@@BlueMoon56832 It was honestly Torchwick's fault. His negativity attracted the grimm, which is particularly ironic because he can actually mimic Ren's ability. He doesn't have a semblance but can fully cut off his emotions and become almost invisible to the grimm.
Here's the thing, folks in the comments: Neo was never a "good guy." She was always rebellious and a bit selfish. The extent to which she allowed those emotions to control her varied from year to year, but she wasn't really one to display any sort of heroics. Maybe she'll learn to move on and accept what she lost, or perhaps grow in different ways, but I don't think her personality will ever align with our core cast. At most, and what I personally want, is for her to realize that the real root cause of her loss is Salem, and for her to work towards the same goal of ending her, but never really work WITH our heroes. If she does randomly flip a switch like that and somehow becomes "good," I'll be annoyed because it hasn't really been hinted at. But if she doesn't turn her anger towards Salem, I'd understand that too since she kinda just wants to be free and do her own things. But as she's written right now, redemption is unlikely, so don't worry. I know the writers aren't the best, but I don't think they're that dense. I don't think she'll be killed though, either. I think she'll just move on from her "I hate Ruby" phase and just go back to causing mischief and searching for someone who appreciates and respects her talents like Roman did. Side note: She reminds me of Maiev from Warcraft lore, specifically the end of the Black Temple raid. When she accomplishes her goal, gets her vengeance, and she realizes that she's nothing "without the hunt" and has no purpose. She's empty.
people think Neo is a good guy? I've never seen that. Neo being sympathetic, or people rooting for her, sure. people wanting the best for her character and wanting her to continue having a main part in the show, sure. never seen anyone act as if she's a good guy. I think we all know she's a villain. I think you overestimate the writers. if Neo has what you might call a "redemption arc," it wouldn't be in character for her to go up against Salem. she wants to live freely, and I think it would be in character for her to be afraid of Salem and want to live however long she has left far away from all of that, until Salem's goal is complete or she is defeated. nothing about her character so far gives me the vibe of putting aside her own well-being or putting her life on the line for anybody she doesn't know. maybe if she and Emerald had more development, or if Cinder had turned whilst she had the potential too, there could be a reason for her to stick around in protection of them. but then that's just another character to animate all the time and write for, it gets too much, and there's no point. I think her role in the show is coming to an end, or at the very least it should be. this is where I'd be killing her off, or freeing her from the cat and letting her be taken by the tree, or maybe even just saving her from the cat and in that act of kindness from the cast and the further act of kindness by not enacting revenge, she mellows out and decides to live in the Ever After as a free spirit. something like that, idk. I definitely see her dying, though. they don't really have a way to get the cat out of her, and there's nothing else for her to do after this. I suppose you could write her trying to find new purpose or something, but again it would just be so much easier and better to write her out. it would be a plotline so detached from the other plotlines that it's just...whats the point. Neo has had no interest in redemption. Emerald and Hazel did. Cinder had a lot of potential to, I honestly thought she would make a turn, but she didn't. at this point, both Cinder and Neo have reached a point of no return. unless in her dying breath, Cinder turns on Salem after realising she is exactly where she was before - she'd need another Rhodes figure for this - but i doubt it. Neo turning good at this point would be pretty jarring. her accepting her defeat or just agreeing to leave the protagonists alone, sure. but actively putting her life on the line for the people of the world and the people she hated literally minutes ago seems like a massive stretch of her character. and I hope the tree doesn't just bullshit her a new personality.
Maybe the main characters could convince Neo to join them to get even with Cinder. Sure, she'll probably have a problem with that but after being double-crossed at the end of Volume 8, maybe she'll be onboard... at least until she gets her revenge on Cinder.
I can think of 2 instances where neo was a "good guy" I'm by no means saying she's a good person or a hero but there are 2 instances where I personally would deem what she did good. That being 2 of the 3 times she saved Roman. Going back for him when their first job failed even though it put her in danger to do so. Self risk for loyalty is good abd saving Roman from the gang/her family in the finale of her and Roman's book. Same reason.
If Neo ever turns against Cinder & Salem, I imagine that she’ll work with the group under a temporary truce and go her separate way once she’s done. Afterwards she’ll probably continue Roman’s legacy.
I'm pretty sure she isn't dead, it's just she's not in control of her body cause the cat possessed her, so I know she's the bad guy, but she doesn't deserve that, so hopefully at the end of the season, when Ruby comes back, with her memories intact, which is something I'm praying for, she'll have a new found power in her semblance to remove the cat out of Neo's body, WITHOUT harming her, so that Ruby and the others can take out that backstabbing feline.

Ruby was almost made an only-child if Raven hadn't shown up and Yang thought she died protecting Ruby from her. I can't see a reason for them to pity her, much less allow her to live. The CC possession really feels like a "two-birds-one-stone" scenario.

I doubt. Because i feel Neo's story is over. There is nothing they can do for Neo if she goes back to her world. Honestly, i feel they gonna finish her life in this volume.

Even if she does go after Cinder that’d make 2 problems: 1) it’s the same stuff she’s been doing since V6 2) Even if she does succeed, she’ll be in the same situation she’s in now because according to the cat she has nothing to return to. And I can’t imagine she’d be an ally for too long especially after what she did to Ruby.

In my opinion, if Neo gets out of the cat alive, I have faith that he will reconsider and come to reason and understand that everything he did is wrong... (as they explained to us how Alyx did at the last moment) if he arrives to be lucky (I hope), if not, it's time to say goodbye to one more idol in this adventure :(

Neo’s real name is Trivia. Neo was her Semblance’s first manifestation, and her alternate personality. When Trivia accepted Neo as her new dominant personality, she began subconsciously using her semblance on half her hair. If Cat fully took over, why is Neo’s hair still visible?

The sad thing is that she hasn't been focus on or even developed for much of the series other than just being the cute and psycho girl with her dead crush. The episode where she got possessed was probably the most character development she got since the Roman Holiday Book.

It would be better if we were given context of how she knows the information or maybe if she really doesn't know about those casualties explain that when her powers evolved that includes that she can project whathever her victim's guilt is about. Leaving some things up to interpretation can be good but it also can be bad.

I think Juane is going to get his semblance next episode....I feel like it would be the perfect time. Throughout volume 8 juane has had moments with heat. There was his sweat that evaporated upon hitting the ground in the cave and then that heater that he tapped to start working when ren was popping off. Now Weis bodies him off the ledge using fire dust. His character was able to live out part of his dream which I think could be enough to trigger his semblance......but this is just me putting my headcanon theory into words......in the comments.....of a video.......about neo 🙃

Neo is a girl who has only ever really wanted friends but never got a chance to have any due to her shitty parents. Once she finally got a genuine friend in Torchwick, her entire life became centered around him. Losing the only friend she ever had ended up driving Neo into an all-consuming obsession with revenge, and she ended up losing herself to that obsession. She is the most compellingly tragic character in the show in my opinion, because she's not inherently evil and doesn't blow her trauma response past the point of absurdity (*cough cough* Cinder). She's chaotic, obsessive, and extremely dangerous, sure, but not to the point of being irredeemable.

Waited 2 years and 9 episodes just to get one thing that will effect the main plot going forward. I swear if RWBY comes back the same as before and we waited these 2 years to have nothing change I’m going to freak out

Well the kill was self defense. And also I don't think it be the only time a member of team rwby kills. In fact, I think ruby will be the next member to actually kill. And I see Weiss being the only member at the end of the series that does not kill.
This got me almost crying. Honestly I don't really like Neo's send off. It's presented as a peaceful moment of redemption even though she absolutely doesn't deserve it. I mean come on, this is the same girl that tried to murder several teenagers (and one preteen) with a cruel smile on her face the whole time, and just two episodes prior also physically and mentally tormented a girl into committing suicide without any remorse. And before you say anything about her "but she did show remorse after killing her", no, she did not. It's even spelled out that her reaction is NOT "I just made a teenage girl commit suicide... what is wrong with me?!" its more "There, I killed her... now what?" Her remorse is the fact that she herself has nothing left to live for, not that Ruby is dead.
Neo has no story, she's a living plot device whose motivations make no sense. Do not tell me about Roman Holiday i'm not interested in supplemental reading if they couldn't be bothered to put it in the show I can't be bothered to read it. Cinder is the one who basically forced Roman into working for her whoch got him killed but she blames Ruby because what? She was standing next to him when he died. Its lazy writing so they can have Neo on hand for plot convinience. Also Neo lost her motivation after "killing" Ruby and has no attachment to Remnant? What about getting revenge on Cinder who betrayed her? From how she treated Ruby its pretty clear she holds deep grudges for much less than what Cinder did to her. I really hate these RWBY roundtable convo's cause its just the voice actors and writers trying ton control the conversation and lead the audience into their way of thinking rather than an actual discussion. Just a big circle jerk.
There is so much wrong here. First off: you don't need her god damn backstory to know her story. The paintings show a pretty good outline of what happened- She was in a miserable family, probably killed them with Roman and then started working for Cinder. I can say this because I never read Roman Holiday and knew this. Second- Roman outright stated he was working for Cinder to save his hide. Meaning he was in no small part willing. Meanwhile Ruby was the one to stop Roman's original arrest in the show, get Roman arrested for the Breach, separate them on the airship after she got aboard. Ruby's done more to harm Roman than Cinder ever did. Third- She JUST got revenge and found out that it didn't SOLVE anything. Why the fuck would she just move on to Cinder, knowing that there's NOTHING ELSE afterwards? And again- Ruby did more to kill Roman. Fourth- That means literally every single commentary or creator expressing their thoughts is trying to control the narrative. When are you going after them? ANd fifth- Except for the previous point: None of this is even YOUR words. I saw that Vexed Viewer video too. You're not even original- you're vomitting up someone else's words for clapback points. Congrats- You're a failure.

It would be better if we were given context of how she knows the information or maybe if she really doesn't know about those casualties explain that when her powers evolved that includes that she can project whathever her victim's guilt is about. Leaving some things up to interpretation can be good but it also can be bad.

This is making me feel like neo rlly is going to die Or soemthing which is really going to make me cry bc neo is such a good and powerful character in rwby. So if she rlly does die I swear I will actually just cry bc we really never got her redemption character moment and she still needs more character development when it comes to characters.

I think Juane is going to get his semblance next episode....I feel like it would be the perfect time. Throughout volume 8 juane has had moments with heat. There was his sweat that evaporated upon hitting the ground in the cave and then that heater that he tapped to start working when ren was popping off. Now Weis bodies him off the ledge using fire dust. His character was able to live out part of his dream which I think could be enough to trigger his semblance......but this is just me putting my headcanon theory into words......in the comments.....of a video.......about neo 🙃

Neo is a girl who has only ever really wanted friends but never got a chance to have any due to her shitty parents. Once she finally got a genuine friend in Torchwick, her entire life became centered around him.
Losing the only friend she ever had ended up driving Neo into an all-consuming obsession with revenge, and she ended up losing herself to that obsession.
She is the most compellingly tragic character in the show in my opinion, because she's not inherently evil and doesn't blow her trauma response past the point of absurdity (*cough cough* Cinder). She's chaotic, obsessive, and extremely dangerous, sure, but not to the point of being irredeemable.

Well the kill was self defense. And also I don't think it be the only time a member of team rwby kills. In fact, I think ruby will be the next member to actually kill. And I see Weiss being the only member at the end of the series that does not kill.
This episode was so disappointing. 7 and 8 got my hopes up that this season wasn’t a complete waste of time
This got me almost crying. Honestly I don't really like Neo's send off. It's presented as a peaceful moment of redemption even though she absolutely doesn't deserve it. I mean come on, this is the same girl that tried to murder several teenagers (and one preteen) with a cruel smile on her face the whole time, and just two episodes prior also physically and mentally tormented a girl into committing suicide without any remorse. And before you say anything about her "but she did show remorse after killing her", no, she did not. It's even spelled out that her reaction is NOT "I just made a teenage girl commit suicide... what is wrong with me?!" its more "There, I killed her... now what?" Her remorse is the fact that she herself has nothing left to live for, not that Ruby is dead.
Neo has no story, she's a living plot device whose motivations make no sense. Do not tell me about Roman Holiday i'm not interested in supplemental reading if they couldn't be bothered to put it in the show I can't be bothered to read it.
Cinder is the one who basically forced Roman into working for her whoch got him killed but she blames Ruby because what? She was standing next to him when he died.
Its lazy writing so they can have Neo on hand for plot convinience.
Also Neo lost her motivation after "killing" Ruby and has no attachment to Remnant? What about getting revenge on Cinder who betrayed her? From how she treated Ruby its pretty clear she holds deep grudges for much less than what Cinder did to her.
I really hate these RWBY roundtable convo's cause its just the voice actors and writers trying ton control the conversation and lead the audience into their way of thinking rather than an actual discussion. Just a big circle jerk.

There is so much wrong here.
First off: you don't need her god damn backstory to know her story. The paintings show a pretty good outline of what happened- She was in a miserable family, probably killed them with Roman and then started working for Cinder. I can say this because I never read Roman Holiday and knew this.
Second- Roman outright stated he was working for Cinder to save his hide. Meaning he was in no small part willing. Meanwhile Ruby was the one to stop Roman's original arrest in the show, get Roman arrested for the Breach, separate them on the airship after she got aboard. Ruby's done more to harm Roman than Cinder ever did.
Third- She JUST got revenge and found out that it didn't SOLVE anything. Why the fuck would she just move on to Cinder, knowing that there's NOTHING ELSE afterwards? And again- Ruby did more to kill Roman.
Fourth- That means literally every single commentary or creator expressing their thoughts is trying to control the narrative. When are you going after them?
ANd fifth- Except for the previous point: None of this is even YOUR words. I saw that Vexed Viewer video too. You're not even original- you're vomitting up someone else's words for clapback points.

Neo has been done incorrectly since Volume 6. This panel is incorrect on almost every aspect of the character.

She’s a sidekick without a boss. Already, that puts her in a bad place. Oh, and her “origin story” is meaningless as it was never a part of the series; they had to shoehorn this in to make it make sense.
