  • So the 600 mile service has been completed and a genuine Yamaha quick shifter fitted to the 2023 quick shifter ready Yamaha MT-07.
    This video shows the ride home from the dealership having just collected the newly fettled bike and then a quick whizz up and down the A21 in Sussex with my Son on the back.
    Through I get to play and experiment with the new quick shifter and I comment on what this thing feels like.
    Join me for another fun & scenic ride out.
    I look forward to seeing you :)

    I bought a Hornet last year and got quick shifter on it. Took some getting used to 😅but now, I don’t want to ride a bike without it 😂
    Just bought a Yamaha mt09 sp with quick shifter and auto blipper, man it’s nice and sounds so good

      MT09 SP, Very nice 😻
      I love the idea of the auto blipper.
      I’m loving the new quick shifter on the MT07 already, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun 🤩

      @@TeamOrrCrew why don't you have auto blipper? not possible to install on mt-07 or it was more expensive?

      Hello buddy, thanks for the question.
      As far as I’m aware the auto-blipper isn’t possible on the MT-07. It’s certainly not an option from the Yamaha accessories catalogue.
      The MT-07 comes Quickshifter ready from the factory and the Yamaha quick shifter is a plug & play item. There are aftermarket shifters that give you more adjustment and scope for tweaking, but I’ve found the factory item to be more than good enough for my needs.
      I’ve never heard of anyone putting an autoblipper on an MT-07 (I’m happy to be corrected on this if anyone knows otherwise), so I’m fairly sure that it’s not technically possible and I think that’s because it’s a cable throttle. I think for the auto-blipper to be possible you need a ‘fly by wire’ throttle set up.
      Hope that helps bud.👍😃

    When stopped and putting it into first the bike jumps forward, and it’s was really stiff going into gears, I had my first service and it still didn’t fix it my Yamaha dealer said it was a known issue and they had already put new clutches in 2 other bikes. It went back at 708 miles they put a new clutch in it and it fixed the bike mine was the third one they had done….apparently it’s was something to do with the oiling of the clutch plates when the bike where made. I know now of 12 bike with the same problem

      Good information there, thank you.
      Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it.
      I haven’t had the issue for a while, since fitting the quick shifter anyway. That fits the narrative as I’m hardly using the clutch these days. Food for thought 🤔
      Thanks again fella 👌😃

      How is your quickshiftet mine has a bit of a jump in the first 3 gears

    • @TeamOrrCrew
      @TeamOrrCrew  Před 3 měsíci

      @@konradwhiteley it’s okay. I definitely find it a bit clunky at lower revs. So I generally don’t use it around town as I get a smoother ride using the clutch.
      I also don’t use it from 1st to 2nd on the advice of the guy in the Yamaha dealership, he reckons it’s easy to inadvertently select neutral!? 🤷‍♂️
      But once you’re motoring or if you are accelerating hard then it’s fantastic. I find that thing to be a lot of fun! 🤩
      My gear change issues were always at high revs and hard acceleration. So the quick shifter has removed the problem albeit with a workaround rather than a fix.

    Got my mod 1 in april. Im currently riding a honda cb135f. Im torn with either getting a mt-07 or sv650 after i pass my unrestricted. Ive heard the sv650 is a bit on the smaller side for tall riders though.

    • @TeamOrrCrew
      @TeamOrrCrew  Před 5 měsíci

      I’ll be honest that I don’t know too much about the SV650, but what I have read has generally been very positive.
      The MT-07 hasn’t disappointed me. I’m really enjoying it. I’m tall(ish) at 6’2” tall and it fits and feels fine. I can’t speak for the SV650 though.
      I suppose the best way is to just take your time and perhaps see if you can get a test ride on each bike to see which one suits you best.
      Both solid bikes though.
      Thanks for the comment buddy, appreciated 👍😁

    Ive got a tracer 7 gt 2023 which is going for a first service and I was wondering about a quick shifter. Do you have to let off the throttle when changing or can you keep it open and just shift through?

    • @TeamOrrCrew
      @TeamOrrCrew  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Hi 👋
      You literally just keep the throttle open, no clutch and shift up.
      The quick shifter takes care of everything else for you.
      It’s weird at first & I keep forgetting and using the clutch, but that’s okay too.
      Cool little gadget, lots of fun. I’d recommend one 👍😃

    how do you like the quick shifter mate?

    • @TeamOrrCrew
      @TeamOrrCrew  Před 3 měsíci +1

      It’s good, really good fun.
      I think it’s a bit clunky around town and I feel that you get a much smoother gear change and ride by using the clutch at lower speeds/low power.
      But when you are winding it on, not having to de-throttle or pull the clutch is amazing fun & I’d say worth the money just for that.
      It’s a plug and play item from Yamaha & not a lot of money, I like it buddy. 😁
      Thanks for the question, hope that helps a bit.

      @@Brabobiker. mines a 2023 and its quick shifter ready. Same as the 2024, but different colours.
      I hear good things about the Translogic quick shifter. The mechanic who works on my bike has one and had very good things to say about it. He has an older MT-07.
      Only thing is it’s quite expensive at about £400.
      But apparently it’s more adjustable? That’s way over my head though 🤯😂😂
