  • Do you dream of living a life of travel and adventure?
    We know what it’s like to be stuck in the 9-5 life, or as we knew it, the 7p-7a life. We know what it’s like to watch other people chase their dreams and feel like it could never happen for us. Our story is a little different than a lot of full-time RVers. We don’t have multiple streams of income. We don’t have remote jobs. We aren’t influencers. We aren’t retirement age with amazing pensions. We’re just an everyday, middle-class couple who dreamed of living tiny and traveling full-time “someday.”
    We’ve watched countless CZcams videos from all the great full-time RVers, and we’ve even allowed ourselves to feel discouraged instead of inspired when watching those videos. We were a one-income family when Matt, a police officer, began experiencing health issues that were significantly impacting his ability to perform his job safely. We had to make some quick decisions if we were going to lose his income. We had an RV that we joked about a year prior saying we loved it so much we could live in it. That would give us a roof over our heads, so now we just needed to figure out a way to replace his income.
    We discovered a way to not only replace the income but also eliminate other expenses so we could live on the road full-time, something we thought could only ever happen “someday.” It may be something you’ve heard of before, or if you’re like us, you may have heard of it but never realized the potential.
    We are going to show you how you can make money AND live at amazing places all over the United States, places so many people only dream of!
    So what is this called? WORK CAMPING!

    You guys are a inspiration to my wife and I! We’re kinda in the same situation as you, old enough to have “had enough” but too young to retire so we would need an income to support or wandering urge. Thanks again!

      @@whynotwander most likely. I retire next year and we want to go full time, but I think I will still need some income. I've been researching it a lot. I'll be 55 and my military pension and 401k won't start until I'm 59.

    Can you elaborate more on spring training jobs? Are there rv spots available, where do you find these jobs?

    Very informative video. My husband and I are looking to start RV life in Oct. Are there many opportunities for work camping in the fall/winter?

    • @whynotwander
      @whynotwander  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks so much for watching and for your kind words, Tiffany! It is exciting to hear that you guys are planning to start RV life soon! There are definitely opportunities for work camping in the fall and winter, although the arrangements may be a little different than summer work due to only a few states hiring for the winter months. What we typically see for winter opportunities are working just to cover your site, OR you might find a few that have you work say 25-30 hours each week for your site and then pay you for the remaining 5-10 hours a week. We highly recommend applying for fall/winter opportunities NOW. We already have ourselves booked for workamping through April 30, 2023, and we're getting ready to apply for places for the summer of 2023! It pays to be ahead of the game with workamping! We have found all of our jobs at Workamper News (www.workamper.com), and if you'd like to join, if you give them our member #269907, we would really appreciate it! :) You can also check out www.workatkoa.com. We have friends who worked with KOA this past winter! Let us know if you have any other questions. :) -Matt & Laurie

      I did think of one more thing for the fall/winter! Depending on what your income and location needs are when you first start out, there are great opportunities available working pumpkin patches in the fall and then possibly staying on for Christmas trees or just doing one or the other! I know there are high-paying opportunities in California for both, and there's usually at least one or two listings to work Christmas tree lots in southern Florida. That would at least get you to warmer locations with great pay in a short period of time, and you could use that as a launching point for the rest of your winter plans! They are listing those opportunities already, and I know they get snatched up pretty quick with the great pay! Hope that helps! :) -Laurie

      Thank you so much! We are excited and scared. Just burnt out on Corp America but still need an income. Both 50 so not near retirement. We live in La Jolla CA so staying here for the winter would be nice. I'll research pumpkin and Christmas tree farms. And will also look at the hiring site you mentioned. Really appreciate it.

    Hi Laurie what did you do when Matt was driving truck at sugarbeet harvest?

    • @whynotwander
      @whynotwander  Před rokem

      Hello! I have a business where I create handmade clay earrings, and since we were in Minnesota for the fall, it worked perfectly for me to prepare all of my inventory for the holidays! I worked 12+ hour days on earrings and also made sure I kept groceries stocked and made him 3 meals a day that he could take with him to heat up! Thanks so much for asking! :) -Laurie & Matt

      As far as domicile and mail service, we chose to go with www.escapees.com and have been incredibly pleased with this choice! If you click on their "Mail Service" tab, you can find all the information there! We will be doing a video on this very soon! We have friends who went with America's Mailbox and have also been happy with their decision. Thanks so much for your question and for watching! -Laurie & Matt

    does a lot of these jobs require couples?

    • @whynotwander
      @whynotwander  Před rokem +1

      Hi, Calvin! There are a lot of jobs available for solo workampers! Usually you'll see on the job posting if they prefer couples or are okay with singles, but we would encourage you to apply for any position that interests you and have a conversation with them about it! Thanks so much for watching, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any additional questions! -Laurie & Matt
