    Absolutely fly to your departure city the day before! Recently we cruised to Alaska on the Wonder (a-maz-ing!) and chose to fly in to Vancouver the day before. Our flight was delayed by 3 hours. There were other people on the flight freaking out because they were sailing on other cruise lines, their ships were sailing out that they, and they were not going to make their cruise. Some people legit just walked out of the airport and went home because they knew they wouldn't make it. Other people frantically started calling the cruise companies, and others swarmed the airline's customer service area. We knew we'd be fine because our ship wasn't departing until the next day.

      Oooh, bad move to abandon flying in. If they have insurance, they won't pay because they made no effort to get to the ship.

    Very Very Important to arrive the day before departure. Hugh stress avoider plus there is always someone getting to a cruise ship that either JUST makes it or misses the ship entirely. AJ your suggestion is GOLD!!!

    Here’s a tip for iPhone users on a Disney Cruise: you can send iMessages to other iPhone users around the world while still in Airplane Mode and connected to the ship’s WiFi, and you will NOT be charged roaming fees! TEXT ONLY! No pictures, videos or GIFS

      Just got off the Disney Fantasy yesterday (May 11) and iMessage worked for the first two days and did not work the remainder of our 7-day cruise. We were texting my daughters who both have iPhones. Having sailed with Disney on numerous occasions, the iMessage app onboard has been hit-or-miss. If you need to connect with anyone off-ship, get the internet package like our friends traveling with us. Their daughter is expecting the end of May and did not want to depend on iMessage had she gone into labor early.

    On the last cruise we took, we were out at sea when a hurricane rolled into Florida. It extended our cruise by two full days. We had splurged on concierge level rooms, which ended up being a bargain once those extra days were added in. But I do admit that's not exactly something you can plan for.

    13:20 I have to disagree with you about the tip to go to Guest Services as soon as you get on the ship. Boarding Day is the busiest day at Guest Services with the longest lines. That’s the number 1 way to lose valuable cruise time that you paid for.
    For dining reservations or adjustments go to the open restaurant instead. If it’s a minor request or question use the Guest Services chat feature on the app.
    I would only go to Guest Services on boarding day if there was a significant issue with the cabin that the steward can’t address or something else that needs immediate attention.
    The line at Guest Services at night or after boarding day is usually non-existent. Much more efficient use of time.

    it's a small point, but besides attracting new cruisers, the reason new ships do the shorter routes is something else you are familiar with, guest throughput (like rides). New ships are big with established cruisers too... so the shorter trips makes the new ships available to more people.

    Hi AJ, it’s Colin. I just watched your video about the Disney Cruise Line app. My question is for you, because I’m gonna be flying in to Orlando from Spokane Washington 5 to 6 days before the cruise due to going to Disney World, and then fly home the next morning after the cruise, after I get off the ship, if I decide to take Ground transportation to, and from Disney World, And if my flight leaves at 7:10 AM with the Alaska Airlines the next morning to fly home, what can I do while at Disney World after debarking the ship for example I have a Resort day to do laundry, or take a dip in the pool after getting off ship? Something like that, and what time will the buses leave for Canaveral to go back to Disney World resort? And will the buses have electrical outlets on board so like if I want to charge my phone for while on the bus?

    If you have the early breakfast is it possible to go back to your state room and still get off the ship by departure time if you want to keep your luggage but pick it up in your room after breakfast, thanks for the input.

    • @dfbbreea
      @dfbbreea Před měsícem

      You’ll have to take your luggage with you to breakfast! Last time I was on the Disney Wish, I didn’t put my luggage out the night before, and I had to wheel it over to the Frozen Dining Adventure location. We put our luggage out in the restaurant’s extended hallway, though, so it didn’t crowd us during breakfast!

    • @dryellowkate
      @dryellowkate Před dnem +1

      We don’t have kids and are planning our 23rd Disney cruise. It’s totally worth it to do without kids. Our experience with other cruise lines makes us think that because Disney has such great kids programming that you’re actually around fewer kids on DCL than on other ships.

  • @lunab9140
    @lunab9140 Před měsícem

    Hey AJ and team! Question - is cruising by yourself possible to do? Like does it take away from the experience of certain things (i.e. dinner reservations at certain restaurants) or is it just okay? I'm the only one in my family that wants to go on a Disney cruise, lol. So, I have thought of the idea of going by myself.

    • @dfbbreea
      @dfbbreea Před měsícem +1

      That’s entirely up to you! Honestly, we’ve taken all sorts of solo Disney trips in the past and have had a great time. A solo cruise gives you the freedom to plan a vacation however YOU see fit. But a solo cruise isn’t for everyone, especially for those who might want a companion when sailing over to a new country. You’ll just have to weigh the pros and cons!
