tekken 8 xdddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
In summary, most fighting games work with you, while Mortal Kombat works against you.
I personally like the fact that you have to be more precise in your combos. It’s more satisfying to pull off combos imo
This is gonna be one of your first videos where I cannot agree, for each argument i have an argument against or a diffrent view/experience, for example no modern controls but the input system for motion inputs is way more forgiving but also loses a lot of technical stuff u can do with it like TKs
I noticed the combo lockout, but accepted it as it is, i didn't thought anything of it, but my friends that are newer whenever i tried to teach them a combo they would always spam a button and got lockout
I also never understood the “MK is easy” criticism. I picked up Sf6 when it came out, played classic controls the whole time and got to Platinum quite easily. I know that’s not a huge deal, but after grinding SF6 I kept thinking, “why do people think this is so much more difficult than MK”? It really isn’t.
Dial-a-Kombos
@TheMockingjay74 Tekken has those too and Tekken players always complain about execution
Well plat is the equivalent to silver from sf5. You don't start seeing players that really know what they're doing until about 1500mr.
@@Serendide this is fair. I got Blanka to Diamond eventually. But in my initial run I was surprised how quickly I was ranking. Also SF6 has way more players so overall competition is tougher, but I think actual game execution is a similar difficulty
@@isaiahjars very true
Love the game. I was not sure at first, but once I took a little time to get to know the basics, I am in love with it. The invasion this season was fun and the titan fights were amazing
More proof that MK1 is more immersive in the gameplay than other fighting games. Mk1 is king.
Been playing MK for 30 years and do MMA, Tekken is way, way more akin to a fight. It blows MK out of the water in this regard.
Actually, a lot of his points are bullshit.
First, the auto combo thing he speaks of in Tekken will not even carry you to "average" level. It is an assist for people that don't play fighting games, or absolute beginners.
A dash cancel is not at all similar to a wave dash.
You can't map all buttons to one button in Tekken. That would do what's called a Ki charge and not an attack. Then he goes on to show a throw string, which is a special move for the character shown, in which you can press any of three inputs, and your opponent has to press the same input to get out of it.
And it's advised that you map button cominations (2+3) to one button because the move lists for Tekken characters are literally 5 times as long as MK.
And the mash cancelling is the opposite of immersive.
@@lesliska yes with it's 1 to 2 button combos. I like Tekken. It has more actual fighting styles. But the combos are on the easier side of gaming.
@@lesliskaIt’s more enjoyable for sure but with nearly 100+ combo strings you can get a lot done with button mashing.
@@lesliska 1. You should mark that you edited you comment.
2. Having 50+ combos attached to how many different ways you can press 3 buttons is NOT as immersive as Mk1 and it's 4-5 button combo with precision window timing.
3. Mk1 has creative combos. You can create your own combos! Tekken combos are just multiple pokes with an ugly falling animation.
@@lesliska 4. Dash cancelling is waaaaaay more immersive than wave dashing. Being able to trick someone by staying in place is always more shocking than moving "forward faster"
5. You can do a good amount of combos mashing 1 button on many characters in Tekken so his point is VERY valid and it WILL carry A LOT of gameplay from low to mid tier gameplay. Mk is not so forgiving.
One of your best videos!!! I will use this to explain to people why MK is not that easy and it actually is harder in some regards!!!
Thanks for making it so straight to the point and you actually mentioned things I didn't know!
I am so glad they don’t give us easy combos like how you’re referring. I don’t want it done for me. It already annoys me that some of smokes moves seem to have multiple moves in one. I want to have to do it myself. Don’t want any “mash right trigger” combos AT ALL. In other words, get good! 🤣 (j/k, but seriously…)
I didn't know about the combo lockout. It makes sense now.
I think a big factor why people think it’s an easy game is because a lot of the pro players usually play keep away and go for the same, sometimes optional, combo string with the same characters like Johnny, Raiden, and so on; we need to see more characters and different combos. I kid you not, one of Reiko’s combo guide trial requires you to connect his B2, a hard knockdown attack, with Jax’s back breaker and follow up with a B3 without disrupting Jax.
The block buffer is to allow the blocking opponent to armor or punish offensive players as a reward for flawless blocking or gaps in attack. Makes total sense since most armors are special moves which are used as a punish and the buffer is not there on offense. Which also requires a release of the block button to do: However, much high risk for a full combo.
It doesn’t have modern controls on but there are simple controls where there is a simple where there are no diagonal inputs at all
The reason I struggle to get into Injustice (as a diehard DC fan) is because there’s no block button lol. Retreating and blocking in that game incentivizes zoning imo. Because of walk back block you get things like injustice 2 deadshot
Not going to lie. I watched this video and did my normal MK1 stream. I legitimately was so much better being aware of the points you made of combos and such so thank you!
I do find it to be more difficult. It’s definitely harder than 11 IMO. I find the combo timing needs to be so disgustingly precise especially for pauses between combo steps. Do you think NR will ever adjust any of the issues you mentioned regarding the buffer and the combo lockout or is this just the way it will be forever?
Honestly the combo lock out I’m fine with because as you said with just mashing one button it’s not fun so with me it’s more of a skill thing just need to learn to take it slow but with like faster combo routes to where your needing to press so many inputs quickly I understand the frustration so I would understand if that needed a little leeway
The character kombo challenges are egregious. You are absolutely correct on the execution timing. I was doing the Kitana kombo 9 challenge that added Shujinko for every character and after the air freeze Shujinko uses from Geras, you have to connect a meter burned fan throw. Even though I watched the kombo connect going from 8 hits to 9 hits, they claimed my timing was incorrect and failed me at the fan throw input. Let's not even talk about Ermac's level 7 challenge.
Been teaching my girl mk1 im not the greatest by any means but seeing how difficult it is for her who’s never played an mk game shes piecing stuff together
I was hoping someone could explain these type of mechanics and point out some of the extra hard moves require precise timing and such! But still somewhat better than one button mapping/tapping
Bro it’s NOT easy. There is so much to memorize. The muscle memory takes weeks of practice. Kameos? Bro… it’s not easy.
Mk also have more zoners than Tekken and SF to the point where its more insane.. And the grab gues tec is much harder than the 2.. Especially Ermacs grab mechanics
Absolutely, NRS has a weird fixation of giving characters some kind of projectile that does a lot of chip damage or keep you safe. Surprisingly Johnny is the only one without a projectile unless you count his glasses but I don’t see any reason why you’d use that.
I absolutely prefer a block button. Sure it might be cool to be able to back up and block but something about the button feels so much better
Yeah I don't like when someone says this is a button mashing game. It's like u don't understand how many hours I spent in practice getting my combo down.
90% of my time on MK is in the practice tool just for my inputs to get eaten in KL lol
I actually quite like "combo lockout" as you called it. It prevents mashing and encourages precision inputs. I came from For Honor where mechanical skill and execution is practically not existent outside of ganking (2v1) and teamfights (2v2, 3v3, etc.). It's refreshing that you have to actually have to get your inputs correct and adds skill to the game.
I get that for casual players and general audience it can be frustrating, so maybe a nice compromise in the future would be to make ranked modes have these systems, but casual modes allow for more lenient inputs.
MK also doesn't feature legacy special inputs; meaning, the motion for Ryu's fireball has always been d,df,Punch. Scorpion's spear, however, changes it's input across most of the games.
I started playing MK1 on may 16th and thought I was doing kinda alright, then I went into online mode and I realised I sucked. Idk how people with even lower levels than me manage to learn everything so quickly😅. It’s hard, especially having to remember every button combo and I still need to learn how to do air combos.
U have to play online to get good. There is no other way, you will get cooked, but will get better in the long run. Also stick to 1 character that you really like.
I recommend going to practice mode to get a small sample for how each character and kameo assist works or look up character guides and try them out/mix match what feels good for you.
Personally I use the Invasion mode as my practice map just to multitask the character mastery and unlock skins, wouldn’t recommend it unless you want event themed skins.
just reduce the chip damage on projectiles and overall it might improve more solid gameplay
What's your thoughts on Shredder as DLC from TMNT?
As an MK player none of this is a problem to me because I haven't played any other fighting game but I'm glad I found a video explaining MK is not easier as some people say!!!
Buffering and Combo Locking are the most annoying things in this game (Gameplay-wise)
It's very discouraging when trying to learn a character that already has complicated inputs for an efficient combo but also requires absolute timing... it stops me from learning my favorite characters and encourages spamming or giving up entirely and moving onto a different character I hate simply because it's easier.
Me posts The Main Villains for the 2nd Season of a Marvel vs DC Show and reveals Scorpion’s Voice

"Combo lockout" has made me a much better player...... I think it's a good thing, honestly.
let a street fighter or tekken player hop on mkx to see how easy it is
I actually do want to see that and Hell, put MK players on SF and Tekkén to see how they do. Even let SF and Tekkén players try out their other games.
Check out Sonic and Ninjakillas gameplay in other fighting games they are really good but I seen SF guys talk crap about Mk1 because they suck
4:39 is 1 of the most annoying things about MK even if I'm plus for landing the hit my opponent can simply mash and steal the turn back. I tried many times to explain this to people but because they were so causal they couldn't understand and thought I was saying I was waiting too long to press the button or thought I was incapable of mashing back when it shouldn't even be possible for them to land a hit before me if I am plus on hit.
well depends on the attack you using to follow up because if you using a move to keep you plus then try to follow up with a move that doesn't have the frames then that's why you getting punished
@@albodadon7285 I usually follow up with a stand 1 or my fastest mid usually about 10 frames and its not only after I land hits it seems like more often than not when my opponent is -7 they can mash. I've found some ways around this by out spacing the poke , armor, throwing (sometimes) but it's still annoying.
It’s like the cost to play MK1 is higher than any other game in terms of time it takes to fully learn and become a high level player, but the reward is so much more worth it because that gives it the highest potential in being the most enjoyable of all fighting games imo. MK1 is by far my favorite to date!
The only challenge i have with m1k is not falling asleep.
these things makes me love mk 1
I feel like the most important and hard thing in mk is reaction speed. Micro ducks, confirms and punishing are so important. Combos are easy tho. The difficulty comes from the lvl you're aiming for, like in every other fg.
The combo lock is my only problem with this game, that is the only reason I can't do 50%combos.
THAT COMBO LOCKOUT IS REAL DUDE. FUHHHHH---
Good vid. i agree
I’m disabled and I can never block in MK but I could if it blocked if you walked back
ive got so used to mortal kombat gameplay with 11 and 1 i find other fighting games alot harder to understand and remeber controls , still vaild points tho mk is alot harder than people give it credit for
Wow, here before the 5 min mark with no notification. Thanks, CZcams
does barakas slaughterhouse count as auto combo ?
I think he’s the only character with a “just mash B” combo so yeah. Though I forgot if the first two are highs or mids, if they’re mids then it’s a no brainer but if they’re highs then you can just neutral duck and poke.
I did that shit with king in tekken 7 and had a field day 😭
id say sf6 has the hardest combos cuz of drive rush especially with the combo system like normally if ur opponent is in the air u can do anything to keep them in the air but in sf6 you are more limited in combo lenght
for other things like neutral i’d go tekken 8 because of sidestepping, stances, and character variety
mk1 gaving a block button doesnt change much when it comes to blocking besides switching from no block button to mk1 and actually the block button stoped things like cross ups and sandwiching your oppenent
I never understood this contest fighting game have of wHiCh iS tHe bEsT nonsense
Mortal kombat, street fighter, tekken.
They are all good games in their own way and nobody should be afraid to be a fan of them no matter how much the opposite site is trying to talk it into your brain play the game that gives you the most fun end of the story?
GG strive good too
Sadly, that’s what people don’t do. I think the best metaphor is comparing them to being a sports fan like Team Nintendo vs Sega or DOTA vs League.
It s normal to feel differently for our first fighting game.. but in 2024, i really enjoy mk1.. with Ethernet
At the end, a lot of people can't handle a lost because they only can blame themselves..
At FPS you can blame your team, a cheater.. etc.. when you lose..
No such thing at FGC, you want to improve, you gotta practice.. period
When are we going to get homelander we saw his trailer.
I hate the cameo system ngl
Tekken 8 auto combos aren't really a cruch, they're more of an anchor.
So you have to learn the ACTUAL COMBOS if you want to do good to any degree in Tekken 8.
Personally as someone who grew up on streetfighter and Tekken..i find MK1 way harder..
And i noticed all the issues you listed..by far MK1 you have to be more precise with inputs than the other 2..
Tekken to me is overall the most complicated..
Personally, I think MK1 is more worth it to play, it makes you work in order to get what you want, it makes the experience much more fun and it means you worked hard to get where you are right now in the game.
I did a test with my second gt and RANKED up with out single punch kick or combos just stand still and get your a..! Kicked ive got to warrior rank that says it all in my OPINION about the RANKED in kombat leauge 😱🤣😱
I find this game harder to actually combo in the mk11 im not quick enough to get buttons timed right in the millisecond
I think the button canceling is good I think it’s crazy other games let you be so messy with buttons
Is it harder to forward dash in MK1 than running?
If your meaning run from mkx it definitely is harder to dash forward. Run Cancels were hard though
As someone that also plays all the modern fighters I would not call it the easiest game but I can understand how veteran FGC players who have long since removed their training wheels might regard it as so. Also push block meaning you can't just create free whiff punishes is real. Also basic movement in MK is hardest 100%
The problem with mk in general is how overpowerd paid characters are. No wonder why everyone is playing peacemaker or omniman.
This is exactly why I get pissed playing Mileena Mavado because her only mid if you input 4 one to many times Mavado will not come out
Easy to be a scrub. Harder to play with creativity, skill, and generally not being an asshole.
Which is 90% of KL. 😂😂
Who looked at M1K with kameo fighters, air combat, and all of it's nonsense and thought "Easy sauce".
It is a decent game gameplay wise, a bit more content and it would be good, it is getting there.
Imagine playing as the red ranger 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Really didn't like those days when so called pro players used to mock Mortal Kombat and say it wasn't areal fighting game. I am glad that we don't hear that as much these days. I still think there is a level of execution required if you want to be really good with this game. Also in certain situations it can be very unforgiving.
i just want 1v1 option
You just listed some of the main reasons I can't play MK for more than a few days in a row. The stupid buffer thing is specially disgusting. I do like some characters and mechanics, but in the end the game is too annoying, so I switch to play any other more polished FG.
When do you think movie scorpion will release??
Netherrealm add new costumes when the new season of invasion's start's

@@Invincible554 i don't think it's gonna be when takeda launche's,it's more likely that the skins are gonna be released the day Homelander release's

Easy combos are stupid
Mortal kombat especially mk1 is definitely the most difficult fighting game in terms of playing like a pro and performing optimal combos....tekken 8 only requires more skill in movement cause u can sidestep...but mk1 is overall more difficult to perform actual combos
I like Mortal Kombat 1 games❤😊
"Mk1 doesn't have auto combos."
Baraka disapproves 👎
I dont understand why do you have a problem with autocombos; only game you could argue they were too strong is dbfz and even there it was character specific. Good video tho
This game is so much fun, I love the fact that technicaly every character has bread and butter combos, and any weaknesses can be worked out with a good kameo, great game and highly recommend it especially if you love 3D era characters🙏
Lag switching is extremely common in ranked for all mk games , and casual mode full ov rage quiters... thats what make the game not fun , not to mention the average ping ull see is 100-250 very rarely do u find 40-60 ping who aint a lag switcher or rage quiter
Dont know if you reply but, i dont see no patch notes or updates but it seems they nerfed general shao and movados damage. It seems we cant have nothing nice in this world
Edit: I was mistaken, it's a mavado shadow nerf for everybody😢
I hate mk1 made the block & enhance button the same one. And that you had to commit to enhance and time it perfectly rather than getting to choose if you want to enhance mid special move like in mk11
Mk9 and X was like this they just went back to the way most people preferred. The way meter worked in 11 was more like injustice than mk other than the automatic regen
11 is definitely the black sheep
this video just makes it seem like MK1 is the hardest fighting game this decade😂😂
🔥🔥
Let's dissect the man ... 1. Auto Combo.
Being that fighting games rely on you not being obvious and that Auto combos have one route. They're really not that reliable, especially at any level that isn't a beginner. So you can't use it as a crutch for too long.
3. Block button, If we're arguing defensive option then there's not that many in mortal Kombat, in Tekken you can hold back but yóu have to worry about throws, ofcourse throws in mk exist . But not as robust as Tekken .
On top of that there's side stepping, guard breaks and character specific things。
3. I agree about input buffers.
4. Match ups , 😂 yo.. even if you removed all the legacy stuff from Tekken, still has way more match up knowledge than mk. Komeos don't have that many moves, nor do the characters. One Tekken characters moves are still worth 5 to 10 characters from MK .
5. Option select , pretty handy feature..
Honestly I've seen your Tekken gameplay, really not that good, I think if you were in higher ranks , you wouldn't have this disposition.
lol mortal kombat demands perfection
Most combos aren’t difficult at all. Mixups and cancels and optimal combos can be difficult and take skill. However doing the same bread n butter easy combo doesn’t take any skill. Zoning doesn’t take any skill I was able to get God rank just using Reiko stars and tremor boulders no combos no mixups just doing 1 move. For example the clips of rain gameplay, doing the same combo into sub zero mixup. Doing that one thing over and over doesn’t take skill, to block it and get out does.
Like if you really read all the comments
People think this game is easy?!
Soooooooo are we gonna get a nerf for ERMAC??????
WHY tf would you give him that much range!?
yeah because there are 10 options u have to guess
Easiest way to put it is SF got easier as new games came out and MK got harder when new ones came out (minus 11)
That’s a good point. Mk11 is the only game to get easier
@@TrueUnderDawgGaming love your content!
Tbh it's not really hard, just takes time n dedication
Sooo which MK game is the hardest?
I would say MKX but it had too much guessing for my taste
@TrueUnderDawgGaming Hmmm would say MK1comes somewhat close to MKX or play style of MKX is miles ahead?
@@jeremyhayes6585 I think mk1 has more fun gameplay. MKX is just harder because of the run canceling and stamina management.
