Dk is definitely the type of guy to have a 1 button remote
The real question is, if he was flicking through channels one by one, how did he go back one channel if he has only one button?
I keep wondering how was he able to change channels in 2 directions.
Maybe if he pressed on the upper edge it changed one direction while lower edge changed the other direction lol xD
It could also be a dial, with button functionality built in.
Y'all have never used the lil button on earbuds? literally double/triple tap to go back, although since only one click can be heard, the upper/lower edge idea above seems to be what's happening here
I'm so glad they kept the
"Mmmm ... bananas... Mmmm"
It's so subtly iconic for this game
But at 0:05 looks like they replaced a vaguely spanish speaking voice with some music
@@ramezfouad4991 0:07 The shy guy speaking fast was also removed..that was probably because we didn’t hear the voice until sometime later I’m not sure
I like the ❤s in his eyes better 0:25
It isn’t even compressed now.
@@ramezfouad4991😢Goodbye to *Dos Cero Tres Ochenta y Ocho Y Te.*
Never, ever, ever did I think I'd see this in HD officially.
I'm holding out for it in 4k on Switch 2, doesn't look good enough on such an underpowered console 😉
0:10 hearing the sounds being HQ is so uncanny to hear When I’m known to remember the GBA game
It’s certainly something and……I like
@@exoflex_1 yeah I'm just being silly, Nintendo games don't really need 4k for the most part
IKR? I have the original on my DSI!!!!!
DONKEY KONG
I really appreciate how animated this opening is. Details like Donkey Kong breathing are charming to me.
Same
And his nostrils are better designed then the old Muppet DK design.
I’m so glad Toad still says “THEY’RE 40 DOLLAS”
Unfortunately, DK is no longer a big monkey 😢

@@Christoph8 Well he never was. He's always been a gorilla.
@@Christoph8Mario never called him a big monkey in these two cutscenes.
What an amazing opening; they did a fantastic job remaking this; even better scenes
Ikr, I remember playing this game with a friend on DS when I was a kid, and I remember that classic cutscene, seeing this animated and in hd makes it feels so nostalgic!
@@joaovitorsampaiomonteiro5431 But the original Mario vs. Donkey Kong came out out on the GameBoy Advance, not the Nintendo DS.
@@MarioTrioNumber1but the DS could play GBA games. maybe that’s how they remember it.
@@cowboyluigi5275 , yeah, kind of that, I mean, GBA wasn’t available in my country so I think he had the game in an SD card or something 🤷♂️, I don’t remember
But they cut out some of Mario’s lines…
the nostalgia is unreal here, ive barely thought of this game since i played it as a child so this was a crazy throwback
TOAD STILL SAYS "They're forty dollars" PEAK HAS BEEN PRESERVED
But DK doesn't say "Hey, cool!" as he fills his sack...
I cannot believe that the Mini Mario toy was so interesting to DK that he changed the channel on a show about bananas.
His house is filled with them, though.
DK’s face at 0:40 is something we can all relate
When something you want to get sold out
Yup that relatable
@@sebastiankon123Sounds like what GTA VI is going to be like, ngl.
DK: Dang it, All the PS5(s) are sold out
@@thatguy763and the switch 2
I feel bad for him. He came all the from his island to the mushroom kingdom to get a mini Mario only to find out it’s sold out.
I absolutely love how well the still-image cutscene translated into fully-animated HD. They could have just brought this to the Online Expansion Pack but they're literally putting childhood memories into the upscaler here and the results are incredible, Can't wait to see the rest of the overhaul
I’m one of those who still thinks that the original GBA version of this game will come to the Game Boy Advance - Nintendo Switch Online streaming app so that both old and new Nintendo players can look at and compare the differences.
@@samuelgiles7571 Yeah; I thought that for Super Mario RPG as well but nothing yet. Time will tell, but it'd be a good idea
YES, the toads still say "they're 40 dollars"
I love that!
And they still have the Mmmm Bannas Mmmm
Although I’m gonna miss the shy guy speaking fast
Despite the funny Mario Italian gibberish being absent in this opening, I still think this remake looks absolutely fantastic! I really love how expressive the characters and they even added some little neat details.
Also not everyone talk about it but the way they redone the songs in this game so far is just *chief kiss*.
Man we're really getting banger Mario remakes lately! Can't wait to play it!
I don't think the new mario voice actor can do the Italian gibberish another reason ima miss Charles
"Ooooh you mama mia, asdjfjslslzjsjfido"
@@VilaToro64 They're reusing voice clips
@@VilaToro64Bud Afghani does Mario Italian gibberish in Wonder right in the opening cutscene when Mario's talking to Luigi. Yes he very much can and that doesn't even matter in this because they're reusing voice clips from the original GBA game and the more recent games.
@chrange9714 idk about that I tried to listen hard but couldn't hear nothing just a couple of grunts and mmhmms
The fact they got rid of Mario's funny lines from the original is sacrilege
no they didnt, the funni big monkey line isnt from this scene, its from the scene before the final boss
@@marioluigibros.8176Actually, it’s in the second cutscene.
I'm guessing they're saving them for other cutscenes.

Woah... this is amazing! To see what were static images on GBA become fully animated in really good CGI...
It's amazing!
I've always adored the original game, the concept, graphics and replay-ability of it...but I always disliked that the intro scenes weren't animated, that was my ONLY complaint!
After all these years I got my wish, and it was well worth the wait...just brilliant, so excited for this!
0:11. "Mmm.. Bananas.. Mmm!"
I'm so glad they kept that in, lol! It's so iconic.

Was that Toad’s old voice?
Now I need someone to put this with the original cutscene to see the differences!
A bunch of still images lol

This look great, I love the redone music, and it's neat to hear them still keeping some of the original voice clips (not counting DK's new clips)
Sad that Mario lost his talkativeness from the original's opening though
Well, now Kevin Afghani is Mario's newest voice actor since Super Mario Bros Wonder.
@@mackenziewachter2508 bro
that wasn't kevin
IT WAS CHARLES MARTINET
less talkative? He talks just as much as the og game in this...
@@JTShineAre you sure? Because in the original when he sees Donkey Kong with the Mini-Marios, he says "Hey! Come back here!" and "No you don't, no you don't!" and in the remake he doesn't.
big fan of your work, especially the protoman dub great job
The 1 button remote is a gag that will never expire.
Just re hearing Charles Martiney voice as Mario again is making me cry tears of joy.
Omg, seeing this opening in HD is definitely a fever dream! ❤❤❤
Never in my whole life did I expect to get an HD version of this… I'm not talking about the whole thing, I'm just talking about the "Mmm bananas, mmm" part, I made it my notification sound, and now I have it in higher quality!
I never thought I'd see the day this cutscene got remade.
It's truly dishonoring that we didn't get to hear Mario say "Come back here you big-a monke" in high quality.
Edit: Okay, I'm sorry. That voiceline is in the next cutscene so this might not be true.
Common mistake, he doesn't say that until a later cutscene, not on the opening.
We heard Charles Martinet that's so good that they're keeping his voice!!! I have to say I don't like Kevin Afghans voice like at all
@@rymehr8826 skill issue
@@Vikumax Oh, okay. I hope that the line is still where it's supposed to be
Edit: I just checked and Mario says it in the 2nd cutscene. And from how much voicelines have been cut in the remaster I'm pretty sad to say Mario doesn't say the funny line.
@@rymehr8826 Both of them are great in my opinion.
This was recreated perfectly. Even down to the sound effects, simply amazing
I hope this gets more people to accept that Mario is a New York Italian
0:27
Looking out the door…
He’s not living in the jungle…
He’s a resident of both Kongo Jungle AND the Mushroom Kingdom?
That explains why so many people heard Martinet since they seem to be using remastered audio from the original cutscenes. Hope that means all of Mario's funny lines come back in the later cutscenes
hey! come back here, you big-a monkey! - mario, before the base game final boss
He didnt say 'get back here you bit monkey'
Given this opening got rid of his ramblings when confronting DK, I'm getting the feeling they're not there
@@HypeVoiceActingAnd given that the trailers show they've kept a bunch of his original lines, they very likely are there. Stop acting all devastated cause they took out one rambling line.
@@HypeVoiceActingor perhaps not all of them. I mean Jen Taylor’s voice is still heard for the Toads, and for some reason DK has his current VA instead of Grant Kirkhope’s archival audio.
0:07 bro is spitting facts
It makes sense now.
In the first version of the game’s first cutscene, Mario just entered in without looking confused, like a superhero.
And now we see Mario actually finding out what’s going on.
0:04 Was that the OG final boss theme? If so, nice deep cut
it was the og final boss theme. I hope it keeps that intensity and not be a full jazz song.
I love this opening!
I love that they kept the “Buy them all! Buy them all!” Subliminal message.
Never expected this classic to return.
DK with a tv remote and sitting like a human is blessed
MMMMMMMMM BANANAS 0:11
I still love the fact DK went to buy them legitimately first before deciding to ransack the factory. If the shop increased their stock this entire conflict would have never happened
1:09 In the Original game DK says his line. "HEY! COOL!"
I think it’s “They Cool!”
I thought I was watching the sequel to the Mario Movie, the team really put out the work!
0:05 Noooooo they removed the funny ah "Dos, Cero, Tres, Ochenta y Ocho Híper-" line
And they replaced it with the final boss music
0:39
Metal Gear Alert sound!
(I wish…)
1:09
DK bag…
magically appears…
from nowhere…
I think the bag was already in the factory
@VictorFusion
Take a closer look at the scene when Donkey starts barging into the factory. He storms in with *no bag.* The shot where the Toads start panicking shows the box of Mini Marios, *no bag in sight,* next shot where Donkey approaches them, *no bag in sight,* next shot where he steals the toys, *bag is present out of the blue.* It just happens to have the DK logo. So am I supposed to believe that (20 years later) the Toad workers “intended” to deliver a full sack of Mini Marios for Donkey Kong from the very get-go?
The original GBA cutscenes didn’t have a step-by-step detail of what’s going, but the events happen during the transitions of one still shot to another. Here, it’s fully animated. So I’m already seeing some continuity errors…
0:01-0:04
When I heard that sound effect from the Adam Sandler Netflix movie Leo, Mario vs Donkey Kong on Gameboy Advanced was what immediately came to my mind.
0:48 THATS how you pull off a reference jingle
This just put a big grin on my face. I love seeing Donkey Kong in cutscenes
Remember, just because it's not in the intro, doesn't mean it may not be in the game at all
Mario says "oh ya mamamiahdjshduchehhdhsdto" and "come back here you big monkey" multiple times in the game so there is a chance we'll still hear it somewhere
DK is tired of waiting for a new game he decided to rob Mario 😢
Always wanted to see this cutscene in HD.
Donkey Kong ran from The Jungle to Brooklyn just to get a Mario Toy
Wait a minute how did he get back to the previous channel with only one button on his remote!?
Maybe this remote needs two quick presses to go backwards. Like cable headphones do.
I kinda thought Kevin Afghani would make new voice lines for Mario. At the end of the video, they sounded like reused Charles Martinet lines.
"Mmmh...Bananas...Mmmh"
IT'S STILL THERE! YEEEES!❤
0:12 this is perfect
Mmm Bananas Mmm
0:06 Shy guy is the news anchorman 😂
I’m so going to get this on the Switch.
0:07 SHY GUY ON THE NEWS!
I'm happy that they kept Charles Martinet voice in this ☺️
I legit want one of those Mario toys
Same, it better be an actual wind-up toy, which can walk.
I'm glad they were able to recreate the original feel with a lot of the same sounds, they kept the Mini Mario ad and the "Hmmm... Bananas... Hmmm..." intact. But I still have a few issues with it.
1. The last two notes of the DK jingle in this kinda break the menacing feel. In the original, the last notes were long. Here it ends abruptly and on a higher note, breaking the sense of danger that the original had.
Also since the original had longer notes at the end, the transition into the theme that comes right after was pretty smooth, while here it's a pretty abrupt transition between the two themes.
2. A bit more nitpicky but DK's "Heeey... Cool !" line when he puts the minis in his bag was pretty fun and I'm sad they replaced it by DK's monkey sounds instead.
3. And finally, the worst thing of all, they replaced Mario's iconic and funny " Hey, come back here !" No, you don't. No you don't ! ... What are you doing ? What's-a going on here ? ... Oh you mama mia *italian gibberish* " with just "Hey, wait !". It's sad.
Theory: Maybe the DK voice should’ve stayed intact but as for Mario… The original w/ Mario had compressed sounds and the original uncompressed voice clips were lost.. and they couldn’t recreate them this time around since Charles Martinet is no longer voicing Mario. Maybe Kevin could’ve voiced it but this is only a remake, not a new game.
i THOUGHT something was missing at the end there
Wonder why'd they cut all of Mario's lines?
@@ptanker9236 I really doubt that.
@@AtlasTheMayor I dunno.
@@ptanker9236The DK voice didn't have to stay at all, it's not his current voice actor. It's called modernizing, not everything has to be one to one. It's a remake. And Mario's GBA lines are still here and used, just cleaned up. Those lines probably are in the remake just in another cutscene.
@0:39 That was many of us when the NES Classic Edition first came out!
Yes that is Charles Martinet’s voice acting, but it’s just certain clips of his voice from PAST GAMES. I don’t think he’s back on the mic.
0:48 0:59 I love the musical references to the classic Donkey Kong game. ^w^
This remake looks so cool! Good job.
Glad That Nintendo Made Mario With His Classic Martinet Voice
Mmmm bananas 🤣
Ahhh Charles. It's so good to hear you one last time ❤
I wish there can be a remake of Donkey Kong 94 the prequel to Mario vs Donkey Kong.
Blew my mind when I found out about that game. I'd love to see them remake that. Would be nuts seeing Young Cranky and DK Jr make a reappearance.
20 years later and we get HD quality
0:16 we can all do it
Hearing some of the original audio samples in high quality is so surreal
Dashie gonna have a field day with this one
Mario is less angry than he was meant to be.
I remember this being one of the only games I had on the 3ds, one of my brothers' favorite intros we just kept on playing it. This is so cool to see
K.Rool stole all the bananas while DK chases the Mario Toys.
The return of Charles Martinet as the voice of Mario
If they don’t bring back, “you big monkey” Mario’s gonna do something illegal
1:03 they just freak out for seeing donkey LMAO
I dont blame them. Angy DK isn’t something you wanna mess with.
Imagine being a Toad working and a giant monkey comes and steals all your hard work! LMAO. Good video!
Dk got that cartoon looking remote.
Wow, that was awesome! I can't wait to play this once I've saved up!
The Voice of Mario heeeeeeeeeeessss baaaaaack
0:10 - MAN this commercial takes me back so much! Really just brings me back to playing this on my Game Boy Advance back when I was a kid.😌
The DK64 reference is appriciated.
I know it's no longer Charles Martinet but I hope Mario stills says "hey come back here! You big-a-monkey!"
I’d trust Shy Guy News over any real life news channel.
Notice this time there put green Toad and purple Toad as cameo in the game
This is so surreal to see with 3d HD graphics
A one-buttoned remote? How's that gonna work?
Well, Mario voices are actually Charles voice lines in this game.
Here's hoping that the rest of the cutscenes will get the same kind of treatment.
Mario on this sounded exactly like how Charles Martinet used to sound.
I'm a little sad that the scenes are partially changed, originally Mario just came running in pissed asf shouting Italian slurs... now this dude is just saying HEY WAIT after peacefully walking to his factory... so close to perfection
0:00 hold up? Is that a kindergartner from Leo I’m hearing on TV? 👀
