But you probably pet pitbulls in your neighborhood.🙄 Sharks are not "monsters." Dogs that behead babies and actively seek out children and elderly people are, however.
The FEW times I NEVER get water above my ankles! I had a recurring nightmare from age 8 or 10 yrs old - I was a bit over waist deep water, the ocean was clear blue. I looked around me & I couldn't see ANY LAND! Then, about 30 feet away from me, a shart was swimming DIRECTLY towards me. Then the dream/nightmare stopped right before the shark ate me!
@@tracilee2699- you’d think the shart swimming DIRECTLY at you would have acted as a shark repellent. When I was 8 or 9 years old, I remember walking knee-deep along a sandbar in Long Island Sound. As I walked through the clear water, a dogfish, maybe a foot long, swam by my feet. I’d never seen a shark anywhere but the TV. Dad, who was watching me from the beach, said I did the best impression of Jesus walking on water ever, except I sprinted.
I've never seen a hammerhead that big, even with the water and the magnification effect it gives to the person recording it, that is still a giant effing hammerhead.
As a freediver and a spearfisher, sometimes in the middle of the sea you see a big shape or a shadow approaching you from the distance, rule number 1 in this case, listen very carefully, if you hear this theme song you know it’s a shark. They always come with this theme song. PS. I’m not joking.
You're absolutely correct. Music often IS the very key to surviving a dangerous sitaution. In the ocean, it is this theme song. In the mountains, it's banjo music.
Someone might be able to help me out with this one. My late uncle in Cape Coral Florida would tell the tale of a mega hammerhead in the Boca Grand pass that would show up every May/June to eat tarpon from fishermen’s lines. Not sure why he had the nickname of Old Hitler? He would easily bite 150 lb tarpon in half like candy. This went on for years until he disappeared. Thanks for reminding me of all the great memories with Uncle Jim and saltwater fishing. Great short video. Thanks for sharing 😃
notes "Old Hitler" was seen on the other Florida coast... aka "The Harbormaster", thought to be the same Great Hammerhead Shark seen in alternating years between Fort Lauderdale Florida and Freeport in The Bahamas.
When my daughter and I were going to attend a wedding in Puerto Rico, I researched whether or not sharks were a danger. Apparently there has not been any kind of severe attack on anyone in Puerto Rico since the 1700s, I believe mainly because the water is so warm. They are most prolific in California, and the water is cooler there. Even though I researched it, I only went in about to my knees. Thing is, in the ocean when you go in a little past your ankles, within moments, the wave coming in makes it up to your knees. That was in California. Extremely powerful waves as well. I fell over, and had really really hard time getting up because I was being thrown around by the waves. I am absolutely terrified of sharks
@@meh_neh6968yeah I got the chance to see a close to 17-18 footer while in the Bahamas. I knew they got big, but when I seen that shark it REALLY made me question swimming in the ocean. now imagine seeing a great white that length or bigger. Super intimidating.
In the year 2000 or there abouts I personally saw a Hammerhead about 500 yards from the Naples, Floida beach. It was during a yearly Tarpon Tournament and I was assigned a boat to officiate. The Tarpon had to be hooked and brought to the side of the boat where there was a ruler laid out to make sure it was a legal size. (NO FISH WERE HARMED IN ANY MANNER DURING THE TOURNAMENT). They were all released alive and healthy. I was in the top cockpit with the owner and he told me to look down at the port side of the boat. This boat was a 36 ft. Cruiser. That Hammerhead was 18 ft long and I could easily see the tail fin when it was just floating there and his head was almost exactly, if not a bit longer than half the length of his cruiser!! I personally have never gone into salt water once it's up to my knees. Helicopter crews swear that if all the people could see what was swimming in VERY close proximity to them, they'd never go into the water again!!
That is true. Most people cant see whats beneath them, only a bit at the surface, plus their head is too close to the water, not counting cloudy water and pollution. 😅😂
On my uncle's 42 ft Hatteras, I'm up on the flying bridge everybody else is bottom fishing in the cockpit except for me and my uncle. I kept seeing something just out of sight in the water, about amid ships. I told my uncle and he was busy watching everyone else, but then I saw it and it came right up to the side of the boat. This thing from the tip of its tail to the front of its face was at least half as long as the boat! Of course I pleaded Uncle Henry to look at it, telling him how a huge it was! He finally did look, and immediately told everybody to reel 'em in, we were moving! To date, that is the biggest shark I've seen in person, and that includes a 15 ft great white.
Good God if I seen that while I was out either surfing or on a boat, I'd freak the F out and prob die of a heart attack!!! There are probably a lot of reasons we haven't explored the oceans and that my friends is most likely at the top of the list!!!!

As a surfer, when you hear this out in the water, it's time to go in. Doesn't matter if the waves are firing. You paddle as fast as you can for the shore.
@@michaelbocchino584 while I'm not a surfer, as I understand it, it's pretty common yeah. There are a lot of sharks that hunt coastal areas, and the times that they hunt often overlap with the times that surfers are hitting the waves (morning tide/evening tide). so there is a lot of opportunity for the 2 to be in close proximity.
Surfer since 1970 Sharks don't want you. But if you get all scared and excited, you're enticing them. As a former commercial diver who used to dive around fish pens/Shark bait, I still get a feeling of nervousness just looking at these ocean monsters.
But you probably pet pitbulls in your neighborhood.🙄 Sharks are not "monsters." Dogs that behead babies and actively seek out children and elderly people are, however.
ESPECIALLY, knowing what they can do in their own environment!!

As a surfer, when you hear this out in the water, it's time to go in. Doesn't matter if the waves are firing. You paddle as fast as you can for the shore.
Have you even seen sharks like in the water 🌊💦
@@michaelbocchino584 while I'm not a surfer, as I understand it, it's pretty common yeah. There are a lot of sharks that hunt coastal areas, and the times that they hunt often overlap with the times that surfers are hitting the waves (morning tide/evening tide). so there is a lot of opportunity for the 2 to be in close proximity.
See sharks all the time surfing & fishing. The ones you cannot see are the sharks you should worry about.
