Thank you for the in depth videos. I have a drift ghost x camera which I’ve been really impressed with but the internal mics like you say are awful with wind noise but I got the official drift mic and have great sound (both engine and voice) without the need for any mufflers on the mic apart from the supplied sponge. I think you may have a fault with the usb to 3.5mm adapter as when this is plugged in it disables the internal mics. I bought an extra official mic and third party usb adapter to fit on my cycling helmet and had the exact same problems as you, it turned out that the third party USB adapter wasn’t fully wired so was still using the internal mics, I used my original drift USB adapter and got good sound again. I still haven’t been able to find a third party usb to 3.5mm adapter that works. Hope this helps.

Thanks Rob for sharing the info, it definitely makes sense. If only Drift as a company made that absolutely clear in their user manual or their website it would have made life so much simpler. Better still, they should have included their mic within the packaging - that would have been a bonus😃. Thanks again.

No problem, glad to help. They should really when the internal ones are so useless but then it would cut their profit! Really spoils the video though if you’ve got constant wind noise. I would deal direct with drift regarding the adapter as they seem to be the only ones that work.

water proof case seems to cut out allot of wind but you got to increase your microphone to level 5 to compensate

I had a issue with the Drift Ghost XL and it turned out to be the adaptor cable which had a short and it was only using the exterior mic. I contacted customer service and they promised to send a new part over 6 months ago. I don't think they have very good customer service despite promises to send replacement parts. I can send the link to the parts I bought if you would like.

Thank you. I am glad I am not the only one with the problem. I now have a GoPro😁. If only their customer service just acknowledges the adapter problems and informs customers in the first place😬

Sounds like you have written off the camera and even the company because of the sound issue. I've read a number of reviews going back a year or two expressing the same issue. Drift sell a specific microphone that's meant to sort out this issue. Give that a go.

Thanks very much. Yes it really caused me so much headache. I have now got the Drift 's own mic and it definitely made some improvements, but still getting occasional wind howling.
