Right after my wife and I got married, we stayed with my parents for about 6 months while we saved up a good down payment on our current home. This was 8 years ago. Being able to save that money made all the difference in the world! We were very fortunate to have them help us out and let us stay, rent free. Of course I helped do a lot of things, but luckily my parents are very self sufficient. Now they take care of our two boys, and provide daycare while we’re at work. Great parents like you DC and mama corn star are a Godsend. No money could ever repay and the experience that the kids get is unforgettable.

I agree with that 100%. My two kids both moved out twice during their 20's. They are 50 and 48 now, both married, one has 2 boys, 17 and 25. My door is open to any one of them, or all of them, anytime they may need it, for whatever reason. My family are my heart. I would do anything i could for them.

Before the big hurricane that hit in the fall of 2022 our son and his two daughters moved in with us. They had been living in a camper at a campground while he was building their new house. That was September 20th or so. There was so much damage from the storm that they could nit go back to the campground and ended up staying with us until December 22nd. We had just completed an addition to our house the week before Hurricane Fiona hit. This was for my mother in law. In total with my wife four of our children two grandchildren and my mother in law we had ten people living here with no power for a week and walls and parts of roofs blown of of some of the barns. However it was great being all together and having lots of time with our granddaughters aged three and six. The youngest loves watching tractor videos with me. Keep up the good work.

Great advice… I often wonder how grandparents manage when their children and grandchildren live far away. I told my daughter longtime ago, “where you move to, I will move close by”. We both depend on each other and Ive been her only childcare provider. Childcare’s so expensive and I’m happy me and grandpa have helped in that and many other ways.

4 years ago, my daughter and son in law and 10 month old granddaughter lived with us for 4 months while they built a house. Everything went well and it was fun having the granddaughter here for her 1st bday. They moved out on a Saturday and my dad moved in on Monday because of cvd lock downs. He lived with us for 9 months till he passed away. 1.5 years ago, my other daughter and son in law moved in with their 2 kids. They are still here and we enjoy seeing the grand babies every day (3 & 1.5 yo).

Yes we had a son and his family. We set a time limit of six months. We made them there own space upstairs. We had kitchen rules and made only spaces in fridge and cupboards. By doing that from day one we all had a great time and it went quickly. Lots of good memories and became close with the grandbaby. I'll always be grateful we had that time.❤️

Right at the beginning of C in March of 2020, my son and his wife and 2 kids moved in with us from out of state. It was wonderful. They could have the entire upstairs with approx 1800 sqft, and I was able to get to know my daughter in law better. It was so nice for all of us. Also, my daughter was home from college and we played a lot of games, gardened a lot, laughed a lot. It was so positive.

My parents made it too comfortable for me when I moved back in, and I stayed way longer than I should have. I was a good kid though. Helped out with yard work, garbage, bought fast food Fridays, paid for medications.... They wouldn't let me give them rent so I had to pay for other things to not feel like such a mooch.

My daughter, son-in-law and the grandchildren moved in for a couple of months a while back, but it was not a good time. My wife was dying and they were a huge help as the brain tumors took over my wife's life. She enjoyed the children while she could, but as things became too close they spent time with the TV and homework. Feeding, keeping up with the treatments and caring were pretty full time tasks for a while. Happily the end was not traumatic life just drifted away, at home as my wife and the family had wished. I trust your visit will be a good one.

It's not that bad to have your kids move back in. I lost my Father June 6 and it happen to us as well, we became even closer, not that we had a bad relationship that man was my Hero. However when I was around I was able to help him mow grass and help out alot more. You guess work together all the time on the farm so maybe it will be different to you, I don't know. But it was great and dad and I would sneak off and go see concerts, and plane vacation and sled riding trips for the grandkids. It was excellent. Started to attend church again weekly with dad plus Bible studies. The experience was pricless and just thinking about it brings me to tears and even more so that he passed June 6, it's been rough. Like I said that man was my Hero and well it seems hard to move on without him. I still find my self trying to make him proud as strange as that sounds.

We have four children and we have had each of our children and grandchildren and two out of three great grandchildren live with us at one time or the other. Yes it’s hard, yes you don’t have your time like before. I wouldn’t have it any other way. We are so close to our family and they are so close to us.
They keep you moving that’s for sure. Good luck.

My kids and I moved into my parents house, my husband was stationed in the Army and was about to get out. The kids and I were along 1000s miles from family. My husband joined us 3 months later when he was discharged. We was beginning a new life. We had a house being built and had to wait 9 months for it to be done. It was good to be with family. My kids were young. Age 9 and 3. We have now been in our house for 17 years. My parents are 30 minute drive from our house. It was a blessing that we could live with my parents while we waited to move into our new home. Thankfully they had plenty of room.

I’m 33, disabled with a few amputations. I bought my own house 8 years ago. After 6 years I couldn’t afford it anymore. Living on disability and working as much as I’m allowed too still doesn’t cover all the bills. This life is not made for single people. Thank god for my parents. Since I’m back with them, they will never see a nursing home ever! I’ll take care of them ❤

My daughter moved out for about 3 months, moved back in going to have a baby in about 9 months. 3 weeks later her new boyfriend moved in too. (They're now married) Bavy came, and the family still lives with us. I get to see my little man every day! (9 years)

@beckyumphrey2626 Yes. 9 years. My daughter is trying to get disability for a multitude of medical issues, and my son-in-law has had a difficult time finding employment in my area that can support them. And then the cost of rent......

Personal opinion, take every moment you can get with the grand kids and your son. It might be a bit of a challenge but WELL worth the sacrifice to me. Seeing things through their eyes is amazing. Find a balance but by all means do it! Steve…

They are so fortunate to have grandparents to help with the babies. It would be overwhelming for them with all they are trying to do.

Fantastic! Its a win-win situation! Being able to help your kids. While the positive construction-remodel job is being done. And being able to enjoy your family. Grand kids all the same time is priceless. Babies grow-up way to fast. Enjoy! Memories made. Know its been a while since you've experienced a house full. But, its all positive! May our Heavenly Father bless you-all. ❤🎉❤

I raised 2 of my grandkids from 2 and 6 years old. 1 is in her 3rd year of college and my boy graduated last summer. He is still deciding what he wants to do. He works so all is good. Their mom is here part time. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Well this is how I see it I have experienced that very thing got them all out of the house and then one of them come back and I had more than I had before I got him out of the house however it was a learning experience and it was a bonding experience and I'm not going to say everything went smooth smooth and I think cole could not raise those babies in the drafty house that was not functional so he had to get in high gear so that means with the family right now it is all hands on deck and I think it is lovely watching you guys
