I get the same thing from every single hairdresser: "your hair is heat-damaged." Then they don't believe me when I tell them I haven't even used a hairdryer in at least 5 years. In fact, I probably take better care of my hair than most people, but the result is still a dry, frizzy mess. Feel your pain!

For those wondering! Here are some other Indian hair/skin treatments our mothers taught us about. 😀
    1) Coconut milk and Aloe Vera gel for an hour all over the hair before shampoo as a conditioning and protein treatment!
    2) Shikakai, Amla, and Yoghurt mixed together and used as a pre shampoo hair mask.
    3) Chickpea powder, Little bit of Turmeric, milk powder and Oatmeal as as body scrub and mask! ( This stuff is FANTASTIC- messy af but makes my skin glow like crazy )
    4) Fenugreek and Black seed infused oil as a scalp treatment for hair loss.

But be careful not to apply on your scalp, just really close to the roots. I have wavy/curly hair and it used to be so frizzy and dry. After i started putting conditioner all over my hair, it became less frizzy and it had more shine. Maybe you also have wavy/curly hair and haven't figured it out yet, i didn't know either. Some tips that make a difference in my experience:
    1) Try applying a tiny tiny tiny tiny bit of coconut oil to your ends before you shampoo. Itl stop shampoo from stripping the hair.. so you will never feel the ends dry again.
    2) Rice water once per week
    3) Henna binds to the keratin in hair, strengthening it... if you dont like the colour of henna, mix it with a range of herbs to create anything from blonde to black to ... antyhing. It is possible.
    4) Scalp massage

Hi Isabella. I have been using arithra, shikakai and amla to wash my hair for over 5 years now. I have the same hair texture/wave as you and I too have normally dry hair. But with this mixture it keeps the natural oils. I prefer however ( you may as well) to buy the whole herbs and make a "tea" out of them. Then we dont get all the little bits left (even though a bit of conditioner will help get them out) If you like discovering new stuff. I recently purchased irish moss (sea weed). I make a gel out of it, use it as a oil free pree poo with my fermented rice and fenugreek water. Also just the gel as a leave in afterwards (slight hold and not crunchy) Enjoy your good hair day! :) I'm having one too, and they are so rare lol (:

To get best results soak the powder over night and then warm the mix then apply, thats how my family has done it for generations.
These two work really really well together along with amla. Thats how I use it once a week but yes it can't remove oils properly.
You can also use a natural hairmask along with it, powder of Brahmi + Bhringaraja + Hibiscus + Senna, soak these over night too and then apply like a mask and wash after 1-2 hour ✌🏻❣️

As I'm getting older, and I'm in my mid 50's, I realize I want to spend less time on my hair---styling, washing, anything. Actually, tbh, I hate washing my hair. Currently it's down to my waist bc I don't think it's time yet to get close to a stylist. It's taken some time, but I'm now at the point where I can wash my hair only once a week and it's not at all disgusting. Two tricks---I use aloe gel every day *as* a hair gel. I rub it in my scalp and work it through my hair to the ends. It's much better for hair than commercial hair gel, and balances the oil/dry problem. Two, I keep it in a clip 90% of the time. When I take it down every day to brush, it's not oily or dirty. Only my bangs get washed every day.

Also most people don't talk about this but using sulfates once a month or every 2 months is important to really give your scalp a good clean since sulfate- free shampoos aren't the best at that. Your scalp does need that super clean so bacteria doesn't build up and cause really bad irritations and itching.

My mom has a recipe of using these ingredients to make a usable shampoo! We store it in the fridge for a week or so. She started making that because I was having a lot of hairfall. We all wash our hair using that for the past year, it really works :) btw I'm from india. Our ancestors have washed their hair using these ingredients only since a very long time. My grandmother also did, in her childhood. We all just forgot about it due to commercialization of everything and wanting a quick fix, I guess. So glad you found this stuff!😇

Try J R liggets shampoo bar soap. I have used it for 5 plus years and I lose no hair in the shower. It's genuinely amazing and any regular shampoo is too harsh for me now. Your hair and my hair are basically the same but mines a little more wavy naturally (but super dry, fine, not very dense). If this soap power worked for you then I think the shampoo bar would work as well. You can get a little lather and it also doesn't leave residue. It also can't really wash out oil testaments unless you wash 3 or so times! I really hope you see this! 🙌 Best of luck

I have the weirdest hair texture , its straight on the scalp till my ears and then goes wavy and then curls at the ends..
its very frizzy too so wat works for me is :
    1. Shampoo one or twice a week
    2. Dilute the shampoo with water (better to oil my hair before )
    3. Condition my hair twice : apply conditioner then rinse it out then apply it again only on the ends and wait for a min or two then rinse it out
    4. ACV rinse
    5. Air dry , when 90% dry
    6. braid it tightly (not too tight) or put it in a bun if u want big curls , overnight .
    Done.
This reduces the frizz alot and gives my hair some definition too would really recommend u try ittt !!!

IMPORTANT!! That curling gel has dimethicone (which is a type of silicone) in it which you want to avoid if you aren't using sulfates to wash because it will just build up in your hair and make it frizzy and dry. Maybe this is a different formula but it at very least USE to have dimethicone in it.

I have really curly hair (around 3c, maybe more) and what works best for me is to wash my hair, when it's still damp, a little more wet, and i put it into four sections. I twist them and put them into little buns on top of my head, i wake up, take them out and scrunch with gel. If it's not curly at some points, i will damp those parts and scrunch them will curling gel or normal gel and they look GREAT! I would reccomend it if you want them a little more defined! :)

Protein treatments are good one a month, moisture treatments once a week after shampooing your hair, or how often you feel necessary, also use heat while doing this, 30 minutes under the dryer. My hair used to be a mess and wouldn’t grow AT ALL until I stated deep conditioning regularly. Hope this helps. Love watching your hair journey ❤️

Hey I came here from your “hair journey” video and I just wanted to come to a new video to ask if you’ve tried the no poo method. Most people advocate for only using some kind of special kind of conditioner, but I had the same kind of issues with my hair so I shaved it and let it grow out, only washing with cool water and my hair type completely changed. After not washing it for a few weeks, my scalp regained its natural ability to cleanse itself, it became much more wavy than before, had a lot of form, didn’t get greasy or dry, and I love it. I’ve been growing it out for two years now and it’s shoulder length and I try to recommend it to everyone. If you want to do it you have to stick with it for multiple months though
