Age of son = x
So that father's age = 3x
After 12 years
Son = x + 12 years
Father = 3x +12 years
So...
X + 12 = (3x +12)/2
If solve.... X = 12 years
2nd example
Son = x years
Father = 3x years
After 5 years
Son will be x + 5 years
&
Father will be 3x + 5 years
So...
3x+5 = (5/2)*(x+5)
Solve.... Thn x=15
So that father = 3x = 3(15) = 45 years
3rd example
Let x be the age
So before 6 years age be : x - 6
Now...
X = (5/4)*(x - 6)
Solve...
Thn x = 30
While... Age of son = (x/10)
So... S = 3 years

I have a query. In th first question u have calculated x by deducting it from 5. Means calculating the age 5 years ago. Then why u didnot add 5 in the final answer which will make the answer 15.
