Underwater Fishing Camera Comparison - Akaso EK7000 Pro vs Akaso V50 Pro vs Akaso V50 Elite

Fish, lures, waterfalls and more were put in front of these cameras in order to find out which budget camera is the best between the Akaso V50 Pro, V50 Elite and EK7000 Pro. Underwater footage is side by side with commentary and my opinion of which did the best in each category.

There are a lot of in-depth reviews of these Akaso budget action cameras concerning the mic, image stabilization, etc, but none that I could find testing the underwater picture quality of these 3 cameras. So I decided to buy the Akaso V50 Pro and V50 Elite to compare with the EK7000 Pro I've been using for all my underwater filming so far. Akaso is a bargain version of the Go Pro that uses a waterproof case in order to film beneath the surface.
This video is specifically focused on the categories that are most important to my purpose of filming fish -- zoom performance, slow motion comparison, full light comparison, low light comparison, battery life and color comparison.
While a Go Pro is definitely a good thing to have, many people (including myself) don't want to shell out the extra $300 when you can get a pretty decent image quality with a knock-off. A new Go Pro Hero 9 is $400 just for the camera and a single battery -- let alone extra batteries which are pricey as well.

FYI: The Akaso battery life for all 3 cameras is significantly higher (more than double) when the resolution is lowered to 1080p (HD) rather than 4k. I didn't test 720p but I imagine it is even longer.

Thank you!! Yeah I was really considering a Hero 7 black, but these Akasos work pretty well and you can buy more batteries with the money you save.
@@EParkFishing are you able to hook up an external power supply? Or mic?
There is an external mic for the V50 pro and Elite, but not the EK7000 Pro. Batteries are removable and have a charger. They all come with 2 batteries.
For anyone wondering, to get better colours on the elite you NEED to to switch to vivid colour mode. It makes things clearer and the colours look less dead with it.

I’m very glad I found this vid, I do have a question. I’m planning to buy a camera like these for free-diving spearfishing.. I would have to mount it like on my head via strap lol, I would be using it to dive up to -100 feet. Witch of these would you recommend ? Thanks

Hello, I just found your channel and subbed. I'm really digging your underwater footage. I'm going to have to borrow some of your techniques! I myself have quite a bit of underwater stuff using a golfball retriever with a gopro mounted on the end, or just wading out and setting a gopro on a tripod and coming back later and see what I got.

Now I'm confused again.
Been spending 4 days on this computer looking at Action Cams. Trying to get away cheap as I can but good quality. Almost ordered the V50Pro but thought I had my mind made yp and was going to spend a little more and get the DJI Osmo Action. Don't fell like spending that much and the cost of the add ons will get me up to $300 real easy.
Now I seen your video with the Akaso V50Pro I been looking at. Now I'm really thinking about the V50Pro again.

I feel your pain! Honestly that's why I made this -- sooo many options it'd easy to get lost. I really did just have the 3 cameras side by side but just used my phone to film the intro and outro.
That being said, all my other underwater footage is the EK7000 Pro like on my my Trout Reactions video. It's a damn good value for $70. But I would still recommend the V50 Pro. It's still only $110 and has much better image plus the option of an external mic. I still want to get a GoPro someday, but it just doesn't seem worth it for me right now.

I got one off of Amazon and tried it out. Still trying to work out the kinks. The fish seemed pretty put off by the light! This is definitely a topic I want to explore further

I just bought a V50 Elite but since this review was a bit more than 2 years ago (old), I'm hoping the firmware update on my V50 Elite makes things better. V50 Elite = Ver. 20220930-V3 .... as you can see, it's more recent to my comment today.
Hello please answer my question about how to get better sound on my ek7000 will sound be better when I convert my videos to laptop..... I haven't found any external mics online for the ek7000
Do you think it'd be possible to drop these down to about 100ft? Usually jigging for trout around that depth and wanna try and see what's down there.
It can go down to 30m (98ft) so yeah almost! Maybe throw a rubber band around the case if you want to go deeper. I want to try that out here on the Oregon coast myself. The V50 pro and elite have a diving mode too. Thanks for watching!

It's still not a bad camera! Just being side by side makes it look worse. By itself the picture is pretty good. I'm working on a Go Pro 6 vs 7 vs V50 Pro video right now so make sure not to miss it! Thanks for watching!
You also have to remember that it will do 4k 60fps which will always look better too
Ek7000 pro? is it good for diving or taking shots underwater? I mean for spearfishing
Iv taken my 7000 pro to the Philippines and was in the water the whole time with pretty damn good footage. Well worth the price for what it is.

I have the V50x and it does not have autofocus which is very important for what I do, I would like to know if the other models of this camera have autofocus
Absolutely the Ek7000 pro focuses sharply on anything farther than about a foot away. It doesn't necessarily "auto focus" but just has a sharp image all around like a go pro. What do you use it for?
@@EParkFishing is what I'm going to use it for is to mount it on my scope to record the hunting videos, you can search CZcams for Scopecam and you will see what a camera with auto focus is used for

I just ordered me the EK7000 Pro a couple minutes ago
I guess there is only a fingerprint on the lense (middle Camera)
Nope! I always clean the lenses plus it came out blurry on 5 different filming sessions. It's just a worse lens on the Elite unfortunately.
The V50 Pro X was good when it first came out, now akaso added a cheaper chip in it and the photo quality isn't as sharp. The EK7000 Pro is the best camera Akaso has right now bang for ur buck.
Akaso v50 pro really work well, i used it in night spearfishing and i love the footages its clear and has natural color. Check my videos and test👍👍

Audio is pretty good on the V50 Pro. I don't remember the Elite, but EK7000 pro doesn't have the best audio FYI

Awesome! Yeah I was really torn between a go pro hero 7 black and another akaso. I still want to get a go pro because I like the fact that they are waterproof without a case. But I got these cameras cuz I thought it'd be a cool video! Which go pro did you get?
@@EParkFishing I got an off brand one for 49 bucks, it's called a "Dragon touch" vision 3, got it off of Amazon, relatively good video, and has a waterproof case, check it out!
