Let's hope the one with the right idea wins.

It shouldn't necessarily be about what idea is right, it should be what idea works in practice and leads to better consequences.

One person is right and one person is wrong doesn't have to be so.
There are two people, two sides to the debate, who have different insights and knowledge.
When they exchange thoughts they may come to the conclusion that both were in fact wrong or better said incomplete and the answer was found elsewhere. Of course they would have to talk honestly, without bias or prejudges, to in fact be able to come to such a conclusion which means thoughtful disagreement.
People should not start their conversations having in mind that one person is right and the other wrong; or make the conversation a fight about being right, they should start the conversation with the goal of finding the deeper truth.

If only the president could use this with Russia but he won’t consider peace talks or negotiations

Hello Ray, I understand your perspective. Use of mediator would suggest the two people debating are incapable of changing their current viewpoint based on the other explanation. I don’t see how a mediator can mediate someone who inflexible, for example I imagine the likes of Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin to be of that nature. Maybe I’m wrong….

A "neutral third party" can often see the problem and solution clearly. People that have a strong emotional attachment to something will almost always react from their gut feeling. Which is really based on fear, hate, jealousy, pride etc. History is filled with "warnings" from people that could only see their mistakes in hindsight, long after the battles were over. Robert McNamara's documentary "The Fog Of War" is a good recent example.
Human emotions Have-Not-Evolved throughout history. We need to realize this and understand that the human mind isn't capable of rational behavior when under fear and stress. We have been riding this same hamster wheel of attack/revenge/war since creation. When is the world going to try Radical Cooperation and Radical Peace for a Change? It's not like we can't always go back to killing each other if it doesn't work out...
