    I know this was done two years ago but I’m staring one and I am thankful for this tutorial. I have a brother luminaire X P2. But since I’ve had it, I have had nothing but thread breakage, my fabric, needle and thread getting caught and jammed down into the bobbin casing. I use Floriana thread (came with my machine) and I use 75/11 needle. However it is not an Organ needle …. maybe that is my problem? I did take my machine in and was told to use an 80/12 needle. I’ve only had my machine for four months and I’ve taken it in four times.

      Stitch Artist is a digitizing program. Essentials is what I would recommend to start. It's for merging designs and fonts. I recommend watching Lisa Shaw"s video explaining all the Embrilliance modules.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 4 lety

      Hi Lesley, For starters, I'd begin with Essentials. Stitch Artist1 is for digitizers who want to create designs from nothing. It will not allow you to manipulate existing designs. But you should be able to add text to an existing design like I did on this one. I'm sorry but I'm not familiar enough with Stitch Artist to be able to say much about it. Digitizing isn't something I do. Fortunately, Essentials isn't very expensive so if you find you can't merge designs in SA1, then you're not digging a huge hole in your pocket to purchase Essentials. Good luck!

    Becky, do you know in Embrilliance if you can change the order of fonts, change part of the name, remove fonts on Embrilliance? I have some fonts that have been split--same name, one size at the top with the other sizes later in the list and in my font list-part way down- has gotten off so the name is not what I get when I choose the font--not sure if this makes sense. ,I have not found any CZcams videos on this. Hi, I need to make a comment re the threads, you are using good quality threads already so you won’t have issues, but for beginners check the quality of your threads, cheaper threads tend to snap and fray and many a beginner has had problems because of this.
    Another point some machines prefer one brand of thread opposed to another, why I do not know but it is a real thing, so my advice is to try a few different spools, till you find the brand that your machine is happy with😝.
    Both the Iscord and Polyneon are amazing threads (the results with the polyneoen are incredible) personally I reach for that one the most even though it’s an expensive brand, however my train of thought (which is also why I use good quality threads in my sewing machine) if you spending all the time on an item ( some designs can have 1000’s of stitches) be kind to yourself your machine and your sanity and buy good quality threads. You know that saying buy cheap buy twice, not to say you need to throw the cheaper brands out, use them for basting stitches (in sewing) and for design tests on the embroidery machine saving your good threads for the final product.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 4 lety

      I agree about good quality threads. However, I'll also mention that when I was using Schmetz needles, even the Embroidery Gold (titanium) needles, I had continual thread shredding problems regardless of the thread brand: Madiera, Madiera Polyneon, Floriani, Isacord, Exquisite, etc. I took the machine to the repair guy and he sent it back running perfectly. Then? Thread breaks again. I was talking to a Sulky rep and she told me that I should try Organ needles because the Brother/BL machines are timed with them at the manufacturer. Know what? The thread breaks stopped. Completely. So to your point, not only are different machine brands particular about the thread they like, they are particular about the needles they like as well. Thanks for your great input!

    • @parrots9220
      @parrots9220 Před 4 lety

      Power Tools with Thread, I have a Janome embroidery machine, Juki sewing machine and a Juki over locker and I am able to use the SCHMETZ needles in all with success.
      Very interesting point about the needle, that one I did not know, so you see you can teach an old dog new tricks🤣😂😂😂. The organ are also a good brand of needle, it is definitely something to remember and mention when people talk about thread shred, thank you for the information.

    I'm new to this. I assume your embroidery machine comes from the manufacturer with it's own software built in. Does the Embrilliance work in conjunction with this software or is it an entirely new software program that overrides the original software built in the machine? I hope that makes sense. I ask this because I am not happy with the software that came on my Viking. If I purchased Embrilliance I am wondering if I would benefit from some of its features. Specifically, I am not happy with the fonts and I use my machine mainly to embroider quilt labels. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you so much for all your tutorials!

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 4 lety

      That's a great questions! I'm sure many new machine embroiderers wonder the same. Embrilliance is a third party software that works independently outside of your embroidery machine's software. Embrilliance is downloaded to your computer and you make all design editing in your computer and then save it to your machine's embroidery file format on a USB stick (or send it wirelessly on the Brother Luminaire or BabyLock Solaris). When you import the design made in Embrilliance from the USB into your machine, your machine sees it as "one of its own" and will allow you to view, move, or perhaps even continue to edit if your machine's software is advanced enough. It will not override or interfere with your machine's software in any way. Hope this helps! Here's a video I made and have now added to my blog page for others with questions like yours. Thanks!czcams.com/video/mplU0N2NeH4/video.html

    I have a question. In my software, Stitch and Sew, I can choose a color change, or block, and edit it. But if I delete it, the whole block goes, UNLESS it was digitized in my software. In embrilliance, can you edit or delete just PARTS of the color change or block, no matter whether it is a .dst, or a pes? I hope this makes sense. I would buy embrilliance if this is true. It appears to be after watching your lessons. Thanks, Becky. Example: I stitched up a tree with butterflies, and some of the butterflies were flying out on the right side. I wanted to eliminate those on the right side, but I couldn't because then that whole color block of butterflies would delete.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  Před 2 lety

      Yes! You absolutely can delete just parts of a design IF the software shows each individual part. Some designs are digitized as all-in-one and if that's the case, you can't do any editing in the basic version of Essentials, you'd need Stitch Artist 1 at least. But for customizing designs like DBJJ's Birth Announcement, you certainly can move things around and edit in Essentials just a part of the design. It's a wonderful feature. If you're so inclined, would you use my affiliate link to purchase? Thank you! Helps the channel. :) bit.ly/3KSNSMi

      You can edit individual stitches with Embrilliance Enthusiast so you could get rid of a couple of butterflies, yes. I use Enthusiast for that very feature all the time. With Essentials, you can delete all the blue butterflies that are sewn as one object and leave the red ones (if that makes sense).

      That's a setting in Embird where it is ON to use Embrid as the default app to open embroidery files. There is a way to turn it off in Settings in Embird. I'm not savvy with that app but here's what I found.

    P.S. I retired last year. Let me know if you want to sew something together virtually lol. I do need help structuring my day. I am somewhat ADHD with sewing/quilting/embroidering

    you obviously know what you are doing.. but EVERYTHING will print nicely on a $20,000 embroidery machine!! let's see you pull this off with a $800 Janome.... then, we'll talk!

      You're funny! LOL Actually, the quality of the digitizing has more to do with the quality of the final project than the machine it's sewn on. My first machine was a $500 Brother PE 770 and it did great work with a properly digitized file. DBJJ files are some of the best! Thanks for watching.😃

      @@PowerToolsWithThread Perhaps.. I've used pro level files on my Janome 9500 and it is a pain to work with that machine. Constant thread breaks and other issues turned me off to the whole idea.
