This was from the “SARSstock” concert that The Rolling Stones headlined to help Toronto get back on its feet after the SARS virus shut things down for a time. AC/DC and a number of other bands were there, including RUSH. The crowd was about a half-million in Downsview Park.
This was Sarstock in Toronto which was a benefit for the city of Toronto after the Sars outbreak which was put on by the Rolling Stones. There was around 400,000 people with a number of bands performing including of course Rush.
This is one of my favourite guitar solos by Alex Lifeson.
His solo has a bittersweet to it.
Three geniuses in one band!
Stones, AC/DC, Rush, Tea Party, Guess Who, Sam Roberts, Justin Timberlake and more. Amazing day!
@bradbolger7901 def checking this show out, never knew about it before, let alone the lineup lol thank you 🙏
This song is definitely one of the Rush songs I listen to while rehearsing my bass. The melody is constantly enhanced with Geddy Lee's bass fills that require dexterity, and Alex Lifeson's solo is his textbook original style. The one thing that always held my admiration for the song is Neil Peart's admission and honesty in the line, "I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend." He's known for being shy and more private in his life. Great tune!
Hey my friend, seen RUSH (Power Windows Tour) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada! Metro Center was packed 20000 fans!😀👌👍✌
From when I heard 'Working Man', and I was what 12 or 13 yrs?, I started buying all of the RUSH albums. Saw them Live a number of times and still love hearing them and seeing others are now appreciating them as well.
Wow would have loved to be there!!!!
All 3 are absolute masters of their instruments. I always felt that Roll the Bones was one of their underrated albums.
Some others here have mentioned La Villa Strangiato. Definitely go find that one live, I recommend one of the later live ones. Another great one live is Jacob's Ladder from R40 live.
I play the drums and try to sing my best. It's just as hard to play drums and sing as playing bass and singing. Now to Geddy Lee's credit, he also plays keyboards and sometimes kick tracks with his feet all in the same song blended together beautifully to give Rush that signature sound. Believe me that is very hard! RIP Neil! ❤
Always loved Limelight, never get tired of it. Part of the perfect album side Moving Pictures side 1.
Hey buddy, love your reactions they're so funny! Long time Rush fan so take it from me, if you really want a treat then check out the audio version of By-Tor and the Snowdog from the Fly By Night album and also the live version from the Rush in Rio DVD. ALSO the audio version of The Necromancer from the Caress of Steel Album!! 🎸 🥁
No auto-tune just 3 meistros on stage together. One of the best bands ever.
The concert was in Toronto, 400,000 fans
Great reaction man.
You need to check out 2112. Blows my hair back every time I hear it.
'SONGWISE', LIMELIGHT is one of their best. It's not a real 'ROCKY' song, but just great melody, structure, lyric........ while underneath the easy-listening, mass-appealing quality it has, the great musicianship is still there.
Great reaction as usual Jay! BTW, another advantage of only having 3 guys in the band?....Only 3 guys to pay!! ( of course split with the Road Crew and Managment ..)
Toronto the Sars concert.
Cheers
This is considered one of the most popular songs, but for me it's somewhere in the middle. My favorite Rush song is called the garden, but I gotta warn you it's not a banger it's a slower one. If you want some bangers I would go with something like headlong flight or dreamline. If you want an older banger go with working Man live from Cleveland you can never go wrong, or La Villa strangiato for a combination of both
Try test for echo live Rush 1997.or show don't tell live 1990.😊😊😊
Next up!! AC/DC 😊
the crowd only turned up to witness John Peart :)
@@leoevs441 Whoever they meant to say, the statement is wrong. All 3 guys are equally valued and loved by most fans.
Maybe check out NEIL PEART Buddy Rich HONOR????? Surprises awaits!! :) ♥AND, or... Victor Wooten bass music????????? :) “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13
3 guys...with an overabundance of talent.
This for me is one of my favorites, it's very introspective to the adversarial side of fame. The professor, being the lyrist, was a very introverted person and sums it up perfectly with the line "I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend" I instantly connected with that 40 years ago. 😉
