He is only 24 but he is already the best player this sport has ever seen. It's like Messi in football, everyone knew when he was just 24 that we will never see a better player ever. So all the hockey fans, let's enjoy the moment it lasts. In our lifetime there wont be another McDavid.

We are in 2020's, the level of competition, athletism and professionalism is in a whole different universe compared to what it was 20 years ago, or 40 years ago. Still McDavid rises above everyone. He was the best player of that era for sure and ahead of his time, but you have to take into consideration how much the game has changed. More money involved, players are trained to be professionals from the age of 5 basically, nutrition and hi-tech have changed the game, the competion is way harder in every way possible. It shouldnt be possible to dominate anymore these days like McDavid does, he makes other professional athletes look like crap. When Gretzky played the players most likely went to McDonalds and get drunk after every game, there were only handful of players who took it as seriously as the players these days. Last season, which wasnt even full season due to covid, McDavid scored 105 points and if we forget Draisaitl who gets most points because he plays with McDavid, the 2nd best scorer had 69 points. That's just insane. The McDavid domination is far superior to Wayne and Mario considering all the facts.

Same thing for Esposito. Or howe played in easier era. Or Francis or Dionne. Look at all the top point getters and you'll see. What makes Mario and Wayne the best is that they were universes apart from everyone else. Something that McDavid is too, however, he is still young. I feel like the way he's playing and barely got into his prime, he could possibly be the best. We'll have to see when his career is over.
