- New research has found that labia surgery has become one of the fastest-growing cosmetic procedures among young people in Australia and worldwide. That’s according to a new report by Women’s Health Victoria, which also found that nearly a quarter of Australian women aged 18 to 24 feel anxious or ashamed about their labia. And this is all largely due to unrealistic expectations informed by porn and social media.
So what is behind this rise in labia surgery? And why is it more common in younger generations? We explore this in today’s deep dive.

About 15 years ago, after I’d had our 2 children, I was experiencing excessively long and frequent periods (10+ days long and every 3 or so weeks). I went to a Gyno surgeon specialist and we tried an internal ablation (removing tissue from internal walls essentially). But in the follow up appointment the guy suggested that he could “tidy up” downstairs.
I was appalled and couldn’t get out of there quick enough. No medical reason whatsoever for a procedure- what medical professional should EVER recommend surgery (always a risk, no matter how minimal) for no health benefit?
Mine are definitely a problem for me but l am not getting surgery.😮
shes even imbarrassed to talk about it,
Maybe but you have to admit that it's a **nt of a subject to deal with.
A few pictures/illustrations would help lubricate the conversation.
