This really hit me hard. It’s sooooo true. A spirit of repentance distinguishes Christians from non-believers. Our sinful nature makes it impossible for us not to sin at all. But it’s so important that we must not be slaves to sins and seek God’s guidance walking away from the bondage of sin.
What comes in the way is the promise that Jesus blood has washed away your sins , why not watch those porns, why not do cheating Evangelism?
Do you find that Christians have an easier time stopping certain habits than non Christians?

I just finished a book called Cold Case Christianity by J. Warner Wallace that was incredibly helpful. He is a former detective who studied the Biblical evidence as a cold case. I highly recommend reading this if you have questions about the evidence for Jesus Christ.

Let me testify for a moment about God's grace - I have been struggling with current sins and past sins. I never feel like I can ask for enough forgiveness to move beyond my past sins or carry enough shame and guilt to somehow "pay" for my current sins. The Old Rugged Cross has been a theme in my life today and I had listened to a few different versions of it that I found here on CZcams. As I sat here this evening, I prayed for guidance about my thoughts and feelings about myself and how do I walk forward away from sin. Up popped a video of Alisa singing The Old Rugged Cross. It was so beautiful. I saw in the comments section someone mentioned they didn't know Alisa could sing. They had only watched her videos on this channel. I searched for the channel and this particular video caught my eye and I felt compelled to watch, even though it was well past bedtime for me. I get to Phylicia saying - "You're living up to who you are. You're not trying to overcome who you used to be". Wow. Look how great God is! Look how he lead me straight to an answer! Praise God for his power and grace, and praise you, ladies, for your gifts!
Both these women have been so fundamental to my understanding of my faith. This was such a blessing! 🫶🏼

You are right on. Thank God that you are listening to the Holy Spirit. It is so needed at this time. Only through the Bible interpreted by the Holy Spirit can we know the truth.

This was sooo good! Definitely will be saving this for relistening very soon. Got teary-eyed understanding my identity in Christ possibly for the first time when she explained the difference between identifying as sinners (i.e. alcoholics, addicts, liars, thieves, etc.) vs saints.
Can’t wait, this is a important subject.
I think one thing that people forget about conversion is that it doesn’t mean you won’t sin, EVER; but that now, you are spiritually ALIVE so you aren’t ENSLAVED to sin. You now have a CHOICE. You can choose to follow God’s will, where you absolutely could not before. You won’t always choose right….but you are FREE.
I literally use those exact words to describe the sin nature - we are born with a predisposition to sin! Bent toward rebellion and wanting our own way above the way of the Lord! Loved this, thanks ladies!

My children saw us live out our faith daily. The oldest who was totally committed to Christ is now an Atheist. The youngest was the same and is now a recovering alcoholic/drug addict. It doesn't always turn out like your family. My husband and I still walk daily with Jesus. Our faith in Him is the only thing that has gotten us through these difficult years.
It is a principle not a promise that our children will grow in the training and admonition of the Lord that we give them.
Same for my adult children that they waver and wander. But our stories are not yet over my sister…

Everyone struggles with sin..Sin is an archery term which means to be off the mark, sinning this way and that, off the mark as opposed to hitting the bullseye as to doing what Jesus would have me to do..yes any sin can cause death, but so does insisting upon someone that they are do hell just for being born...the Bible is a limited view of reality..a necessary, integral, important aspect of it, but as I see it limited....
...currently reading "Life/Faith " by Emmanuel Swedenborg....can't wait to hear feedback from any Christian that will insist his teachings are heretical...
...I was molested at 6, became privy of porn at 14, .this destroyed my life...my younger sister, older sister molested , difficult to listen to ongoing God loves me yet im unworthy and deserving of hell... by Voddie Baucham and Paul Washer to name two pastors who I need to take a break from..praying to understand why I have a difficult time absorbing their critical condemning of the lot of us..
...I disagree that the Bible is inerrant ...though it may very well be..I don't deny Christ, but deny the Bible not being clear enough as to how to proceed with my life right now, it being ok to edify myself in search of Truth in God

I grew up in a very legalistic household. I RAN from that God. I didn't want that God. I stayed with my root morals, but other than that, I didn't care. I didn't pray. I didn't even go to church until I had kids. It wasn't until around 2 1/2 years ago that I had my eyes opened by thr Lord. He told me I had to change WHILE I WAS SITTING IN CHURCH GRUMBLING IN MY HEAD. I get it now. God is absolute good.

I think it was on your channel where I wrestled with deconstruction topics before. So it may've been here where I realized I deconstructed from a watered down Christianity and came back in the fullness of the Gospel.
I was raised Christian, my mom strong in her faith, studying the Bible weekly.
My Dad, struggled to go to church when I was younger. Then ended up working at the church when I was in college.
The church they're still at has some people that I worry about their salvation. One lady my age loves Halloween and displaying her art that borders on pornography.
Many others just don't call out other saints for repeated obvious sins (not legalistic)
But also, my Dad had become much closer to the LORD, and is active in prison ministry.

Alisa you just said, near the end, that legalism was like where the pharisees in Bible times said, 'You cant pluck corn on Sunday to eat if you are hungry. "That was Sabbath not Sunday. The Jews kept Sabbath, the day God set aside for worship at creation, the 7th day Saturday not Sunday the first day of the week. God again brought the Sabbath to light on Israel's journey out of bondage from the Egyptians in Exodus in the 10 commandments. Probably just a mis-spoke for you. I love your show, and this one with Phylicia Masonheimer, I really benefited from it. I listen to all your podcast and so valuable to think out why we are Christians, the beauty and saving grace of the Jesus and His gospel, etc. Thanks so much for what you do.
We approach the throne of God as if he was a judgey housecleaner. We want to clean up our house before we invite him in. It’s the modern way of asking for leaves to cover our nakedness. Thanks for this interview.

I Especially love the closing remarks about the character of God and at about the 25 minute mark where she says to keep short accounts with God basically that as soon as you sin be quick to repent.
Been struggling with hyper Calvinists a lot lately.
What we believe about the character of God is the most important thing we can believe. If God is not good but he determined people to hell in eternity past and as John Calvin says ( in his book The eternal predestination of God) is in fact the author of sin then what do we have?
Where is the good news in that?

Regarding the last sentiment shared, how do you reconcile that with the proverbs repeatedly saying the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom?
I would like to follow that question by saying there are obviously wrong uses of fear. 1 John 4:18 tells us that “perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.”
What gets in the way of forgiveness is the belief that we are different people pre- and post conversion. What has seemed to have happen, what acts we have done, make no difference to our identity as God's creation. We are on the earth but not of the earth.

This Podcast in my view has to do with the Nature and Character of God which reveals Holiness and Righteousness. The need spiritually is for churches and Christians to embrace the nature and character of God with sanctification and Consecration . This can be achieved with the help of the Holy Spirit. Keep up the good work Alisha love your Podcast.
I get the part about referring to ourselves as saints, and I agree TO AN EXTENT. The Bible presents us in an already but not yet state. We have already been forgiven, and in God's eyes, when He looks at us, He sees the righteousness of Christ being outside of time. That being said, we are still being sanctified on earth, and we still live in this body of sin and decay. So while I can agree with the idea that we should not identify as sinners, as the identity in Christ is what should be our focus, stating that we are already saints and opposed to stating we are forgiven and yet still deal with this body of sin can be a slippery slope. If you keep telling yourself you are a saint yet keep sinning over and over again, when do you hit a point where you either doubt your salvation cause the sin keeps occurring or maybe, and this would be worse, convince yourself it must not be that big an issue because you are a saint and are forgiven. Knowing we live in this dichotomy and being honest about it I believe is ultimately the only way to deal with the sin within ourselves.
The best news is that God made a way through His gift of repentance. Without it we would be in sorry shape.

Neil T. Anderson has been teaching the Biblical truth that scripture uses the term, "saints" to describe born again Christ followers. He has been scoffed at too and thought "controversial". His ministry, "Freedom in Christ" has been a true blessing to the body of Christ.❤

It was the way I had to come to full faith also. I gave my life to Christ, then decided I had to make sure it was true. Yep, I feel like I deconstructed in faith too. I read Surprised By Faith. It had the info she mentioned about Homer and other ancient books we believe that have FAR FAR less evidence.

I am wondering how the gospel may change in our minds when we realize the full historical reality laid out in Genesis. It has been my experience that those that "fall away" are finding gaps in what the church is teaching them (all milk, no meat). And it is not within the scope of the church to bridge those gaps... imagine coming to the realization that Jesus came to fix 3 rebellions, not just the one in the Garden of Eden... what is the reason for telling the story of Babel in Genesis? How come the story of the Flood is given so early in Genesis? We need more theology in churches, we need to share the greater picture with believers

I agree with you, Phylicia, that God is all love. His character is eternally patient for us to decide to return to Him. So He is the father of the prodigal son. No punishment in His love. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love." so the character of God in the Old Testament is not accurate and sometimes even in the New, like when Jesus was supposed to have said," And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
How can a person forgive if he is certain we are all sinners? You are both addressing this quandry. Did Jesus, by his action redeem us when we cannot redeem ourselves the same way? Or does the Crucifixion take us to the point of realizing that it is no one's sacrifice that redeems us but forgiveness does.?

The pharisees never fought about sunday though, that's not correct. Now sure we can argue that the "jewish" Sabbath was done away or whatever, but we have to know what the issues really are in order to understand what legalism really is....legalism is exactly what Alisa said, it's adding stuff that the bible doesn't require of us. Legalism is not, however, being faithful to what the bible actually says, that's obedience, and there is a difference between legalism and obedience that is worthy of discussion
I do believe personally that it takes the movement of the holy Spirit on someone drawing them to the father for them to come to the father just like Christ said I mean if that doesn't happen to someone I don't understand how just reading enough things that make you confident that the Bible can be the truth can actually make you believe in Christ I mean you understand what I'm saying
Relationship is not a one way thing. We speak to God through prayer and He speaks back to us through various forms of guidance and phenomena. These include, but are not limited to, the use of scripture. As many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. This Spirit is also the Spirit of truth, the Comforter who our Lord mentions in John 14.
The Bible does not tell us exactly who to marry. A man recognizes his lifelong wife by discernment.
Amen, Saints stop saying “I’m just a sinner in need of a savior” false humility. Don’t dim your light for no one, own who you are in your inheritance from Jesus Christ. Nonbelievers are sinners in need of a Savior, we’re believers Saints of Jesus Christ.

I believe from reading the scripture that we see that God had a foreknowledge of who would become a believer everyone that was going to be a believer and so he set out to go get those people they are the elect now everyone or many people get the message and the holy Spirit can move on many people are all flesh even but that doesn't mean that All flesh will respond and God knows who those people are that will respond and those are the ones those are those sheep that Christ is going out there to get

Romans 10:9-11 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
Yes. Since God created everything that exists, that creation needs to be how we see everything. To do that we have to eliminate in our minds what God is not. Since Jesus knew God better than anyone else in the Bible, his true teaching will help us discern truth for every one of our decisions. He showed us how to make those decisions, that is by listening to the Holy Spirit. He will help us discern what is true in the Bible from what is not. Spirit will show us through what God did not create, sin, to what He did create, the innocence that we are created to be. Repentance is that correction in our own life, forgiveness is the correction in the lives of others. Both can go by the name of metanoia, the Greek word in the New Testament which is literally, changing what we know, changing our minds. In my life, I knew I needed God's help when I ran into betrayal in my marriage and that's when I doubled down listening to Christ, which is the same voice as the Holy Spirit. Then I let him take me through the Bible to find the true teaching.
The difference between God in the New Testament as taught by Jesus, that is the patience of God's love to help the prodigal son's return to Him is 180 degrees different from Yahweh's handling of Adam and Eve when they started listening to the wrong teacher. He has that patience and certainty that we all will return to our home for all of His creation. He does not punish but has perfect love.

It is our false mind's persistence in guilt and sin that thinks we will be punished by God when actually we are punishing ourselves through self-sacrifice. Forgiveness is the answer to this false idea of punishment as Jesus said in Matt 12.7 "If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the innocent. "That was the purpose of the Crucifixion. "Forgive them for they know not what they do."
Pray always, submit to Christ resist the devil and he will flee.

I didn't find this interview very good, to be quite honest. I love this podcast, but I felt this guest wasn't a good choice. I'm sorry. She seems to be creating “doctrines” out of 1 or two scriptures and make assumptions of other people’s views. I also looked at her website and a few things I saw were questionable. Im going to re-listen again and will edit my comment if needed.
I'm not saying I don't believe that this woman is not a believer I believe that she very well is I'm just saying that I've heard people say that they came to the conclusion that Christ was who he said he was but I mean I didn't have to do a lot of studying personally I felt the holy Spirit moved me to get up and go down and confess that I believed and that was that it ever since then I believed have always acted right no but I believe ever since then I didn't have to know all this kind of different stuff too actually believe I wanted to know a lot of stuff and so I have studied
Paul said he preferred being single. And yet the very first institution that God ever created was marriage. Think about that for a moment. He created marriage before he created the church. To say that one is spiritual and the other is not, or that one is better, is to misunderstand scripture.
If marriage meant so little to God then why would he refer to the church as the bride of Christ?
We are created in the likeness of God. Is God sinful? If we think of ourselves as sinful, is that the likeness of God?
Jesus is reported to have said he felt separated from God on the cross. His necessary step to reuniting with God which brought him up to the point of saying, "Unto they hands I commend my being" was the process of forgiveness,."Forgive them for they know not what they do."
We are not what we or others have done. We are not our works. We are who we are created to be and don't have power to change God's creation. but we can change our minds.
Apropos politics: Since I am a follower of Jesus Christ I would want much stricter gun laws and a general health insurance and I would oppose death penalty if I lived in the U.S., for instance.
If you call your saints, then what are people who are not Christians? I don't think we should not elevate ourselves above others. Christ did not elevate himself above others. We are suppose to be humble servants, what are you thoughts?
Saints is what believers are to God not to each other. We have a new testament example of calling each other brother and sister in Christ.
In many New Testament letters, the readers are addressed as “brothers”. See for example Romans 1:13, 1 Corinthians 1:10, Galatians 1:11 and 2 Peter 1:10. In the book of Acts, we read that this was already common practice among the apostles and in the early church (e.g. Acts 1:15-16, Acts 2:37, Acts 15:3, Acts 15:23).
Some Bible translations write “brothers and sisters” here, to make clear that both men and women are addressed by this general term. It is clear that not all these people are from the same family
The Biblical word saint is misunderstood by most people including Christians.
In scripture, the Greek word άγιος (agios) has been translated to sanctified, holy and saint. It simply means "set apart for God".
People have taken it to mean "better than others", however, true Christian should be striving to continually live with improving standards with God being the Christian standard.

Politics, should be viewed through the lens of the Bible, vote biblically
I’d start by allowing all projected ideas we have what God is be expressed till you are completely empty. None of them are what God is. Why? Because God is not a sentence or an idea.
Once we empty the cup (mind) of all our mostly mad ideas of what God is there is a space opened for a revelation. When your mind is empty Father can be reintroduced. This would be most revelatory moment of your entire time on earth. If it’s not then there is more to empty like the images we made of god as kids. They are still there and believe it or not are still actively blocking the truth
I really admire Phylicia and her views on theology, but her association with a new age company (Young Living) is concerning. 😔
So lets start at timeline 19:50 as Phylicia states in John 1:9 “he who confesses their sin will be cleansed from all unrighteousness”.
Let’s be aware that God is not into lip service. In fact the word “confesses” means to come into agreement with. In other words, you have chosen Jesus as Lord and Savior and have submitted yourself alongside His teachings and commands.
If we back up in the passage to verse 6, “If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth”. The key words here are “walking in darkness”, it means to participate in a lifestyle that is contrary to what you’re repenting of. If I’m an alcoholic yet fellowship with those that party and drink, I become a liar to my own confession and held in contempt as the blood of Jesus is applied. The same for adulterers. If I run off with another man’s wife and eventually marry her, I have not only sinned but also compounded the sin by marrying into it.
For an alcoholic it means to put down the beer and fellowship with the world. For an adulterer it means to sever all ties with your adulterous lover, married or not. Marriage does not cover up one living in adultery. There is a responsibility on our part as the bible states to “flee from sexual immorality.” Our confession must line up with our behavior, otherwise we have believed in vain and made ourselves out to be eventual liars.
Is there grace in the process of repentance? YES! But those who misuse grace to satisfy flesh upon flesh are only fooling themselves, not God.
Phylicia also states timeline 26:55 “the cross did what it was suppose to do” as if we are free and clear on our part to manifest actual repentance from sin. God’s Word tells us to show works worthy of repentance. If our tongue makes everything right with God, then we might as well be joined with the “name it and claim it” prosperity church crew.
It easy to candy pick related scriptures concerning sin and be done with it as Phylicia has showed. Now let’s combine the full council of God’s Word and see if there’s more to be had.
In 1 Cor 10 Paul warns the brothers (saints) to not indulge in sin as those of our forefathers did and many lost their lives (struct down by God) due to contempt by fault of wickedness and complaining.
Paul says concerning evil behavior, “Now these things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.” Saints take notice while you stand least you fall.
In Galatians 5:19 Paul once again writes to the church as a warning to believers (saints) not to be involved in acts of the flesh. “The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
In 1 John 2:3-6 we read:
And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
1 John 3:4-10 Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is
lawlessness. You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children let no one deceive you.
Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
Phylicia also states at timeline 29:40 “and when you confess you are completely restored.” This is not biblical. False statement, weighed and found wanting.
The bible states in Acts 2:38, Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Luke 24:46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Jesus did say, "Unless we repent we will all likewise perish." Commenting on those who lost their lives when the tower fell.
Now that we have a better understanding, let’s not cherry pick ourselves into a false narrative when commenting on sin and the confession thereof.
Proverbs 28:13 “One who conceals his wrongdoings will not prosper,
but one who confesses and abandons them will find mercy.”
It is the willful unrepented soul who practices sin that will be denied entrance into the kingdom, believer (saint) or not.
Although I could go on, you get the point. Grace teaches us to deny all ungodliness and all unrighteousness. Grace matures the believer into righteousness. God is long suffering, patient, not wanting anyone to perish. However, he knows who’s playing games with sin and giving Him lip-service at the same time. Do not gamble away your soul in hopes that God’s love will overlook your sin.
