      Headlight construction includes steel, incandescent bulb, D cell batteries and quarter-inch glass dome. Total app. weight of item totals in at somewhere around 5-10 pounds.
      Two words.
      Neck strain.
      A more modern version would be powered by button cells, constructed of aluminum and plastic and replacing the inefficient and dim incandescent with a more powerful LED. However, the item in question would look no less ridiculous than it's early twentieth century progenitor, and would be more likely to blind the wearer rather than attract prospective mates.

      The light on the head idea was used in TV commercials for a British loan and mortgage company called Ocean Finance (who now do credit cards as well) a few years back. They had a TV channel on British satellite and their adverts featured people wearing lightbulbs on their heads which would light up whenever the TV channel was mentioned.

    Apart from the few dresses, it's funny how people usually imagine future clothing as some sort of sterile utility uniform (like the dress that can be adjusted for a different occasion) or a space suit. I hope fashion will never be like that. We may be technically more advanced, but that doesn't mean we will stop caring for pretty clothes, make-up, design etc.

    • @Chameleon1616
      @Chameleon1616 Před 10 lety +7

      It was the whole idea of functionality. It's why minimalism came into fashion. It's all about abandoning decoration and art to replace it with pure efficiency. Classic archetecture and human culture in general suffer'd as thing where constructed cheaply and of poor quality with no imagination or decoration. They imagined the future like a bunch of robots. Barely any culture at all.

    • @kaitourobin3206
      @kaitourobin3206 Před 5 lety

      @@Chameleon1616 Don't worry the idea had been completely abandoned in the Architectural world. Not to anyone surprised you can still have efficient design well still keeping culture and beautiful design. Actually a lot times they found out the old way was better. Almost like before 20 century they had over 2 thousands years worth of trail and error for designs across the world.

      its not about them being demonized... its just anybody is creepy if they come up to you trying to give you candy... "hey cutie... have a piece of candy" especially dressed like that I'd scream and run the other way.

      Every oddly dressed stranger trying to give me food I've ever encountered was a woman, and it was usually considered rude when I refused. I suppose your experience was different. Reversing gender generally does instantly provoke a different response regardless.

      Better yet since "forced to penetrate" isn't "rape" in most places, women in most places never "rape" men. Of course, this comment will probably disappear as did the one before it...

    Wow, that's... that's actually pretty accurate. See-through net, sculpted hair, fewer skirts, temperature control, men fitted with telephones and radios and hidden pockets. For being a 70-year prediction of the world's most volatile industry (fashion), that's creepily on-target.

    I remember convertible clothing from the eighties...I had a whole outfit in highschool - I forget the brand now, but they were very popular - OMG - Multiples! That was the brand! I remember! Skirts that became tube tops, dresses that became skirts, shirts that turned into skirts, etc.. Anyway...that went the way of the dinosaur...

    What the 1930s thought how the clothes will look in the 2000s.. I think they hit it on the spot. ;) trousers for women, rompers, heel-less shoes/wedges, 'swish' dresses (maxi dresses), peplum tops/short sleeves, netted or mesh clothing, updo buns, electronic devices carried by men... Oh and candies for cuties ;)
