This video is sharing a exploring experience of a Coalmine which is underground in Ireland.In todays videos I head to Arigna to see the old underground coal mine which is now a mining experience and attraction.

Mining in the area dates back to the 1600's when an Iron works was built at Arigna. The local inhabitants have mined the area for generations all by hand until more modern tools were available. The first transport of coal were done with horse and cart until the railway was extended to Arigna.
In 1958 the ESB built a power station as Arigna had vast deposits of coal which would supply the station. At its peak Arigna was supplying up to 55 000 tons per year.
As the supply of high grade coal became exhausted the mine closed in 1990 and the power station demolished.
After the closure people of the area recognized a opportunity to create something that would preserve there mining history and boost the local economy. Plans were in place to create an attraction that would bring visitors local and abroad to see this experience.
In 2003 Arigna Mining Experience was opened which was part funded by the community.
In 2019 the centre was extended to include a Cafe, gift shop and a audio visual area.
