Love, love, love hearing vocals cut up. Miss it so much in todays music, the way a dj would cut up vocals and mix it together for a chorus. Hopelessly waiting for it to come full circle and start being implemented back in hip hop. Props to all the djs still doin it.
I think a lot of artists are afraid to sample vocals now. It kinda used to be an unwritten rule that you wouldn't have to clear scratched in samples, but it changed. Still lots of underground artists that do it. And the new Gang Starr has some dope cut choruses of course.

I've heard this sample in a thousand patterns, and combos. I still had to watch this 5 times in a row. Soul, flavor, flow, chi? I can't think of a word for it but its all those things. Funky and fun like a sax solo complimenting a song. (Too many technical notes IMHO makes it too serious and less fun)

Dirtstyle/scratch records such as Backsliding Turkey Kuts are dope and great tools but I find that it's good to know where those sounds come from. It helps paint the picture of DJ culture and history.
