Bear and Son Baby Bowie?

  • Some silly fun at my literal expense. Is this a useful knife or just a pretty knife-like object? And will my reputation ever recover from this?
Plus, in other mindless experiments, can Mike light an alcohol burner by shooting sparks at it from a ferro rod with a knife he can barely get a grip on?

I bought one of these Bear&Son baby Bowie today. I had a lot of the same concerns while evaluating it at the counter. I finally decided, I'm not going to (use) it. It's functional quality is moot. I just liked it so I bought it and it will be a novelty addition to my collection. A conversation piece!😁

😆 cute wee pokey stabby. Good child's gift or hideaway shiv. Had a similar knife when I was a snottling. Good health to you Sir. ☘️

Thank you. It's cute, but as your results indicate, it's a high end letter opener. Would be nice on the desk in a fancy holder type base perhaps. Cheers.

I bought a NedFoss Dragon Tactical Tanto a few weeks ago. The blade is a little over 4" and scary sharp. First time I've ever had a kydex sheath and I must say that I really like it. The ferro rod it comes with is a nice little bonus.

I was wondering about that Nedfoss tanto. I haven't been sent any more samples but a few designs have tempted me.

Since I don’t own a B&S knife, I went and ordered a Freedom Fighting Bowie instead.😁 I agree with the importance of knives having good grips. I am a big fan of Gerber’s Gator knives, which are very comfortable and grippy for a very good price.

Yeah the gator handles are amazing. The gator clip point folder is as comfortable as a folder can be!

Get a Cold Steel Espada XL. It's a huge folding bowie knife.

I have the L and XL, have been carrying both daily for a few weeks, love 'em! Reviews pending, vs the XL Voyager.

It would make a good patch knife for a Hawken .

Nice review as always. I looked at this knife a few time, but the grip was a dealbreaker for me.
For this money, I rather buy another Cold Steel Sr1 lite. Or 2. I gotta look up if you did a review on these. If not, highly recommeneded knives.
I also am a huge fan of the american lawman. Really useful and super strong, yet easy to carry.

I do have an SR1 Lite and love it. Haven't reviewed it yet. I'm working on a Voyager vs Espada series.

Looking forward to this. For me, the xl espade is too large to carry. The xl voyagers are the way to go. Still don't have one, but the tanto is on my list. In the meanwhile I carry the Luzon large😀

@@maxb.4567 I'm able to carry the Espada XL in a front pants pocket. The Large Espada and the XL Voyagers just about max out a back pocket, and I also get a lot of good use out of them.

@@michaelrizzo5523I've carried the large Espada g10 in cts-xhp for years. The large is about as close to a perfect fighting folder as I've ever found. My other knife I carry is a vaquero xl serrated. I carry that now because it's easy to replace the Espada not so much. I prefer the g10 because I'm lefthanded but also because of how easy it is to carry.
I love fixed blades but it's hard to carry the reach I can get and still be comfortable.
Plus in reality I don't see me ever getting into a duel. I just want a get off me weapon.
Yet years of FMA make me see things through a different angle.
Great reviews I do love your breakdowns

@@richardhenry1969 I've got the local restrictions against fixed blade carry. I also chose the G10 Espada L for flatter lighter carry with less shiny bits to draw unwanted attention. I have a hard time choosing between it and the Voyager XL, love 'em both.

It's a letter opener or possibly a patch knife.

    • @michaelrizzo5523
      @michaelrizzo5523  Před 10 měsíci +1

Not the best letter opener either, it turns out, and I think I could get a better patch knife for less than $10 from SZCO.
