- Easily my favourite of all the recordings by the late great Renee Geyer. A reworked, remixed version of her 1975 hit 'Heading In The Right Direction', with session musicians from Stevie Wonder's band and recorded in Hollywood in 1976, this great composition is regarded as an Aussie classic penned by Garry Paige and Mark Punch but Renee's was not the first. Johnny Rocco Band memorialised it earlier that year and Renee scored a minor hit with it early in 1976 after including it on her 'Ready To Deal' album. This funkier, shorter track was released as the single in America from her 1977 opus 'Moving Along'. I never tire of it. I miss Renee already!

RIP Renee. Back in the 70's when Australian music was all rock, pop, country or folk you bought the soul! I hope you get to hang out with your inspirations - Aretha, Donny Hathaway, Nina Simone, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles. Your music lives on!
