I cannot imagine how it must've felt to learn all of Reptile's tech, strings, openers, and max punishes... only to learn he isn't even playable in story mode
I lived that tragedy on release. It's alright though, a sobbing sprint back to ONI and a bowl of ice cream soothed the pain while I labbed Fury combos, that helped. In a game with no active multiplayer. That had its intended multiplayer component removed before release.
(It's not alright, neither of those things are alright, I'm still salty)

Shao Kahn was the first boss I ever went through multiple tutorials online to figure out as a kid
I just gave up and spammed fire balls with liu kang
I was like 3 or 4 and it took me weeks to beat Shao without any help. But the Raiden one took me a few days.
I would only hit him when he taunted, and I'd mostly just wait for the timer to run out.
@@BringMeTheDiscoin the final fight i figured out a way of beating shao khan easily, it was just ↓+↑+←+B, that metod took me weeks to figure out XD.

Reminder that Shao's AI was NERFED and this IS him playing fair. He could realistically just spam any of his moves indefinitely and you can't do anything to stop him.
The hammer throw is an infinite combo by itself. It's crazy.
I love how the game refuses to let you play as a villain character but they will go the stupid route of making Johnny get beaten by Jax for being annoying.
Sindel's... THAT scene could have been more acceptable if they just gave her a chapter right there and had you fight all the characters in a row as her.
I will always remember, as a person who sucks at mk9 and is mid at X and 11, Shao Khan had one move that always pissed me off, and it’s that damn hammer throw. Hits low and mid, ignores block, and stuns on hit. What fun memories.

I don’t know why but I always find it hilarious seeing Kano and shang tsung shooting RPG’s, which is something I never would see shang tsung ever doing.🐱

Easiest way to beat Shao Khan is jump over him and uppercut him. Use this technique as you see fit Sanic

I remember playing MK9 as a kid and being forced into the corner of the arena a lot when fighting Shao Kahn. To the point where I nicknamed it the Shao Kahn Korner, and called it that anytime a real player or npc cornered me.

Both of his projectiles can be neutral jumped safely, and if you have the space, you can move in with your jump without provoking his shoulder tackle. When you're close enough, you can crossup, and he will waste his tackle trying to counter, at which point you can punish with a full combo, and possibly squeeze in some extra zoning before he can react."

While I play MKXL First, I Remember fondly on playing the Story Mode in MK9,and how hard it was with the Bosses,mainly Goro,Kintaro,and Yes Shao Kahn,hell I played All of the Roster in the Arcade to get the Endings and I regret (kinda) Nothing,however it did took Months to do Finish It not gonna Lie.

I really want to play this game before Mk1 comes out but this game play is hilarious.
I understand Sonic isn't great at fighters, he just loves MK, which tbh, is how I wish most people were about the game. But watching him run from projectiles while playing Smoke was a little trying on my soul.

I recently figured out a trick when fighting Shao Khan. I dunno how common this knowledge is, but if you jump at him when he throws the hammer you can dodge it and go in for an easy combo, but if it hits you anyway, you'll just get knocked on your back and not stunned, you could use this to chain into a combo

I remember struggling in the tower, the final challenge of my Mileena vs all 3 Bosses and Mileena in 1 health bar.
I was a decent Mileena, by decent on average I won like 3/4 online fights. Almost everyone loved spamming Scorpions teleports or Kabals ranged attack and Mileenas teleport was a hard counter cause she can teleport mid jump.
I remember first try I got to Shao Kahn. Then another to Mileena, and another to Goro. My competence was so inconsistent, it felt like every try was shifting to boiling the liquid in my brain to microwaving it, to just rotting to my families concern cause they were watching me trying and failing for what felt like 2 hours till I finally ascended to the next level and I beat the tower!

The fact that they left Shao Kahn broken and they never bother to patch it amazes me still. Its also funny how after this they made sure to fix all there bosses and made sure to change their difficulty based on your difficulty settings.
