*Thoughts:* You know it's a good country when you struggle to place your top few entries!! Well, Norway certainly has their shit together, there's some genuinely amazing songs here. There may be the odd flip flop, but they are forgiven. They had a great winner in 2009 (one of my fav ESC songs ever actually!!) and could pretty easily do it again with the right song.
Speaking of the future, I will totally miss Ulrikke but I also think it's cool that she acknowledges that she needs time to find another song that's really special to her if she enters MGP again one day. Next year could bring anything for Norway, let's hope it's something great. :)
Uhhh I'm at a loss for what to do next again, maybe time to talk about our tiny withdrawn microstate friends :)

Here are my thoughts, year for year. It is an extract from my views of all the entries, posted at Schlager Lucas.
2000 Charmed - My Heart Goes Boom. 3/10 We are in the dark ages of Norwegian ESC entries, now. Boring pop.
2001 Haldor Lægreid - On My Own. 2/10 HEEEELP, SOMEONE!! We need to fix this!!!
2003 Jostein Hasselgård - I'm Not Afraid To Move On. 7/10 This song is borderline boring, but somehow it manages to engage. The chorus is quite nice. I am not a lyrics person, so if someone claim they are bad, I don't care that much.
2004 Knut Anders Sørum - High. 3/10 Back into the dark ages. Boring pop.
2005 Wig Wam - In My Dreams. 7/10 Glam rock! Fun song and staging. Our band has had Åge Sten Nilsen as guest vocalist. And he is great fun.
2006 Christine Gulbrandsen - Alvedansen. 9/10 I just love this song. The use of traditional instruments like the Hardanger fiddle and mouth harp, add something extra to it. Only minus is that the song ends too soon. In my top 5 of the Norwegian entries of all times.
2007 Guri Schanke - Ven A Bailar Commigo. 2/10 Going from traditional Norwegian sound to a bad copy of Spanish music, was not a good choice.
2008 Maria Haukaas Storeng - Hold On Be Strong. 6/10 The song is nice, but not my cup of tea.
2009 Alexander Rybak - Fairytale. 9/10 A great song, but I have probably heard it too many times. In my top 5 of the Norwegian entries.
2010 Didrik Solli-Tangen - My Heart Is Yours. 5/10 Nice song but a bit too grandiose.
2011 Stella Mwangi - Haba Haba. 4/10 OK song. Original in ESC but not in Africa, I would think. She is struggling a bit with her voice in some places.
2012 Tooji - Stay. 3/10 Not my cup of tea. Can listen to it, but would never search for it.
2013 Margaret Berger - I Feed You My Love. 10/10 It hit me hard when I heard it the first time on the car radio. When they told it was the Norwegian MGP winner, I almost drove off the road. This is clearly the best Norwegian entry ever imo.
2014 Carl Espen - Silent Storm. 8/10 Haunting and beautiful song.
2015 Mørland & Debrah Scarlett - A Monster Like Me. 5/10 OK song, but a bit too grandiose imo.
2016 Agnete - Icebreaker. 7/10 What I like about this song is the tension that is created by her going into halftime in the choruses.
2017 JOWST - Grab The Moment. 7/10 I like this song. Cool staging. Catchy chorus.
2018 Alexander Rybak - This Is How You Write A Song. 4/10 OK, but shubi dubi dap dap, also a tad too silly…
2019 Keiino - Spirit In The Sky. 8/10 This grew on me. Didn’t quite like it in the Norwegian final, though.
2020 Ulrikke - Attention. 7/10 I like this song, but it doesn't get up amongst the best, though.
2021 TIX - Fallen Angel. 8/10 I like this song very much. A bit banal, but who cares?

Norway is a great country in Eurovision, I really like what they have been doing in recent years! The older entries are usually pretty good as well! Here's my opinion!
    20. 2011 - 3/10
Never been a fan of this one. The chorus is way too simple and the song itself is a bit weird even for me.
    19. 2016 - 4/10
This one is... overrated by fans. I'm fine with it staying in the semi final.
    18. 2010 - 4,5/10
It's not bad, just very bland and forgettable.
    17. 2000 - 5,5/10
So I think that this song is just okay. There is a room for improvements, something's definitely missing.
    16. 2020 - 6/10
It's a weird ballad for me - sometimes I like it, sometimes I'm tired of it. That's why it's not that high on this list.
    15. 2007 - 7/10
Good entry, very energetic, I like it. Not in my qualifiers, because 2007 was one of the strongest years ever.
    14. 2004 - 7/10
A solid entry, good chorus and verses. Far from the best one, though.
    13. 2005 - 7/10
I am a rock person, but this glam rock entry is just good in my view. I like their costumes, but the song sounds like one of many generic rock songs which aren't very noticeable.
    12. 2006 - 7,5/10
Good entry with an ethnic bits. I can't really say anything else about it.
    11. 2014 - 7,5/10
Good ballad, I understand how it ended up so high. The vocals are good and overall it's a solid entry.
    10. 2013 - 7,5/10
Nice entry, a bit overrated, but it's not bad by any means.
    9. 2008 - 7,5/10
The same can be said about this song, except for the fact that this one's better.
    8. 2001 - 8/10
Really underrated track. Definitely one of my favourites from 2001, it's just a good ballad.
    7. 2012 - 8,5/10
Didn't deserve last place. The instrumental is definitely my favourite part of the song.
    6. 2018 - 9/10
Alexander returned with a different, but still a great entry! It's catchy and has a fun melody with nice lyrics.
    5. 2019 - 9,5/10
I love these types of Nordic songs, they are so fun and catchy, but still manage to stand out in some ways!
    4. 2009 - 9,5/10
Really great winner, the verses and chorus are awesome, combined with Alexander's charisma, and we've got a well deserved winner!
    3. 2017 - 9,5/10
Cool and modern, yet still great! I enjoy this type of electronic music, so I'm glad that we got a song like this in Eurovision!
    2. 2003 - 10/10
My winner of 2003. A beautiful ballad, which works on every level! I really love the sound of it, and it got a deserving top 5 placement!
    1. 2015 - 10/10
But I still love this ballad more. It has an amazing duet and they had a beautiful song with an amazing buildup! Both vocals are amazing, and the empty staging surprisingly works, with a dark atmosphere which turns into brighter colours at the end of the song! I'm not surprised at all that this made the top 10!

    My Thoughts:
    20. I watched 2007 a few days ago and honestly I was very close to putting this in my qualifiers no cap, it's not great but compared to some of 2007 this is really quite a bop
    19. Ugh boring. Everything about this is so blasé, his outfit, the staging, the song, and even his looks are just so generic. I'm sorry to this man
    18. His voice seems nice but that shirt is making me want to throw myself out of a window
    17. Awww this seems cute. Gives me the same sort of vibes that Divine and Even If give me, and I loved both of those. This seems a bit worse than those tho :/ but not bad
    16. ALEXANDER WHY DID U COME BACK. I cannot believe that he honestly thought after the iconiqueness of fairytale that this would be a good idea. honey no. sweaty what is u doing
    15. Feels very Junior Eurovision circa 2004 and I Do Not Vibe With That
    14. FOURTEENTH??? THIS DESERVED A TOP 10. The way in which this song continues to raise the bar throughout all of it, ugh the iconic tempo change, the amazing voice, and that transition of tempo near the end where she sings 'it takes a lot of nerve to save a LIIIIIIIIII----IIICEBREAKER omg her minddddd, Norway and Iceland did NOT deserve to be left in the semi
    13. This is a bop and very very similar to popular in quality so I have no idea how this came last and that came THIRD. I rly like Stay and I had it qualifying but I would've taken Sofi :/ even tho they were both in my final. The ethnic flair in this chorus just hits different tho
    12. IM SORRY WHY IS THIS SO LOW IN YOUR RANKING???????? Morland is one of the best composers to enter Eurovision, on par with Zeljko ngl, and his and Debrah's voices are so nice together I can't believe it. this is one of the best ballads, nay songs, to grace the eurovision stage, and 12th is just not it hunny
    11. Meh it seems fine but lets move on
    10. A whole bop that deserved to qualify, and that's on Europe not accepting afrobeat songs or songs with any sort of African inspiration :/
    9. Not horrible but it gets a bit same-same after a while. didnt rly deserve top 10, sorry
    8. QUEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. Ugh this song is so well produced and her vocal is absolutely everything. However, I rly did want Pang to win....but this was an incredibly close second so im not mad. what I AM mad at is the fact that she won't be trying again next year, but here's hoping for 2022 or 23
    7. Another queen, the adjective I would describe this song as is smooth because I mean it just is, yes this is good I approve
    6. Hot take but I don't love this. The vocals are perfect (especially Alexandra's), the joiking is spectacular, but the song structure and instrumental are so generic it hurts. I had it 11th in my semi but I got why it qualified. still tho. its kinda cheap. but issa bop
    5. I am watching the 2006 final tomorrow and I already have the feeling this will be my winner. ITS SO GOOD. GIVING ME LOTR, GIVING ME ELVES AND FAIRIES, GIVING ME FANTASY SOUNDTRACK, I AM LIVING. AND IN NORWEGIAN?????? CONSIDER ME SHOOK AND CONSIDER ME SOLD
    4. Ugh the raw emotion in this.....sis this song is also amazing. His vocal is stunning and the arrangement is just perfection. brb im crying now
    3. Seems ok, Lordi Lite but I like it 100000000% better than I like Lordi. Not quite sold on it tho
    2. MY 2013 WINNER!!! GIVING ME ELSA, GIVING ME DUBSTEP + BEAUTIFUL BALLAD, GIVING ME FUTURISTIC AND MODERN, I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW DENMARK, AS GOOD AS IT WAS, WON OVER THIS. Holy crap this song is one of the best songs ever. AND THE LYRICISIM??? POETRY PERIODT
    1. Very iconic and very good. A whole entire bop. HOWEVER. Randajad should have won in 2009. And then also Alexander came back in 2018. So my love for it has lessened. Still amazing tho

Oooh what did you think of 2007??? Opinion a little unpopular but I like almost every song, it's one of my fav years. ❤️ Just... Not this one, lol.
Agnete should've qualified tbh, I don't reeeeally vibe with the song and even I see that. And GRETA, don't remind me, I cry everytime 😭
LET ME EXPLAIN MY BEEF WITH A MONSTER LIKE ME..... I used to love it, obsessed with it, top 3 of 2015 (back when Grande Amore or Warrior was my winner lol). But it just kind of unravelled for me, slowly then all at once. Why does the song want to be mature and realistic but also give off Disney villain vibes? Why are they dressed so boring? What did Morland do? Did Debrah do something too? If they're trying to say that we're all monsters, then why don't they specify what exactly it was so I know how to recieve the moral of the story or how far I can forgive or ditch people guilty of certain things? Did he steal a lollipop from the shop once? Did he hurt someone's feelings? Did he pirate music? Did he commit murder? I DON'T KNOW BECAUSE THEY WON'T TELL ME. It's still pretty sounding but quite simple and not comparable to Zeljko aka a god who can do no wrong imo.
2006 lowkey SUCKS but yes Norway was a high point in a world of lows 😭😭 she's not my winner winner because Lejla exists (see Zeljko comment) but she would be a good one tbh.
AND I LOVE MARGARET TOO she used to be my fav of "13 but I have sudden affection for Zlata lately.
I agree Randajad is art but the charm of nostalgia of Fairytale wins me over still 😭❤️ I don't really like it any less bc of his 2018 effort but I know of a lot of people who only like it BECAUSE of their love for Alexander and I can safely say I'm not in that deep 😂

@@eurovisiongal7007 I thought 2007 wasn't as bad as everyone says tbh, Serbia, Ukraine, Latvia, Hungary, and Russia were my top 5, and I am absolutely FUMING that Andorra, Malta, and Czech Republic did not qualify.
I still do be sad about greta tho :/
Look honestly I would give Mørland the edge over Zeljko. At least Morland makes songs that sound unique..en livredd Mann should have won 2019 mgp no cap. And as beautiful as Zeljko's songs are you have to concede that they all sound SO SIMILAR. And idk I just vibe with the angsty lyrics, like part of the fun is guessing what he did (and also makes me a bit upset cos what if it was like assault or something)
Randajad is art periodt, should have at least been top 3, but im glad it did so well tbh

@@a.s.1659 you liked Malta and Czechia's songs??? That's a spicy take that I respect.
I always put too much stock in lyrics honestly, if a song doesn't make sense to me I usually start to dislike it unless it's so garbled that it adds to the charm. (YES I'M GONNA LIKE IT..... LET ME INTO HEART) I also totally overthought a good, fine song into one I only kind of like, but that's the consequence of spending years thinking it's #deep 😂 I don't know about the songwriting thing, I feel like they write in such different genres it's tough to compare? I think Morland writes good songs but they're a little generic even if they're well composed. That's just my hypercritical take though 😂
I do think it's really cool that Randajad did so well for an experimental song!!! Other kind of avant garde pop songs like Love Injected or Taken By a Stranger kind of flopped in the televote so they did something right to place so close to top 5.

@@a.s.1659 Maybe for you Željko's songs sound similar. I think they are all quite different, but every song has traditional vibe, maybe just that vibe is thing that connects all the songs. I think so. But remember, everyone has their own taste😃
