I actually got the quote wrong. Caboose asks "is she a regular girl or a mean girl" and Church taught him "there are no regular girls." Or something like that. The point is that all girls are mean. Which is an accurate assessment of the effect of modern culture on the female psyche.
They were probably always mean but we used to be able to slap them to keep them in line :P

Arturo Garza I could totally see how Turney could be one of the mean girls.
I often won those 'guess how many in the jar' things in school - but you have to be careful as to be sure that it's solely filled with what you're asked to count, and not containing something you can't see, which would throw the layer approximation off

I actually won simply using my favourite number 147. It was how many dries peas in a jar and the swat kid (swat was a term used in the UK to refered to nerds) did what Mariel did in the video! No I don't remember what number the swat kid wrote down cos it was a teacher going round to different classes about the game and any kid that eneter wrote their number down!
The prizes was a box of celebration (sweet) and the real numbers was 152!

Thing is, unless you go in higher fields, you'll use less than 9% of the regular course Math you learn in school (as far as i, an European am concerned). Go in architecture, engineering, well, that's another cow chow.
Dude, I flunked math and said "Eh whatever, I'm not gonna go into a job where you need a ton of math and I will literally never be in a situation where math will save my life." Two months later I got type one diabetes (like right after my sweet sixteen) and now I need to use math everyday to calculate how many carbs I'm eating, how much insulin I need to take for my meal and how much is correction dose for my high blood sugar. I literally need to use math to save my life, the full irony of this situation is not lost on me.

Watching this 4 years ago I was like "wow this is kinda silly" watching this today just a week after my wife and I's baby shower I totally get it
Wasn't there another part of this story from this episode where Mariel and Lindsay's mom totally went at each other cause of Merial's uber competitiveness? I'm sad that they didn't animate that part.

I relate to Mariel! In fifth grade we had to guess the number of Hershey's Kisses in a square-ish container to win that container of Kisses and a gift card. I was the only kid in the class smart enough to know to calculate the volume. Eleven year old me felt very accomplished.

Oh my God. My sister got me once at our Aunt's baby shower. She used an old SNL quote that became our favorite quote. She came up to me and said "Oh my god..." and I immediately said "A baby!!!!!!!". Needless to say I didn't win that game lol.

In one video, Mariel when from being an enigma to one of my favorite people on this planet.
i did the calculations for a jelly bean thing at summer camp once and i still think they screwed me over. What happened was I did the calculations and then when we were going to find out who won, they announced it was one of the adults who won and so they gave out some jelly beans to each kid. I asked how many there were and i was off by like 5 or 10 or something, so i think they never planned to give the jelly beans to a single person and instead decided ahead of time that they were going to hand it out to everyone

when i was in elementary school there was a jar in the front grilled with over a thousand starburst (prob a lot more it was like a foot tall and almost as wide) and i used the same exact method she did by counting the bottom layer and counting up and i was off by about 40 and i won. starburst lasted me like a year

I did something similar at my sister in law's baby shower. Except of mathing, I just counted all the Hershey Kisses that I could see, and added like fifty (for the ones in the center that I couldn't see). I wasn't too far off, and I had kisses for months.
15 years of Rooster Teeth, and somebody in Rooster Teeth Productions dabed... as Gamma would say, "The end is near, the Great Destroyer has arrived..."

I have won every one of those "guess how many X is in Y" games.. by doing exactly what she did.. calculate a quick avg densisty of X in a single layer.. then see how many layers fit in Y.... if container is odd shaped, +/- approx amounts... or find a layer that represents the avg cross section of container Y...
Out of the last 5 of these games i have played.. my highest error was 6 xD
