To be fair she Did mention rescuing ponies, and they need about half an acre or more each, so in this case, maybe they did get it right. But most of them have no idea. I have seen it here inSpain so many times. They want Olive groves nd orange trees and they have no idea how much work that is! I knew someone who bought half a mountain with her house! She cannot do anything with it, she is not even allowed to let shepherds graze their goats any ,more, but because of the fire risk she has to maintain it. Costs her a fortune! For nothing! Hahaha!

I grew up under the threat of nuclear war. We did drills at school. My grandparents had a fallout shelter built into their basement, with walls of concrete several feet thick. That's where my grandmother stored her jars of jellies and canned vegetables, and a deep freezer for the food she put up out of their garden every year, enough to eat until the following harvest. We never needed it as a fallout shelter, but we were ready just in case.

The mystery house obviously meant a lot to the husband. In the very beginning, he teared up talking about a house he had wanted, but it was taken off the market. He reminded me of someone who had experienced some great difficulty, perhaps PTSD. The wife's only expressed opinion was to dislike the beams and likes to move furniture around often. If the land and the lake makes the husband happy, then buy that property!!

One very good thing about the second property is the possibility of ground-floor living, such that this couple could conceivably "age in place" or grow old in that house, not having to worry about navigating stairs every single day. Sure, house two didn't have a pond and lots of land, and it was at the high end of the budget, but it's going to remain accessible for them, physically, pretty much forever.

With the beautiful sanctuary, it was a delight to see Scottish Highlander cattle along with Belted Galway. The hons of the Scottish Highlander remind me of the Texas Long horn which seem to be a larger version. The Scottish cattle ate much more gentle than our Texas cattle. If I ever retire, I would like a pair of crossed Scottish Lighlander and Belted Galway - the cross keeps all but the horns.

I quite understand; I don't like small, claustrophobic rooms with tiny windows. Sometimes, it isn't JUST the beams, but what that style is and brings with it. A house with large windows FEELS much larger than 'keyhole windows'.

loved House 2. Would be ideal for me since i can't walk on stairs. I would fill in the pool as fast as possible though. Allergic to chlorine and they are ugly. A nice courtyard would be more up my ally.
Oh man! Simon loved that Mystery house and lake so much. There was everything Ann wanted too. Why could she not let him have his freaking lake if it made him that happy? Did not look like it was his decision to make at all.

Feels like folks are reacting more to tears and emotion than sensibility and realities, and jumping to pretty awful conclusions and assumptions about the wife and their relationship. Remember, we're getting limited access to their lives, everyone has "deal-breaker" criteria that the show is going to try to get around with the mystery house, and everything is edited down from snap judgements. The vast majority of the folks on this show don't end up getting any of the homes shown- it's ultimately a tourism show for the countryside. To me she just seemed uncomfortable in front of the camera, and that their dynamic was simply an "emotional one and sensible one" trope. Husbands get labelled sensible & practical, but when roles are reversed, wives get labelled domineering and controlling.
They're looking for a forever home and lifestyle. House 2 had the best of both worlds- land for birds and ponies, open spaces in the home, minimal maintenance since it's only 10 years old at the time of filming, and ground-floor living for them, their furbaby, and elderly family. Swimming or water aerobics is a wonderful way to stay fit as you get older. The courtyard pool could be converted to a lovely pond & garden if desired. If they ever did want to sell down the line, house 2 would get snapped up in a heartbeat.
House 3 would be quite difficult for anyone with current or future mobility issues, between the chopped-up rooms, stooping through doors, and multi-level living. Can y'all imagine trying to get around in there with a walker or cane? It would be really difficult for more than 2 people to occupy some of the indoor spaces comfortably, without doing some work (like removing the dividing beams, and peninsula in the kitchen) which, if I understand correctly, is really difficult and expensive to do in a Listed property. The upkeep for a home that old, along with basically a park, would be daunting for just about anyone. The land was undeniably lovely, but that type of property truly is a lifetime commitment. It would be an ideal space for someone who wanted to use the land for a cottage/tiny house/glamping holiday let.

The trouble with this particular presenter is that he thinks that his opinion is important. It is not. His job is to listen to the couple and probe for what they want and need. Clouding things only places him as a salesman, not the person you want to help you .

Drakelow tunnels, miles from Malvern and last used as a cannabis factory! Hahah. No mention of Bromyard Downs or the Gala and Folk Festival.
They seemed to me like they didn't really know what they wanted. Especially her. Some of the people on these shows have no intention of buying, they just want a freebie on the Beebie! I know because my workmate was going to do it, they were going to take them to Portugal or somewhere, but she wasn't allowed time off work Haha! They had no intention of buying in Portugal, knew nothing about the place! The people who Should have been going had had to pull out, so they had this posh Joanna Lumley type on video, get them in! I was offered a "No Going Back" by one estate agent, because they were looking for someone with kids who was buying a cave house. I didn't have kids, I did have a geriatric father! "Even better!" he said! "They are getting pretty desperate and that is an angle they haven't considered" Most are fake. I have been told that the Yanks have to agree to take a property on their rental versions. Which explains why the poor sods usually end up with something they did not want!
