      Actually for the video, they did playback of the music at half speed, they played it back at twice the speed in time with the music to make it look "normal". They couldn't move fast enough with the costumes on.

    In the making of documentary, they slowed the song down so that the band could play the song more easily in their suits, the sped it back up to normal.
    That's why the bassist can seemingly move so fast with all that stuff on.

    Great reaction. Re: the writing on the drum kit: Buck Naked and the Bare Bottom Boys were a Rockabilly band that used to play in San Francisco in the late 80's/early 90's. Tragically, the band leader (aka Professor Buck Naked) was shot to death while walking his dogs by a crazy pigeon feeding dude that was upset that the dogs were scaring away birds in the park. This video was made a few years later and Primus included the actual Buck Naked drum kit as a tribute to their friend...

      Thats why you never see songs such as southbound (about global warming), laquerhead (about the dangers of huffing) and too many puppies (about the govt sending young kids to war to die) for example in any of these vids. They are too "serious" and their dark messages are too clear and not masked by "humorous goofiness"

      True, but the song was inspired by a fishing trip when Claypool was walking back from his boat and a huge beaver came out of the water and scared the hell out of him.

  • @narcissistectomy5134
    @narcissistectomy5134 Před 4 lety

    The story behind the song, as I heard it...
    Les Claypool loves fishing in his downtime. He was out fishing with friends when they saw a beaver up on the banks. His friend exclaimed something like “Whoooa, that is one big brown beaver.” Les liked the silly sound of “big brown beaver,” and that’s where the idea came from. When they started developing the song, they thought it was just going to be a bullshitty little track to move the album along. But it just kept gaining momentum in the studio, and when the album dropped they were surprised to find out it was actually really popular. So they found themselves making a music video for a song they took as a joke. There are some clever jokes weaved into it, but as Les says, “truth be told, it’s just a silly song about a woman who loves her pet beaver.” That’s pretty believable when you examine the body of that album’s lyrics - most of the songs are just humorous little musings they wrote.
    And that’s how Wynona got herself that big brown beaver.
