Excellent analysis. I am s bit surprised that Dr. Acharya did not propose or bring up the need for shifting Nepal,'s capital city somewhere appropriate. This would let Kathmandu remain as a cultural, economic tourism city and for us to focus on a smart capital city.

Long term vision chaina..... traffic badyo bhanyo bhaney, pheri road extension kai kura aauxa.....Road extension is a cheap escape....
Germany has reclaimed the extended road, and diverted its attention on more feasible and 24 hour reliable public transport system.
With every passing year, Nepal is stepping 15 years back. No wonder, the youth today are frustrated and take an easy way out of the country.

Main problem with public transportation in Nepal is: total lack of public (i.e.,government) investment for public transportation. Nepal needs to enact a law: 25% of public expenditure for road expansion should be spent on providing public transportation. Expansion of roads without simultaneous investment in public transportation should be considered a crime to society.
