Jumped on that as well! Awesome stuff man!
I just wanna take a moment to tell you guys how much i enjoy your content. Whenever i watch one of your videos i get a super mood boost and it just makes smile seeing how your garden is thriving. Thank you for being so awesome and always keeping up with the great videos
Means a lot to hear!
I always set out with Kevin's mindset, I have nice plans for everything to be set up cleanly and orderly. Then when I actually get in the garden and basically end up doing whatever feels right at the time 😂
Call it chaos gardening, giving it a name makes it feel purposeful! 😂 Personally, I like finding surprises in a garden, sometimes I find out something likes it better in a place I didn't expect, or next to something I hadn't thought of.
I do the same thing every spring!
I do the same and it drives my family nuts 😂😂😂. I had to have surgery a few weeks ago. Day before my surgery the family helped me plant everything….its much neater right now……wait till I’m better in a few months and get back to my shenanigans 😆
Bahahaha yes this is SO ME 😂😂
Omg same. I had my garden beds neatly planned then got to planting and said “ima just do whatever.”
I love it when you two do videos together like this. Its so damn entertaining 🤣
Me too
Behind?? 🤔 9 days, ago we had snow. This week we finally hit 50° with spring rains, so we are putting our cold weather plants in the ground now. 😁🤣😂
haha keep in mind us 10b growers can keep plants out pretty much all year. Spring started on my 10b coast in early feb 😄
Yeah, this was a weird spring near Ottawa 🇨🇦, we had super warm weather for weeks in march, then came super cold weather for a few weeks, then warm again, then random snow and cold for a few days. Now we have 4 days of spring and it looks like summer is starting next week
TLDR: planning has been weird this year 😂
Clipper you hens one wing it make them off balance when they try to fly so the don't get out of pens.just trim every few weeks.
Yeah, same boat different lake! I am not even out of frost risk yet and I can't wait to get my peppers in the ground xO
Late frost here in Jersey so I’m just starting the garden up now!
I love a collab when Kevin and Jacques get it done in the garden!! You two are OG.
What's better than watching a new gardening video? Having it interrupted by the delivery of your fruit trees (apples, plums, asian pears) and strawberry plants. I know what I'm doing over the next couple of days 🎉🎉
Couldn't agree more!
I love it when you two are together ❤❤😂😂 it’s so fun ! You can see you guys have developed a great friendship❤
I just love the dynamic you two have. It makes the videos really enjoyable
You two always crack me up. I literally sit here and laugh out loud while learning new things. Thanks guys:)
I almost spit out my water at Jacques' eyes when he sniffed the chamomile. Perfect, hilarious timing
Bro same. I started so late but I'm still growing. Thank you Garden Men.
Decabbagetated.
We have a Chocolate Cake Pepper plant in the garden.
Jacques, did you get a new hat? Looks great. Kev, looks like you've kept up the healthy lifestyle. You look amazing.
Thank you!
Is anyone else here for the bromance just as much as they are here for the gardening content? "Ever hear of rain? It's fine!" 🤣😂🤣
I'm in zone 4b and i'm just putting stuff in the ground tomorrow! That's the thing with the shorter growing seasons, it really gets me through the last few months of winter tending to my starts indoors 😄
You can freeze the eggs! Take 6 or so, whip them up in a bowl and add a little salt. Pour into ziplock and pop into freezer. Then you have them in the winter when the production goes down. Be sure to date the bag for FIFO use :)
Or pour in ice cubes, freeze then bag.
maybe dry freeze the eggs
Not the knees 😂😭
The growing community is what tv used to be for me, way better but i can only put it in those words lol
I just need constant videos of everyones gardens in every stage and all .
"Vibe it out" that's how I plant too...and your chard is 😮
Last year I started my tomato seeds indoors in January. It took forever for them to grow. This year, I started late February, outside (socal) and my plants look healthier and pretty much the same size as last year, at this exact time. For some reason, planting late has been less work this year, with better results 😊
They hate the cold. Cold slows everything down at the soil level. They always pick back up when it heats up.
I just laughed so hard about the knee pedi!!😂😂😂😂
I love, love, loved this video. It was so refreshing to see someone answer questions the normal backyard gardener has.
Kudos to your production team--love the longer segments of walking around the garden.
Zone 10 here. My tomatoes are about 5-6 feet tall and have tons of little babies. My peppers are growing great.
I'm doing my watermelons and cantaloupe vertical. I also have a fig tree that will need some branches wrapped and something called a sugarberry tree.
I'm definitely adopting this "Vibe Gardening" placement thing
The red eyes after chamomile always gets me lol
Its so nice to have help in the garden. You guys make a beautiful team and it shows in the plants.
Yay on the 3 inch pots!! I actually just looked at your site last night to see if you had 3" ones 😊 I love the 6 cells and 4 cells!
Love watching you guys especially Jaque❤...1 your vid is to short and 2 you guys always make me laugh...love you guys
I'm a no plan gardener tooo I have random things everywhere but it all makes sense to me lol
The joke, single-laugh intro followed by the blooper at the end, is honestly hysterical. I'd be laughing along with Jaques, the situation is hilarious.
Not even 2 mins in and I could relate to this feeling of this video. Exactly how my kitchen been looking for the last two months. NJ weather has been REALLY DRAMATIC WEATHER CHANGES. Like nights were 30 degrees and days were 80 degrees. My poor greens were struggling up until last week. Finally was able to put everything in the ground and in the raised beds. I had at least 7 different veggies going at once all in the kitchen .
This makes my heart as happy as a perfect ripe summer tomato made into a egg, bacon, tomato, lettuce sandwich, or even just by itself with a bit of salt!! Look at all the plants! I live up north, it's been so cold that nothing has come in, there's not much growing yet, so I LOVE to see that you have a full garden. ❤ It makes me think I should move somewhere warmer 😅
Glad you enjoyed!
Aren’t we all late? The weather has been bull-ish.
you two are so funny, I love your videos!
Love Jacques no planning garden philosophy! It my favourite way to garden, I like to call it Freestyle gardening :) We have had a pretty cold spring here, it feels like we are a couple weeks behind too!
All my tomato seedlings died, so when I planted everything else out yesterday, I planted tomato seeds too. I'm prayimg for them to germinate because last year I had NO tomatoes and it was a very sad summer.
Here in 6b, I never put plants out until after Mothers day but I believe our last frost this year was 3 weeks ago.
I can't even see chamomile now without saying "cham-mom-milee" in my head. 😂
Yes! Please do vertical squash and teach us how. I'm not understanding how this will work.
I used the stake support/tie back method for my mints last summer. They were so bushy they were shading out other plants. Worked great.
I like your style. Planting here and there confuses the insects too. So much fun learning here. Thanks.
Best gardening channel ever! So fun and good info. Love the chickens too!
You guys are fun together and obviously good friends.
I feel like I am behind, too. Last week it was cold, this week in the 90's and by Saturday we are back to a high of 52...crazy. Trying to harden off the tomatoes in hopes of planting them this weekend.
A bit behind as well due to the cold spring we have been having, won't be getting into overnight temps above 50 till this weekend so I can finally plant out all my peppers mostly Bahamian Goats/Scotch Bonnets, and get my determinant tomatoes in the ground.
Acting classes are paying off for Jacques 😂
Thank you so much to both of you...your personalities and knowledge is wonderful...love it and love what you do and love the humor so much!
I Russia we always plant a pair of capsicum about 15cm apart... It's for making shade for each other as well as support. It doesn't impact on harvest..
Me too! Just got the tiny peppers into the ground as it's been too cold on the coast south of LA. The tomatoes are doing great but the bananas will not ripen enough to cut! I direct seed cucumbers, melons, and squash (both).
I'm still waiting to plant, we just got snow today :(. I'm about a month away from planting. All my seedlings look good though :). I'm like Kevin, I need a planned garden but I will be adding more flowers everywhere like Jaq. :)
LOOKS AMAZING!
I love watching the hens came running to the brussel sprouts!❤❤❤❤❤❤
So, you need more land! I’d love to see you with a couple acres 👏👍
I do!
@@epichomesteading 😆
My megaton jalapeño seeds I bought from botanical interests are starting to put out peppers now! So many flowers too. I’ve neglected them big time but they are still thriving. They may or may not be in their nursery pots with roots out the bottom 😅 I know I know, first year growing anything I’m learning 🤣 transplanting asap
Love to hear it! It's a cool variety
The half-laugh 😂😂😂
Great video guys! You are not alone in being behind in getting the garden put out. We've had so much wind, 30 to 60 mph, that made it impossible to get out and do anything to my planters, let alone the yard. The rain this year is so unpredictable! Sometimes we get a gentle rain, maybe a half inch, or we get like last night 4 1/2 inches in three hours, water flooding the streets and pooling in patches in the yard. I am just going with the flow, I get what I can get done. I look at it as mother nature must have looked at my garden diary and decided it was too much for me to do, so she is making me recalculate what I really need to plant.
I love how wild the homestead is getting. Wild and free......!
You 2 need to learn how to love hog panels, for vertical. They work beautifully for all of the vine plants, and those poppies love them. JS
I'm so ready to get into my own garden! Our last frost date is next week. Can't wait to start moving all of my seedlings outside.
I have peppers started but don't ask me what kind. I seem to like to surprise myself. I'm absolutely horrible about labeling. 😂 Fingers crossed that my Jimmy's made the cut!
I don’t label either. I do make a video so I know what they are later.
I was only 2 minutes into watching this video and I had to stop everything and go to the Botanical Interest's website to buy that awesome hat that Kevin is wearing... & this is after I just bought a TON of seeds during the Memorial Day sale! 🌻
Potato/Chard Soup: Steam chard but don't keep the water (too much oxalates). Boil potatoes - keep that water. Make a gravy with 1% milk, whole wheat flour, onions, garlic, veggie spices cooked in butter. Blend. A really tasty way to use a lot of chard.
Looking forward to the vertical squash! If you could show how you prune them - I am attempting the same for the first time this year.
I'm actually ahead for once. Trying to film everything I'm doing for my CZcams channel usually gets me behind, So this year I decided not to film anything in the spring, Until I get everything planted! 😂
I love you two together chatting/working!
This was a fun style of video. Thanks for sharing. I just had a baby so I’m actually behind! You guys are doing great!! 🪴💚
Love watching your episodes I've learned a lot in regards to gardening. One thing that I have noticed though is that Jacques loves to keep his hands on his hips😂😂😂😂
What blooming gorgeousness! The homestead is so beautiful.
Watching this and thinking I would love to glean from your garden as you turn it over to your late Spring / Summer crops!
Some hotties! 😂🤣😂
I’m also late, 9A Texas, and ngl I’ve been sad about it. It’s my first year growing anything! Seeing peoples garden producing like crazy when I still haven’t transplanted most. Seeing this makes me feel better!
If it makes you feel better, I’m in 10b and my pepper seedlings are still 1in and most still have no leaves 😢 I started them in March!
Get after it!!
epic episode !
Chard for the chickens!!
I love the laughing when you two start your videos!!
we want deep dive on irrigation and product you use!
I’m in SE Texas. No excuse for not planting. I planted bare root strawberries in a greenstalk that I haven’t stacked yet. They’re scattered in the yard with green strawberries on them. I have 3 tomato plants that I moved from 4” pots to large drink cups from Sonic. There is 1 tomato that’s almost 2”wide. 🤦🏼♀️
I’ve been working on an in-ground melon patch for over a year. First cardboard. I started dumping quail trays with poop and shavings onto it in November. Stopped in March. I forked it a few times. It still seems too soft and poopy to plant.
I think about my garden all the time. I just can’t get out and do anything about it. 😫
It’s snowing as I’m watching this
so glad im not the only one that struggles with potatoes!
Love these two together.
Jacque is going to love the Fresno peppers. It’s a great sweet heat combo and it makes amazing hot sauce.
I love all of your content. I consider myself an experienced gardener, but I always learn something new from your videos every time I watch them. You are the only gardening CZcams channel that I can listen to every day. In fact, my kids are getting sick of hearing Kevin's voice!
Love your video chats❤ Im a seasoned gardener but have learned from you both new tricks and tips . Appreciate you both so much. I’m just growing hots this year. The sweet peppers are hard for me to grow,I’m in Georgia.I just gave up for this year…taking a break. Not growing corn this year either.
Love you guys! Always so fun yet informative ❤ So excited for 2024 growing season!
Kev and JaQ my chickens say that they are willing to have those brusels and Char leaves..:) happy gardening guys.
I bought some new grow lights this year because I had a lot more seeds to start than the past 2 years and for some reason most of my seedlings were doing poorly. Barely growing at all after sprouting and they all ended up shriveling and dying. Not sure if I overwater or not enough. Now I’m back to square zero starting over this week. Too bad I really wanted to try Brussels and broccoli but I fear it may to be hot here now in zone 8a. I also got strawberries for the first time, planted them, and it immediately got below 40 degrees and they all died before they even sprouted. I’m just having horrible luck this year.
Well Trent, it's excellent to see you and Jaques working at it once again.
What's the name of the sunflower next to the poppies? Those are beautiful and I love the structure
I used your ‘tie up the flowers’ technique on my sweet peas. They just wanted to wander all over the place so I ran twine around the entire patch at three different heights. It has worked great!
Glad to hear it!
I hope you guys are besties 🥰🥰. Yall have such great chemistry and look like you truly enjoy each others company ❤❤
Great post, I loved that you try to claim being behind when the garden is flourishing 😁
Excellent duo!
Im good with my pace.
If you have a lot of egg make a Pasta Carbonara with a couple of yokes and then av pavlova with the whites.
Thanks to you guys, I now have French Breakfast radishes about to be ready to get into my tummy (a week away), some purple broccoli that is looking AMAZING, and I direct-sowed a whole bunch of stuff that I haven never grown before and am so pumped to see it pop soon. Really stepped up my game this year, and I blame you for it. In a good way.
🤘dirt knees and paint sneakers fa life!
I'm so excited about my 🍉 watermelon & 🎃 pumpkin patch this year. I planted a TON this year!
I did something new this year, where I still made a plan for all of my raised beds, in ground beds, etc. To maoe sure I was sowing enough seeds, but not entirely TOO MANY, for the space I have, But I kind of switched things up, once I got to the point to actually plant, I planted things in different spots & mixed a lot more flowers into my raised beds this year. Last year I only planted veggies in my vegetable beds (whereas I usually do a lot of flowers mixed in, & not just companion plants- Inspired by The Lawrence Family Garden 😊) & this year I definitely wanted to get back to mixing them in my vegetable beds. It looks so pretty & attracts more pollinators!
I want a friend and colleague like you guys...So rare nowadays
I'm loving the back-to-back uploads!!! I appreciate you guys 🙌
Loving all the flowers! You guys are fun
I wish you would stop releasing so many good products 😂😂 Gonna need some of those 3" pots so let us know when they're released. And seriously Shopify is the reason I was able to take advantage of the amazing Black Friday/holiday sales (the 4 payments option). Really helpful! Gonna be using Jacques' phrase in the future: Just go in there and vibe it out.
Can't say I'll be stopping releasing awesome products anytime soon ;)
