When I was about 8, our family was on a camping vacation in Canada. (We lived near Chcago.) We went to see this movie and I came out of the theater with tears streaming down my face. My parents said nothing knowing what had happened within my spirit. I never understood all of this from Sunday school or summer vacation programs put on each year by various churches. There was a song we had learned called "Living for Jesus" (who died in my place). I had meaning for me once walked out of that theater. I was singing it to myself in my mind the rest of that trip. It made me wonder how many different ways this movie affected other people.

I am 69 and I was around 10 the first time I seen it. I know that I have watched it at least 20 - 25 times. I still cry every time and almost always sob on the part of Jesus dragging the cross. My oldest daughter died August 26, 2019 of liver failure. My son is dying now of IGA Nephropathy and Ulcerative Colitis. My youngest daughter is having issues with her immune system. Side effects from having Covid. My faith has not wavered. I have Sciatica, Scoliosis & Degenerative Disk Disease. I have also had Cancer twice. I have lived long enough to know that Satan is at work every day to try to turn us away from God. I believe that a lot of what people go through is Satan trying to turn them from their faith in God. You cannot let him win. This of course is just my opinion. God bless all. 🙏🏻

I queued for an hour in the rain to see this film at The Strand Cinema in Belfast one Saturday afternoon in 1967. I was 7. It will stay with me forever. I am not a religious person, but I believe in Christ our Lord.

Rosza's themes for Jesus in "King of Kings" was indeed Jesus as King of Kings, whereas in "Ben-Hur" it was Jesus as Prince of Peace. I am also going to add the third movie about the Christ, that preceded these two, "Quo Vadis," for the the main theme and the song of the martyrs define what Christianity it, the beautiful theme for Lygia, likewise, perfectly illustrates what true Christianity is.

This is a truly magnificent opus a veritable leitmotiv for the Son of God and is probably better than any other component in this sacred cinematic. It stands on its own as something angelically reminiscent of Handels Messiah in my reckoning.
One of my fave movie scores ever! ....yet both the movie and music is terribly underrated! While Ben Hur was excellent, King of Kings always took a back seat to it and other biblical scores. I, for one, think it to be a better score than Ten Commandments and second to Ben Hur....just awesome, Dr. Miklos Rosza!!

I find it interesting that when Hollywood turned to inspiring Christian-themed music, they turned, for the most part, to people who were Jewish. This is a truly magnificent opus a veritable leitmotiv for the Son of God and is probably better than any other component in this sacred cinematic. It stands on its own as something angelically reminiscent of Handels Messiah in my reckoning.

The music created for this epic is nothing less than a stunning masterpiece. So moving in so many ways. Rozsa was really a master of his art.

One of my fave movie scores ever! ....yet both the movie and music is terribly underrated! While Ben Hur was excellent, King of Kings always took a back seat to it and other biblical scores. I, for one, think it to be a better score than Ten Commandments and second to Ben Hur....just awesome, Dr. Miklos Rosza!!
Dr. Rozsa was a giant in Hollywood's Golden Age of film scores. I find it interesting that when Hollywood turned to inspiring Christian-themed music, they turned, for the most part, to people who were Jewish. Miklos Rosza, who scored "King of Kings" and "Ben-Hur," was a Hungarian Jew. Franz Waxman, who scored "Demetrius and the Gladiators" and "The Nun's Story," was a German Jew who was beaten up on the streets of Berlin by Hitler Jugend. Alfred Newman was an American Jew born to Russian-Jewish parents, who later scored "The Robe," "The Greatest Story Ever Told" and the magnificent "The Song of Bernadette."

This music still makes me cry. Long before I knew Him, the scene where Peter's in Herod's prison, and Jesus comes to him and stretches His Hand to reach Peter's - I couldn't get it out of my mind. Now - I think He was drawing me to Himself through the movie, ESPECIALLY the music. thanks for sharing this.
