- So close to a great Mets weekend. Still good but we got high key embarrassed on Friday then won two great games before the strange decision to pull Christian Scott on Monday. We go deep into that call by Mendoza and all the turmoil right now in the Mets bullpen. Also, Brandon Nimmo and Francisco Lindor were snubbed from the All-Star Game and we are way too mad about it.

Or one banger deadline from acquiring big pieces for the future. Win-Win situation
They'd need to at least 3 impact arms and a corner outfielder at the deadline. Currently, they're 23rd in pitching WAR and 21st in ERA. If they can go land a big time starter and a few top notch relievers and just a MLB caliber bat in RF they'll be in good shape.
@@brandondillman5841 They don't have the chips to bring in that talent. Perhaps they land a good reliever, but September is a nightmare. They have three games against the Red Sox, eight against the Phillies, three against the Braves, and three against the Brewers. I don't see a way they finish 500 or better in September, and unless they do that, they won't make the playoffs.
@@fr2ncm9 they're playing some really bad teams too though. 28 games against the Rockies, White Sox. A's, Angels, Marlins and Reds. If they can just find a way to go .500 against the great teams they have a shot.
@@brandondillman5841 Their offense is good, but I don't trust their starters, Severino has been very unreliable lately. Scott usually goes only 5 innings, Quintana is ok right now. There are simply too many question marks.

We can put Tylor Megill in the bullpen. I like the idea of having 3 failed starters in the bullpen. Freakazoid.

The illogic of using the bullpen as an automatic event in the 6th, 7th or 8th is beyond measure. As the game gets into late innings managers shore up the defense. And yet, the most important defensive position i.e. the pitcher, often gets downgraded. To pull a pitcher who is throwing a gem FOR NO REASON other than pitch count and "saving" him; a Chinese proverb posits, "if you regret yesterday and fear tomorrow, you are spitting on today!". Which is the most important game a team will ever play? Answer: THE GAME THEY ARE CURRENTLY PLAYING! The illogic of pulling starters and replacing them with journeymen (at best) or minor leaguers (at worst) drives me crazy and has ruined Baseball!

Senga had a serious shoulder problem. The last thing you want is to rush him back and have him get a torn labrum. That's a much harder injury to bounce back from.
The only way to really fix this bullpen is using minor league STARTERS. Sproat or another elite prospect.
