I like Draco in this one the most. He looks not as cartoonishly evil as he is portrayed in the books and partially in the movies. His character had so much potential, yet Rowling did not develop him in any significant way. Such a shame.

Actually I always thought of the first two Potter films as 80s throwbacks. They have a distinctly "Amblin'" style to them, having been directed by Young Sherlock Holmes scribe Chris Columbus, with effects by ILM and scores by John Williams.
We already did have such a thing -- Mazes and Monsters, 1983, made for TV so everyone could watch it for free. Dark fantasy, wands and witchcraft in an academic setting. No happy ending either.
If Harry Potter had been made in the '80s, Alan Rickman would be the perfect age to play Snape, Sigourney Weaver looks insane as Bellatrix but I don't think they would have approved of her for being American. I like how Neville looks here.
Had this been made in the 80s, it'd have probably two remakes by now and a tv series. Being from the 2000s, I'd probably enjoy whatever came out around my childhood.
