That is a great question. One thing that I thought of was to get a post dig on a safety out of 2x2 with another option if they drop under it with the LB. That is really the only thing that I can think of. do you have any thoughts on it?
Coaches Caviar Thats a good point, it does give you option to post dig the safeties out of 2x2. I’m just wondering if it’s worth the cost to install and rep when you can go into 3x1 or motion into 3x1 like WSU ran against Arizona in 2018 and ISU in 2018? Clear out/skinny with a dig. I can see where having a post dig in a safety from 2x2 can add variety to the scheme. Since they don’t run it very often, maybe they just want to use to keep defenses a little more honest out of 2x2? I couldn’t think of a reason for them to run it out of 3x1 though.
When you’re as good at Mesh as they are, why even have shallow at all? Is there any scenario when shallow is a better option than mesh?
