i have been listening to her since the 90s and still am. this is such am amazing album and it was out at a great and sad time of my life. her music is always there when i need it.
@@TheWaynos73 Singles are a silly thing. Since i was a teenager, i never gave a damn about Singles, -Charts, Top 20, Top 10, Top 100 whatever! Who cares, which crap is on #1? And who is listening to mainstream? Only lemmings do. Swarm Intelligence.
After reconnecting w Sarah since my teen years, I just purchased two of her sheet music books for piano off of Etsy! I'm so glad something made me decide to look her up almost 20 years after last listening.
I fell a little in love with Sarah the first time I saw her sing live, in a small Nashville venue called 328 Performance Hall (now long gone). In a small hall set with about 120 folding chairs, I was fourth row on the center aisle and it felt like she made eye contact and sang to me all night. I saw her and her band 3-4 more times over the next 7 or 8 years and it ALWAYS felt the same way. The intimacy, the vocal nuance, the way she moved to the music and responded to the energy the audience … She was an amazing and electric live performer and NO ONE has been able to shift so effortlessly between her own rich and compelling natural register into that ethereal falsetto and back again. Just incomparable on every level.
Short hair, floor-length dress, feather boa, bare feet, and that voice. It just doesn't get any better. I was living in Oregon at the time - how did I miss this?
@@TheWaynos73 Flanked by the late David Sinclair's very English sensibilities. You can tell he listened to a lot of CSNY, The Byrds, Rory Gallagher, XTC, Spandau Ballet, The Fixx, The Smiths (he went full on Johnny Marr a bunch of times during that show). Its all in the tone and intonation (it's clean sounding with a dash of Northern attitude). He departed the planet many years ago for the Great Gig in the Sky.
You could turn down the volume and everything about this would still be hauntingly beautiful: her wardrobe, makeup, the lighting, etc. But, oh yeah, turn up the volume and there's an absolutely angelic musical, lyrical, and vocal performance happening too.
i saw Sarah for the first time in concert here in Australia in 2003 for the Afterglow tour - and people went nuts when she started singing this - and she absolutely nailed those high notes
Heard this in Forces of Nature, so many years ago, not knowing it was the amazing voice of Sarah singing. Watched it again and rediscovered this song at the end of it, and saw who's song it was. As there have been so many other of her songs that have moved me to tears, it was quite emotional that i found out, yet again, Sarah had touched my heart all along and did so again in 2021. I write this looking for words to describe what her voice and song inspire inside me. But there are none that will do my emotions justice. I will say just this.. ...this song opens my heart up to a love and passion i had over 20 years ago. The flood gates are open, and i feel it all again. For that, i am grateful. ✨🤍✨
I’ve always loved Sarah because my parents played her in the house all the time but I remember hearing this song in Roswell when I was a kid and loving it. Buffy played a lot of Sarah too. Two great shows.
I feel connection... maybe because we have the same name ... maybe because I feel like i really sing this song and it just rips me alive .... and i fear ... i have nothing to give ... damn this is just so my whole being in this song.
One of amazing Canadian brilliantly musical performer.... Sarah we love you, and thank you for helping me find comfort in my Mothers recent passing on the 10th... Mom n I used to sit and listen to you endlessly
My favorite vocal performance, my task, to enable the conquering of all fears, as fear is irrational, replace it with respect for dangers and preparation for dangerous tasks
Morning smiles Like the face of a newborn child Innocent unknowing Winter's end Promises of a long lost friend Speaks to me of comfort But I fear, I have nothing to give I have so much to lose here in this lonely place Tangled up in our embrace There's nothing I'd like better than to fall But I fear, I have nothing to give Wind in time Rapes the flower trembling on the vine Nothing yields to shelter From above They say temptation will destroy our love The never ending hunger But I fear, I have nothing to give I have so much to lose here in this lonely place Tangled up in our embrace There's nothing I'd like better than to fall But I fear, I have nothing to give I have so much to lose I have nothing to give I have so much to lose
One of the best Songs, performed live 1999 - love the Hammond-esque B3 sound (because my father played bass and e-guitar, and the B3 also in the band), the vibes, her voice...the mood & atmosphere. Sarah kicks ass, still !
Fear, it’s gripping us all in CoViD! It’s February 2022 and I have lots of fear, and I’m giving it away, I’m also giving love because we don’t have enough of it. Love over fear 2022. Living thru CoViD.
1:513:14 and the classic 3:53 to 3:58. Three years prior to a movie series released those seconds remind me of. When the live version MATCHES Studio and SUPERCEDES some aspects. I own at least 9, maybe 10 of Sarah's albums, hard copy. count excluding 2/3 of Lillith Fair . This is her masterpiece track from Mirrorball in my humble opinion. Afterglow being personal fave album of hers. Fear Remix from the blue cover album was pretty intense. When singing along to this song two words are always voluntarily added after the second 'fall' "IN LOVE"
When I I listen to this song, I think of a Metroid remake. Like they create a new trilogy, but in the first game you have a connection with civilization. However at the end of the first game, Samus crash lands on an alien planet. As the cliffhanger surfaces and the end credits start rolling, this song plays.
I've watched Mirrorball on acid many times. I've thought about being on acid in the front row at a Sarah show; but I'd be afraid to, lol. It would be way too out of place. I've fit in just fine being on acid at Phish and Widespread Panic.
Who's listening to this vocal masterpiece in 2024?
Yeah, just got back from the Bowl. She nailed this again.
i have been listening to her since the 90s and still am. this is such am amazing album and it was out at a great and sad time of my life. her music is always there when i need it.
Who’s still finds this song incredible in 2019?
friday nights will probably always find me in her little corner of youtube.
Always and forever! This is real emotion! Love it!
definitely
J W She performed it live in Toronto tonight with a full orchestra backing her
I saw her perform this song last night live in Lewiston at Artpark. She was AMAZING.
I was in the 3rd row for this concert and I will never forget it. Talent like this comes around very seldom and we are lucky to witness it.
Underrated. Better than her big mainstream hits IMO. Beautiful and unforgettable voice.
I always find that Sarah’s best songs are not her singles.

20 years later and I still can't get over how good this performance was. Extra props to Camille Henderson for those vocal harmonies.
All time favorite
Yasss!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sarah s talent is unmatched
Indeed. A great unsung hero(forgive the pun).
After reconnecting w Sarah since my teen years, I just purchased two of her sheet music books for piano off of Etsy! I'm so glad something made me decide to look her up almost 20 years after last listening.
“But I fear.....
I have nothing to give
But have so much to loose”
The humility in her lyrics about approaching love is breath taking.
I’m a 30 year old man who finally understands why Sarah is so great….

I miss 328. That's awesome you got to see her like that.
Heading to 2021 and this voice is still tops. Lyrical genius.
It really is unfair to all of us normal people that she is so amazing lol
Nes M that’s a valid point :)
Short hair, floor-length dress, feather boa, bare feet, and that voice. It just doesn't get any better. I was living in Oregon at the time - how did I miss this?
Good lord. That woman's voice...Wow.
Sarah's band from this era was just phenomenal. Brian Minato's bass playing just blows me away.
Yes!!!
just a phenominal sound, I can still remember listening to the entire album and was blown away
It’s a masterpiece
Sean Ashby’s guitar sounded so angry and chaotic against Sarah’s grace. Perfect.

Despite how crazy life can get, this song always brings me inner peace!:)

12 dislikes?! Really? Something wrong with those ppl. This is one of her best songs. I'd love to see her perform it someday
probably the rape part.

One of the best concerts I have ever seen. 😊
I have always loved her. Such a beautiful soul with the voice of an angel! Her music touches the soul and brings tears to my eyes. Love her..

When I can't release the tears, this does.

Stumbled on this song when i watched Roswell series. Beautiful song

damn this is just so my whole being in this song.
sarah jahoda ever see Sarah live?
Good Lord, I need a cigarette after this.... and I don't even smoke
This song is my anthem. Life has proven my fears as true. No one has ever loved me.
The Lord loves you. You are so so loved. John 3:16
Of course someine loves you, mate. It's YOU! There never "ever" "never", mate. You love you. Who else don't, who cares! YOU LOVE YOU!!!
Your love is inside. give it freely! first to yourself then to others. you are love
i always felt this way and i realized that most of it is me and i will never have anyone understand that. you are not alone.
2 years later and I'm back to say this is still that one. To hear this live is bucket list material.
Still extraordinary...
Pure talent. Respect.
I love this song
Will always be my favourite song I'll be 40 next year and it's 2022 this song will haunt me in a good way until the day it ends

I listen to the album fumbling towards ecstacy all the time. It still sounds so fresh and original.
Me too! It's one of my favorite albums ever!❤
Superb
Chills every time I hear this
Celine Dione can bugger off. This is the voice that raises my hair.
This always makes me cry, because it reminds me of those I miss. Thanks for it.

My favorite version of this song
I don’t know why but I have always skipped this one reaches deep and calls me makes me wanna cry woah
Wonderful !!!
Morning smiles
Like the face of a newborn child
Innocent unknowing
Winter's end
Promises of a long lost friend
Speaks to me of comfort
But I fear, I have nothing to give
I have so much to lose here in this lonely place
Tangled up in our embrace
There's nothing I'd like better than to fall
But I fear, I have nothing to give
Wind in time
Rapes the flower trembling on the vine
Nothing yields to shelter
From above
They say temptation will destroy our love
The never ending hunger
But I fear, I have nothing to give
I have so much to lose here in this lonely place
Tangled up in our embrace
There's nothing I'd like better than to fall
But I fear, I have nothing to give
I have so much to lose
I have nothing to give
I have so much to lose

As a Metroid fan and Sarah McLachlan fan I think this is the greatest idea I’ve heard.
She's proof that Fae exist.
Roswell
Exactly..1st tv show I followed from beginning to end - didn't disappoint, love it to this day 👌
That snare…

She signed her first record contract ON THE SKINNY PUPPY TOUR BUS. Dwayne told me.

Been there done that... it was fun
Why does the drummer gets so much screen time?
If you like Sarah McLachlan check out Heather Nova.

Sorry for the... possession
Girls in 2021 have to use autotune to even get close to how good Sarah Was 20 years ago.
