I purchased a Home Depot Husky 33 gallon air compressor years ago. Had it a few months, used now and then to air up tires and it developed a whopper of a leak at the manifold. I took it to an authorized dealer; it took over six months to get it back because of time for approval of repair under warranty, waiting for parts and the time it took them to get around to "fixing" it. It still leaks air; even after I turn the pressure regulator gauge to "0" with a full tank of pressurized air it will be empty the next morning. The only other Husky brand item ever I purchased was a very nice looking 2 drawer pre-assembled rolling shop table; after moving it into my garage, I attempted to open the drawers, and ball bearings rolled all over my garage floor. So much for the quality of Husky products. BTW, if the leaks are subtle, use a mixture of water and Dawn detergent and brush it over any suspect areas; bubbles will appear where the slow leaks are.
Thanks for watching & sharing your experience, that doesn’t sound fun at all, that’s a bummer. We love our Craftsman tank, still works as designed. Let us know if you have any questions.

Fortunately couplers aren't that expensive so I'm planning on picking up some Kobalt couplers at Lowe's. Since my accessory kit only came with female end couplers, I might buy two at Lowe's so that they'll match and I can also have the adapter it came with back for if I ever need it for another application. I bought my compressor used and it only had one coupler installed and the old one is very dirty, I think it may be part of my problem.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I noticed on the end of the hose where you stick into the coupler on the Air compressor, you had an adapter, a coupler and I believe another adapter, how come not just the Female Adapter without the coupler and other adapter??

how would you recommend removing the whole regulator as a whole i think i need to add teflon to the middle where they meet on mine but if i screw sideways the sides hit the shroud, and if i pull vertically the pressure guages hit the tank so im kinda stumped
Thanks for watching, it’s definitely an option however we don’t have a video on that. We will add it to the list. 👍 Taking it apart is tedious however makes for a fun project for us.
Mine was leaking from the connector as you have shown. I bought two new connectors and each one leaked. They were the same size as the original one that was leaking air. Any ideas? It's a crafsman evolv 3 gallon oil free compressor with a 1/4 inch connector.
Frank Savanti Thanks for watching. By chance...is it leaking after it’s full or leaking as it fills. You may have purchased one that requires the hose to be connected during fill up. Keep us posted. @@DIYwithMichaelBorders Hi Michael. It leaks while it fills and with or without the hose attached to it. It cannot build any pressure. It makes no sense to me.
Frank Savanti Thanks for the reply. You may need to add more Teflon tape. Or it’s possible that there is too much Teflon tape leading to a poor connection. Keep us posted. 😎👍🔧🔩
Here’s my problem, I hope you can help. My tank can gain and keep pressure, but with the hose unplugged/off the compressor, air leaks out of the end of the coupler. With a hose and tool plugged into it, I can’t get air into the hose. Any idea what the problem can be?
Thanks for watching & this is a very common experience. There are different types of fittings. Some fittings can hold air pressure inside tank without hose being connected while other fittings require the hose to be connected so air does not leak out. Either way, since your fitting is not allowing air into the tank, a new fitting will most likely resolve your issues. Knowing the differences between the two types of fittings, you can pick the one that best fits your mission. Keep us posted on your DIY project.
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders the problem is this…I can fill the tank with air pressure, no problem, but as soon as I connect a hose, no air comes out. Only when I disconnect the hose does air come out of the coupler.
