Vera then casually mentions to her aunt how Mr. Nuttel is extremely scared of dogs ever since he was hunted into a cemetery by a pack of them. The story ends with Vera's mischievous grin, revealing that she made up the entire tale about the hunting accident and the returning men to play a prank on Framton.
