I love how toy story has the bad guy be figured out later. Makes them more complex. It's not just here's the bad guy! They also have a back story on their reasons why they turned bad.

I actually think Lotso is the best villain, Syndrome, as awesome as he was, was a traditional comic book villain. Lotso had a layered story, was unpredictable, and was part of what made Toy Story 3 so epic, you rooted for Woody to come back and save the toys from his tyranny.
I think auto was better. he was the last guy to be a villain. lotso is #2. lotso being bad was so unpredictable it was easy to tell he was the villain.Auto was what I thought would be a minor character but he was evil and I was like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don’t agree. Syndrome is the most evil villain by far (genocide, terrorism, kidnapping and more are under his belt) and his backstory, motivations and twist into villainy are perfect. Lotso is a dictator and selfish asshole but he doesn’t really have as interesting motives or intimidating presence (except for a few scenes)

I would take Hopper number 1. I think he is the most villainous out of the bunch and he just seems so real. "First rule of leadership, EVERYTHING is your fault."

I am so happy Syndrome was on top. I LOVE his backstory and the Incredibles movie period. I love how real the movie was without considering the superpowers.
Alright, while it's a good mention, I have to say that Dean Hardscrabble was not technically a villain. She was made of ice surely but it only because she wanted to weed out those to see what they had. She was the best in her time and she earned that respect. She wanted to make sure that all who passed through her school could have the worth and potential she had when she, herself, was in the university.
But she trapped Mike and Sulley into the Human World while they were trying to get out.
Michael Maximus Not too evil. More of a protective measure to keep the others safe. She was doing what she thought was the best.

I can't believe that Disney got away with Syndrome's "And got busy!" line!
Not really Disney though, for Pixar was still pretty much its own studio still. Also Disney has had innuendo in the past or hell just look at the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
And I suppose the regulators thought kids would take "got busy" as "got busy parenting", rather than the other busy all the adults knew.
There are much more sexual references in The Hunchback of Nortre Dame. The whole movie is based on sexual themes.

Anyway, I'm going to follow a hunch and assume that the main antagonist of "Inside Out" will be Apathy/Disinterest, represented by the Grim Reaper (or some other scary figure that is dreaded by the five protagonist emotions). What better fitting villain for an emotion-centered movie than the anti-emotion itself?

Dreamworks villains are pure evil, like Drago or Pitch, no mercy and always make the situations worse. These look like REAL villains.
I wouldn't consider Dean Hardscrabble from Monster's University as a villain. She definitely gave you the impression that she would turn out to be the villain. She was just a professional leader and experienced scare master. If she was a villain, she would've done anything to make sure Sully and Mike couldn't win. In the end, she even admits in her own way how Mike and Sully surprised her, which is not usual for her to admit. She sure gave me the impression that she would be the Waternoose of this movie, but I stood as surprised as she became towards the end of the movie.

Finding Nemo 2 is confirmed, and it will be called Finding Dory.
IMO, Toy Story 3 ended so well, a fourth would suck.

The fact that he was a villian who was basically human and as such had no real powers save for his intelligence, I'd say that was a great pick. Like Lex Luthor with Superman. Shows that you don't need to be super to be a supervillian.
Martin Meers I feel like Syndrome was created to be kind of a Robin-gone-wrong, which is pretty cool.
Darla can't really be considered a villain. In all reality, she's just a young girl who was never taught how to properly treat fish. There could've been others to make this list

I love Hopper and Lots-O! Hopper is ruthless enough for you to think, "He's terrifying!" and then they give him vulnerability with his fear of birds! And Lots-O is simply amazing with his motivation of being a villain along with his characterization as an old man. I love it!

She's not a villain, she's an antagonist. She's only being irresponsible, and doing what she does because she doesn't know better, so she can't be considered "evil". Same with "Otto"/ "Auto", it's only doing what it's programmed to do.

Sid isn't a villain. He has NO WAY OF KNOWING TOYS ARE SENTIENT. Have you seen the stuff he designed and was capable of? The kid is a child genius. The fact that toys revealed themselves like they did probably scarred him for life.
Well let's see. He pretends to torture toys (burning woody's forehead), steals his little sister's toys and then scares her with the crazy hybrids he turns them into, and, oh yeah, has a fascination and access to explosives no ten-year-old should have. Sid may be a genius, but he's a mad genius, and one unlucky goldfish or hamster away from a sociopath. The fact that he's introduced to us when he blows up an action figure while laughing evily doesn't help. And look at his room! What kid that age has black walls, industrial tools, and workbenches that isn't messed up in the head?
A villain is someone that opposes the ideals of the protagonist. It can be a force, human, or object as long as it opposes a challenge that the protagonist must face. Sid is a villain.

Darryl Flethen I don't think the toys scared him much. You see him in Toy Story 3. He seemed happy to me as he was listening to his music whilst collecting the trash

Henry J. Waternoose was once a normal crab. His family was caught and eaten when he was a small hatchling. He eventually made friends with corals. His life was peaceful until the humans came. While the older people were more cautious, the human children touched Henry's coral friends. Only a few survived. Angered, he ran away, lusting for revenge. He eventually, and unfortunately, fell into toxic waste. This is my he looks grotesque. He ran into a house at night and went into a child's bedroom. The memory of his friends dying made him go on a rage. The child was horrified. Fortunately, there was another monster in there. Henry ran through the door the monster came through, and found himself in Monstropilas. He became the CEO of Monster's INC. and taught the workers the dangers of children touching them. Still lusting for revenge, Henry started working with Randall to utilize children.
The next time you scuba, snorkel or even snuba, listen to the older, more experienced people, and do not touch the coral. You don't want your future to be the plot of Monster's Inc.
That makes a lot of sense... Like my theory of a gipsy witch seducing Frollo, cheating him and killing his adoptive son O_O

I was 7 when I first saw The Incredibles and the way Syndrome died both satisfied me and scared the hell out of me.

I know right. I could even tell he was the bad guy the minute he got on screen. They did the exact same villain as Toy Story 2, a toy gone rogue, the plots are very similar in Toy Story 2 and 3.

caleb sedillo Really? There was this screen that Mr Incredibles discovered and it all showed superheroes with the word "terminated". And there was a dead superhero on Syndrome's island, so it can be implied he invited heroes to terminate them using the robot he created.
It's amazing how my 3 favorite pixar movies had the 3 best villains. It kind of probes the movie is as good as its villain philosophy

Same with Darla. They're just stupid kids. If you were looking through the eyes of the protagonists, however, I guess they could seem evil.

I didn't think Dean Hardscrabble was as much of an antagonist as the entire Roar Omega Roar team in Monsters University. She was more the foreboding, yet wise, headmistress.

I bet they didn't give Mor'du a placing because a giant bear who only had human qualities when he was human (which was really only a flashback story from what I can remember about the movie) couldn't be matched up to all of the human and/or human-like competitors. He isn't as 'developed' (and I say this loosely because he does have motives for his actions) throughout the movie as the other Pixar villains because he wasn't very anthropomorphized to give him more of a human-like feel (like Hopper or Lotso). I guess people feel more connected to or engaged in the villain when they have more human characteristics or are in fact human.
I don't know. I've heard people say they didn't really get the whole turning into a bear thing, which is a little understandable. Disney already turned someone into a bear in Brother Bear, and in that movie, the person was transformed to learn the other side of the story in his brother's death, while in Brave the mother really didn't need to become a bear. She could have just as easily been given any other curse. Also Mordu wasn't really in it that much. But it was still a good movie. :)

My problem with Toy Story 2 is that they prove him right. Not only was child that destroyed toys central to the first movie, but they give him to a child that has destroyed her doll, though not as bad as Sid.
On that note, I put Lotso lower just because he's pretty sympathetic due to his backstory.
I'd put Hopper as #2 and I'd put Auto on, though I'm not sure yet who I'd remove. As a minor note, Munz wasn't "found out as a phony." Or did you miss the bird in the movie?
No Hopper was kinda boring character. Lotso was such a plot twist would made him more of an interesting villain.

Looking at it your way, which is fine, Lotso's turn was not that surprising if you think about it, especially since it wasn't really any different from Prospector's turn in the previous movie. What they did differently was to make you think Lotso might do a Heel-Face turn.

Syndrome should switch places with Hopper. To me, Hopper is number one on this list, because he's more badass, ruthless and cruel than anybody on this list. The guy enslaved the ants and nearly fed a little girl to one of his merciless soldiers without clemency. Plus unlike most of the characters on this list, you can actually take Hopper seriously as a villain. So yeah. Hopper should replace Syndrome as the #1 Pixar villain and Syndrome should be in Hopper's place in this video.

I think Charles should have been a bit higher on the list. He was willing to kill a mother bird (and by extension her babies). Not to mention the fact that it's implied he killed quite a number of other people. Though I agree with Syndrome being #1 he was killing heroes and seemed to have gotten a fair amount of them.
Sid wasn't really a villain: he was just a kid trying to have fun.

Sid really didn't get what he deserved. He played with toys that he didn't know were alive. Sure, he might be a bully, but being traumatised with talking, creepy toys? That seems a bit over the top.
