I know exactly what you are talking about, it is not only in South Africa where there's corruption when it comes to employment. Even here in eSwatini, I remember someone once said "we know when you work for eswatini government, you have a relative there" which is a sad reality. I also have been unemployed with my certificates for the longest time, times were really hard. I had to look for a skill, I am baking now my business is doing so well to the point that I was even nominated for baker of the year awards. I am not even applying anymore.

besides an ailing economy, something that we are never prepared for is the toxicity of the corporate world (more often than not) pls just don't make your job your only source of income. you need to have something that can cushion you while looking for a better working environment should you decide to quit. it's a constant struggle for validation in the corporate world

True Owami! I am learning two new skills! two new side hustles to substitute my income. There's an influx of cockroaches in our neighbourhood and the fumigating guys are hella expensive! I mix my own cockroach terminator spray and I sell at least one bottle a day. Plus I bought a poly gel nail kit and I'm I'm practising on people for a fee. I'm fully booked for this weekend. I honestly won't feel the financial strain this week before payday. It's really helped me a lot.

I 💯 agree, this is not only for unemployed youths, I'm a full blown adult working comfortably so but you never know what the future holds, i just hate the idea of putting my livelihood in the hands of an employer, that can change at any time, hence I know how to make clothes, i was never without money while I was in university, I made my own clothes and girls were falling over placing orders! I can braid hair, my teen daughter is also braiding her own hair now coz she sees me do it all the time, I'm so proud of her, I'm also here on CZcams creating content and I'm honestly so excited about it, the skills I've learned as well from creating CZcams videos are insane!! It's such a good feeling knowing that even if I were to lose my job, I have other ways of making money,,

True, sometimes you obtain a degree but it doesn’t mean you would be good at the job because of your personality and the soft skills companies require, therefore you might be unemployed forever because other people are more confident, ambitious, articulate and all those. Better to learn a new skill.

If not mistaken there's even a law that says South Africans first before hiring a foreign national. So if you don't have the skill, don't say they taking our jobs.
This cleary shows how important a skill is. 👊🏾
Majority of our unemployed youth have qualifications but their profiles don't mention even one thing they can offer or do😢, some don't even know what LinkedIn is because they havent even created their profiles in there to show interest. I hope this mentality of I'm a graduate without action will stop.

I’m a living testament of what Owami is talking about. I’m a Marketing graduate, struggled to get a job in Marketing BUT MY SKILL CAME THROUGH FOR ME . I’m now a MAKEUP ARTIST ABROAD. Also as South Americans we must NOT EVER think that unemployment is and corruption is a SA thing many countries have the same problem it’s just that they don’t publish their stats and bad things about their countries. ALSO THE THEORY EDUCATION SHOULD END MAN ,SCHOOLS NEED TO START TEACHING SKILLS AND BUSINESS. Government also can’t provide jobs to everyone evn if they try .

Yoh Owami im writing this in tears my sister has a degree in teaching we all rely on her for financial support, she can't get a job its been 3 years now. The department of education is now "allegedly" selling job.. People from other provinces are coming from where ever they are now working at the school we grew up attending, now we not even given a chamce to teach there because of bribery.. My heart is shuttered after hearing that the post she applied for was given to a person from Mpumalanga yet we in Gauteng..

Hair braider in the UK here. It genuinely put me through my higher education. I had trouble getting government grants to survive. I used the money to buy stuff to live and for my courses.
I had started doing hair young, and my clients grew up with me and started making more money and could pay me more.
Now I can get hundreds of pounds per head if I wanted to but I don't charge that high usually. Those who can afford ill take the money but otherwise my prices are manageable. I've travelled abroad and I've picked up clients whilst abroad who wanted their hair done without me even trying to advertise myself. The areas I lived in there weren't many black people so I was the only one that could do the hair. But yeah I still find it insane how hair made me so much money over the years. Eventually I became faster and was able to pay myself as if I was a doctor 😂
I'm definitely going to reopen my business

Secondly, He can see that he’s nothing without you, so he wants to destroy you as much as he’s self destructed. Finally, he can see that despite everything that him and his narcissistic family put you through, you’re still strong and flourishing. So his actions are out of rage that you’re not deteriorating like how he expected you would, since that’s what he’s going through personally as well.
