      @lacojanco7571 Před 4 měsíci +1

      I just used what I found ar home, rubber elastomer block from my kids toy chest and some old spring. Spring is maybe 50% harder to press than original, elastomer is like 80% more. I made wooden backstop screwed to pedal base. It makes a big difference. I have to press the brake hard to have 100% braking, if I press less it lightly im on 50%. I have never tried another pedals to compare it with , but compared to original it makes quite signifficant improvement. Now Im waiting for two bass shakers that should arrive next week.

    I have just bought this setup.
    This is going to replace the 2 wheels that I currently have (G27 and DFGT).
    I will be looking into the LC100 down the line and a H pattern shifter.
    Knowing the CP5 pedals have the same resitance is actually a bonus for me as I use a wheel for Elite Dangerous (the pedals control forward and reverse thrust).
    Really looking forward to getting this.
    Big plus for the price point too.

      Very happy to hear this mate, you should enjoy it. I would advise upgrading those pedals though ASAP. You get almost zero feedback and the braking and accelerating feedback is pure guess work. Enjoy your purchase mate and let me know how you get on 💪🏻

    Nice high quality review mate. The wheel rim being a tad bit bigger in diameter would probably make those shifter paddals feel more natural to the reach for my picky mitts personally as I grip this before, but $250 buckaroonies its a great situational wheel for sure ! thx for the great review

    Have been using this & the pedals for a couple of weeks, and as my first wheel/pedal setup ever, I'm loving it...mostly. Some issues;
    -I've been having a constant problem where the wheel will just crash/freeze randomly, losing the FFB/all inputs and requiring it to be turned off and on again. This has been extremely irritating, especially during long AC races which then requires also restarting the game to use the wheel again (losing all race progress in the process). All I've been able to find online is a reddit post of someone else having the exact same issue from 4 months ago, with no resolution.
    -Definitely upgrading the pedals asap, as I've been finding it extremely difficult to be consistent under braking - I had a lot more confidence & consistency with just the trigger of an Xbox One controller. Going to go with something load-cell based.
    -The tiny paddle shifters can be quite finicky and I have had some minor issues with input not registering, though it's very rare and I think mostly just based on finding them awkward in certain situations than any kind of electrical/software based issue. I have ordered some larger caps for them from an Etsy seller though, which I do believe should help.
    -As someone who personally purchased the product, I can say there's a rather large caveat to the 'value' proposition. Having my order shipped from Cammus' "UK-Based Warehouse" to another UK address cost me over £50, which is A LOT and almost turned me off completely. If it weren't for the fact I got it during the xmas sale, the price would've ended up being barely any less than Fanatec's entry-level Ready2Race bundles.
    Other than that though, I've been loving the performance of the wheel itself - while it works.

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před 4 měsíci +1

      This is a wonderfully detailed response, thank you for posting this. Interesting to hear back from someone who more than likely has more wheel time than myself on it.
      • I thankfully have not had any wheel disconnect issues. Have you attempted to contact Cammus? I would be interested to hear what their support is like after sale.
      • I agree with the pedals. You need to change ASAP. Going from my regulars I was crashing into the wall consistently and had no feedback. They need to work on these to make them enjoyable.
      • I would be very interested to hear what your experience is like with the paddle shifter modifications.
      • This is less than ideal with the shipping. Very similar to Fanatec when you order from them. Was everything sent out as one or did it come in separate packages?
      What pedals will you be looking at to replace the CP5's?

  • @JoeGaffey
    @JoeGaffey Před 4 měsíci +2

    I don't think the shifters could be much bigger without being in the way due to the size of the wheel centrepiece.
    I think it's generally a fair tradeoff for different driving disciplines - drifting, rally etc.
    Would be nice if they were metal with different plate options though.

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Respectfully disagree. Extending them superiority, inferiorly and a little bit laterally would in my opinion improve the form factor significantly. The extensions sold on ETSY do this although admittedly I have not had the chance to try them yet.
      Still, for the price. I think it's a pretty good offering.

    • @JoeGaffey
      @JoeGaffey Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@TraumaTeamRacing just my own experience from drifting and rallying in VR.
      I find them ok for formula and GT if not great.
      Like I said replaceable metal plates would be better but likely push up the overall cost.

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před 4 měsíci

      You've probably got more hours on this than me buddy. Personally, I would never use paddle for rally and I can't drift 😅 If you haven't yet, definitely look at picking up a sequential 💪🏻 There are some great entry level offerings out there.

    • @JoeGaffey
      @JoeGaffey Před 4 měsíci +1

      I'm actually on the lookout for a sequential or maybe a DIY job.
      What I meant though was that the paddles can get in the way for drifting and rally even if you aren't using them.
      I use h pattern for these disciplines not paddles.

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Apologies, I misunderstood. I use a Fanatec shifter that switches quite nicely between H-pattern and sequential which might be worth looking at.

  • @GUN69_
    @GUN69_ Před 4 měsíci +1

    I feel like this wheel could be a king of the niche in the niche - meaning, sim racing traveler. If you travel a lot for your job and you still want to take your wheel with you to easily clamp it in the hotel room or a cabin on the ship you are stuck in - perfect. Compact size of the wheel could allow to put it to a big backpack or a luggage. However, the pedals feel like rushed product. They should follow the "compactness" of the wheel (potentially something which would allow easy dismantling them while in the transport). Break pedal seems like the weakest point of it. For the stationary home use it feels that Moza or Fanatec DDs might be a better choice

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před 4 měsíci

      I tell you what, this did cross my mind! If I ever needed to go anywhere and I needed to race I could through this in a luggage bag really easily!
      I agree with you on the pedals. The brake pedal is simply unenjoyable. No feedback and impossible to replicate braking points on repeated laps.
      At present it is difficult to recommend the bundle with such a weak pedal set, I agree 👍🏻

  • @JoeLocastro
    @JoeLocastro Před 4 měsíci

    Question: Are the accelerator and brake pedal springs wound the *EXACT* same number of times? I've seen footage showing the brake pedal with one extra twist, but a lot of voices tend to say they're "Exactly the same level of resistance" which seems impossible with one spring being tighter.

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Response: It seems to be sporadic. On my set the accelerator has one more turn. In actuality this makes no difference what so ever and I would imagine a larger gauge spring would be needed rather than just increasing the number of turns. The experience is the same on both pedals in my opinion.

      @@TraumaTeamRacing I am going to try mounting the brake pedal pad slightly lower in hopes that less leverage will provide a slightly different ankle feel than a higher mounted pad on the accelerator. Basically just trying to eek every ounce of uniqueness I can out of these bad boys.

    • @TraumaTeamRacing
      @TraumaTeamRacing  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @JoeLocastro I would advise the opposite. I think you would want the biggest moment arm (lever arm) on the ankle joint in order to get the best feeling. Therefore, mounting them high and keeping the control on the forefoot rather than the midfoot. Just my two cents. (Never thought we'd get into joint biomechanics in my CZcams comment section🤣)

      @@TraumaTeamRacing first: the product was defective after just 1 month of use. This in itself is already quite negative. The right and then the left shift paddle broke (this is common on C5 Cammus). After that, a firmware update was done and the steering wheel stopped working and never came back. Cammus sent another one as a guarantee, stating that the shipping costs and customs fees would be their responsibility. I paid the fees and now cammus informs that the amounts are too high for refund. In a warranty process, all expenses (new replacement part, freight, fees and taxes) must be borne by the supplier and not by the customer. For me, it is acceptable for a product to fail, but it is completely unacceptable for the expenses related to the warranty to be the responsibility of the customer.
