You don't need to tell yourself you are friends with the streamer to enjoy their content. Internet and T.V. personalities will never be your friend just enjoy them for what they are. Entertainment.

this might be a hot take but the entire nature of twitch and streaming in general reinforces a deeper feeling of attachment/connection than youtube or traditional media do and I think it's quite naive to blame people for getting attached when they spend hours with you on a daily basis (which is encouraged).
I mean how do you expect people to separate the content from the streamer when the content *is* the streamer
@Porkchopsrock12 you can feel a connection all you want. Thats not his point. His point is directed at the people who think they will get more at some point. Some sort of validation that the streamer cares about them as much as they do. It's natural to feel a connection that's what keeps you coming back but don't think it goes both ways.
@Porkchopsrock12 I mean your right that as a streamer you need to form a relationship with "the chat", but that's exactly what it is just the chat. As a streamer as big as Ludwig how can you individualize thousands upon thousands of viewers? All he can do is entertain and be entertaining. I don't view it as any different than watching a movie. You can't be friends with the actors in a movie. The problem lies with the viewers seeing interaction with the chat as a relationship when in reality he's just entertaining. I don't think its unfair for Ludwig to regularly make clear that they are just "the chat" and there is no room for elevation in that relationship. I mean people have literally been killed by delusional fans who think they are entitled to something more. Could he have been nicer about? Sure. At the end of the day I bet he'd rather break a few hearts by telling them he'll never be their friends than not and winding up with a stalker.
@Porkchopsrock12 seems like the only thing we really disagree on is that I feel like he should be clarifying it more often. In fact I think most streamers should be straight up about it. I think so long as you start out with the statement that the chat will only ever be the chat i think most people can accept that fact. But if you string them along telling the chat how you love them and that they mean the world to you that when emotions can start to grow and that when I feel like it starts to get dangerous. its best just to rip the band aid off quick. Not saying he should be ungrateful just honest with them. Its a business and his product is entertainment the viewers should only expect that from him.
