Dear Adam hello, for the past two days I been watching your birds I believe the distance between the trap door is a little bit close to each other if you try to make the distance a bit wider your birds going to enter the loft faster .
Put some perches outside of your gate. The birds will be more eager to come down. They prefer grabbing wood with their claws. I installed some old branches in my garden and it really made a difference.
