I think it's almost ironic that the 2 most successful directors of all time--James Cameron and Steven Spielberg--never attended or at least finished film school. To me, this guy has the most inspirational bio of any filmmaker, he literally came out of nowhere and just worked his way in, educating himself in the process. And, here he is...the most accomplished director of this generation. Yes Spielberg may be more prolific and habitual but when this guy does a project, he goes all out and creates a paradigm shift in how films are made. We should feel lucky to be living in the time of a legend, they don't come to earth every day.

  • @mikebelawless-ebookauthor

Boss!! You are what you do NOT what you think or plan. Do it once, do it 1000 and you polish your craft. Once you do it 5000 times you are a Tarantino or J. Cameron. Maybe not at that commercial success level but at least you have a recievable, a product, a video or a film(s). And that is your portfolio. That's the reference when money/capital people ask you "show me what you've done." Then they invest, budget gets bigger, you film bigger scale, cycle repeats, wash/repeat, and so on...

@@swapniljoshi2939 Spielberg, went to film school but he is a prodigy, everyone admits it. Tarantino, yes, but he just "borrows" from other films repeatedly- styles, camera shots, soundtracks, even plot and dialogue. He got very lucky with guys like Robert Richardson on his team. So Tarantino is not in the same league as either. Cameron is a master craftsman, so is Spielberg. Imagine Tarantino trying to direct something as complex as a masterpiece like Saving Private Ryan or Terminator 2, it would be a complete mess

I’ve directed 112 shorts stores and acted it 155 short s as well dang I a movie star . That’s like saying you want be a race car driver buy a race car and drive it wow you’re a race car driver . That’s not how it works.

Your limited world view is why you probably won't make it very far. Just about as far as what you need to do to survive. But, you won't ever obtain anything greater than yourself if you choose to be as stubborn as your post suggests. You took it too litteral and there was literally no faulty logic being said. The man himself made it. He knows what he's talking about. You either get with that program, or stay in the same place you've always been.
