my favorite character is probably G'raha Tia (the redheaded catboy) but I also really like Hien (one of the main npcs of Stormblood). my main job is currently bard, with a second favorite being dancer, but that might change once reaper is available

Btw they are not finishing 14th but they are finally closing the ark of Hydaelin and Zodiark and after that they will start another ark of story.

When you find out Soken made the endwalker theme while in a hospital bed fighting cancer. The man is a real warrior of light.

@@PhilipHarts gotta correct that a bit. it was during covid near the end of the shadowbringers trailer. He made the song for the finale fight. That's the song in particular he says became the way it is. Because of the love and support of the fans. Endwalker was probably later after near the recovery process of covid. Although Soken hasn't gotten in detail on anything else he worked on in the hospital.
When the Heavensward theme kicked in and they went through all the different expansion themes back into the Endwalker theme... Chills, I didn't think they could make another trailer as hype as Shadowbringers but wow, this was so hype.

Chills, I love how they incorporated each main leitmotif from every previous expansion (ARR, HWD, SB, and SHB)
The red haired catboy is G'raha Tia, he's an important npc in the Crystal Tower raids in ARR and in Shadowbringers.
The dragon is Vrtra, one of the first brood. They are the sibling of Tiamat, Nidhogg, Ratatoskr, Bahamut, Hraesvelger, and Azdaja.

If you listen closely, the entire theme was from every expansions we had so far remixed into this trailer. Furthermore, it was a duet. First time ever in FF14. Throughout the entire trailer, the voices seemed like it was battling eachother. I am sure they did it on purpose to signify what's going to happen in the story. It's a battle between two Gods in the game, Hydaelyn and Zodiark.
The male vocals sound to represent the Ascians at some points, so that would fit being Zodiark's side of the song or story.

Sounds to me instead of a song about liberation and standing up to fight in the name of liberation, it is now a rallying cry and that the freed will take the offensive to the conquerors.
That moment when all the previous expansions' musical motif were used and then that Torn from the Heavens - omg.
Plus that Old Sharlayan reveal BGM, HYPE!

12:26 I'd also like to point out the extra symbolism here. G'raha Tia (the guy reading the book) and Fourchenault (the guy in the middle of the council room) are both standing in the middle of the frame, but at the point of transition are facing in opposite directions with regards to the camera, symbolising their opposed viewpoints - Fourchenault is trying to suppress and hoard knowledge and power, whereas G'raha is reading top-secret information with the intent of sharing it.
i think the reason why it feels like the end of ffxiv with all of the expansion themes making an appearance is because this expansion is the finale of the Hydaelyn/Zodiark story. there will still be more ffxiv, it's just this particular story with the gods of light/darkness and the ascians coming to an end. or as G'raha Tia (the redhead) said "The final chapter in the tale of this star."

depends on what i'm feeling like listening to. for calm relaxing music, i prefer The Warrens (theme of Snowcloak) and The Mushroomery (Matoya's Cave theme) and for more upbeat music either A Long Fall (The Twinning Theme) or To The Edge (Seat of Sacrifice theme)

Especially after what we heard at the end of the fan festival. Our man Soken composing some of the most beautiful XIV songs while battling cancer and staying in the hospital. That guy deserves all the respect and love in this world.
The Monster the paladin kills in the End, it's a Terminus Monster which you also fight in Shadowbringers as a Dungeon Boss.
He is the Dragoon you met in Heavensward but he had a helm on.
Technically you meet him in ARR if you're playing a Lancer/Dragoon

My favorite expansion has to be Shadowbringers, hands down. The emotional roller coaster this expansion put me through is indescribable.
My favorite job is Dancer. My main character, a viera named Vasha, mains Dancer. I even pre-ordered the Dancer acrylic statue, and I love it!
My favorite song is a tie between Answers and Dragonsong.

So. The guy with the red eyes where you ask "Who is that!?" That guy was the guy with the Crystal Arm in the last trailer, G'raha Tia, AKA The Crystal Exarch.
The Dragoon is Estienien Wyrmblood, The Azure Dragoon, and a major ally during Heavensward. The dragon with him is Vrtra, one of the First Brood. He's ridden around similarly with Tiamat, Vrtra's sister.
It's not the end of FFXIV, just the end of the Haedalyn and Zodiark story arc. They have promised it will continue and 6.1 will be starting a new storyline.
The monster that attacks the Warrior of Light and Darkness at the end of the trailer is The First Beast, which is a boss in Aumarot where Emet-Selch, the trailer's narrator, first explained the true history of the world, and Haedalyn and Zodiark, and why they were summoned to begin with. It's the 2nd coming of the Final Days that destroyed the Ascian society and drove them to summon a god in desperation, and required they sacrifice half of their people. But the world was left toxic and unlivable so they sacrificed another half... And then they wanted to summon him again and another group of people had enough of summoning Zodiark and summoned Haedalyn to stop the Zodiark summonings, and it split the world into 14 alternate worlds. Shadowbringers took place on The First, Norvrandt, but now we're back in The Source, the main world.

the hydalyn vs zodiark arc isn't gonna end with 6.0 and the after that is gonna be 6.1
it's gonna continue till 6.3 (as they always do) and then 6.4 and 6.5 are setups for the next major story arc.
Would give very little conflict time concidering an expansion can be long but not long enough to show us everything we need to experience, they always do 6.1 and 6.2 where you learn more about the conflicts etc and then the conclusion of that expansions story in 6.3.
Then they use 6.4 and 6.5 for the next expansions setup. (replace 6 with 2,3,4 and 5 and you'll have each expansion basically, they have planned the content out all the way back since ARR, Yoshida confirmed this when people were asking him why the patch cycle was so stale and predictable, it was because when Yoshida wanted to save 14 he had to basically put out an road map for his superiors, howlong is this gonna last, howmany patches, howmany expansions, this is just the end of that roadmap, no doubt he'll be given a lot more freedom after endwalker concidering he basically rescued SE's ass with FF14)

Yoshida and team have explained this multiple time. It's in the Digitial Fan Fest announcements. 6.0 EndWalker ends the current arc, and 6.1 begins the new story set up. This has been explained MULTIPLE times. You're trying to mansplain stuff to a very active member of the community who follows all of the announcements constantly.
Endwalker is also 30% longer because they found it more expensive to cut content than just push through and do it anyway. But seriously, if you're gonna try to explain to someone, do a tiny bit of research and fact checking before you explain to them how they're wrong when they're not.

I cannot express how happy it made me to hear Yoshida say that not only is it not the end, but that he will continue to direct and product long beyond 6.0 as he sees FFXIV as his life's work. This game has become his passion.
@@ninjafoxgamesgeekery I imagine considering how strong the FF14 community has become with subscribers that they’ll probably continue it for quite sometime. It’s likely Square Enix will probably make FF16 and 17 single player experiences and then FF18 would probably be the next online next generation Final Fantasy. It’s great too see how much more organized the development teams are now thankfully so it’ll make games come at a better pace.
@@hector4470 And whenever 14 is finally wrapped up and they move on to the next MMO entry, based on XI we can be sure that XIV will conclude with a satisfying final patch to conclude the story.
@@hector4470 Well let's not forget, his team (Creative Business Unit III) is also working on FF16, with Yoshi-P as producer on that title, as well. Clearly the miracle work he'd done as producer for FFXIV (and, of course, the team with him, as game development is a collaborative endeavor!) has earned him tip-top confidence from the heads of the company.

those are all characters specific to those expansions. in the shb trailer, the wol cycled through all the classes shown in previous trailers (war, drg, monk, sam, and drk for shb)
the New Location is "Old Sharlyan", which is a location we've known about in-game since 1.0, as they make the Aetheryte Crystals that allow fast-travel through Eorzea. their symbol is the Nautilus Shell, or rather the Spiral shape of one. They're a repository of ancient knowledge, and are basically neutral regarding any events in the world.
The parallels to ancient Greece aren't unwarranted, but I'm sure they're more akin to the Great Library of Alexandria.
The flying demon girls and the lizard monster aren't new actually. They were seen in the Shadowbringers story dungeon "Amaurot" where we are shown visions of the end of days.
It's not the first time an expansion trailer has called back to the previous expansions. In shadowbringers the warrior of light transitions between jobs in order of expansions (bard>dragoon>monk>samurai) before taking up the new expansion signature job of Dark Knight.
The catgirl is named Ysh'tola. In ShB she took on the name of Matoya who is her mentor. Her garb changed to that black style in ShB because she changed job to Black Mage.
I've never actually played any of FFXIV, but when I was in NY 2 years ago, I thought it was amazing how I saw an entire collage of billboards for Shadowbringers covering an entire section of a building in the middle of Times Square.

Shadowbringers is definitely my favorite expansion. And the theme for the Amaurot dungeon is my favorite song - "Mortal Instants"
Of course, all of the themes related to Amaurot are great in general.

Insatiable, the final boss music for any ShB dungeon, is my personal favorite song in ffxiv. The build up at the start let's you know it's gonna be a good fight and the lyrics and piano(I think it's piano 🤔) keep you pumped during the fight
the enemy at the end of the trailer, is known as "The First Doom" the first boss of Amaurot. basically the herald of the Final days. SPOILERS: what we can infer from this is, at the end of the trailer, we are approaching the end times that the amaurotines had experienced before us, that we had witnessed near the end of shadowbringers.

@@DarkOmegaZero yeah, was just a cool tidbit from my side because stuff like those sekeletal dragon things are voidsent (Amdapor Keep calls it Anantaboga but I'm not sure if that's the individual or voidsent species), and it honestly looked like a voidsent invasion at first which confused me a bit. Then I talked to a few friends and looked for myself, and figured out they all were present in Amaurot (I never had much time in the beginning when Amaurot was part of the Expert roulette to look closely at the mobs since I'm a healer and babysitting three suicidal people indungeons, haha). That has interesting implications for the Void, honestly.
Also because the First Doom was mentioned, but not the small ones^^
@@Yuyu5001 Speaking of the void...Reaper is probably going to turn a lot of the lore upside down with its apparent transformation mechanic. It's one thing to contract and summon a voidsent It's another thing to host it within oneself

Honestly I know it gets a lot of dissing but Stormblood was my favorite expansion personally, I love all of the expansions but Stormblood resonated with me the most, after all the types of settings introduced in that expansion are very much inspiration for my first D&D campaign I am going to run and have helped me consider the lore and culture of that part of my setting's world.
Likewise the job I mained while playing the game for the majority of a year ago was Red Mage, I've always been a mixed martial-magic type of person when playing rpgs and Red Mage honestly had the best feel for me. Eventually I'll be making a new character and starting from the beginning when my friend wants to start playing, once where I was a sprout and had a veteran guide me through the majority of my time playing I can now be that for her as she starts her journey, and who knows I might just play RDM again, but we shall see what draws me this time around.
Ugh! Endwalker's opening cinematic gives me chills!! I love everything about it. Endwalker by far is my favorite expansion.

One reference you missed was for when they showed off the Athens looking place and did that descriptive pan down (it’s what I’m calling it), they did the same technique for that same character just instead of going down they went up in the Shadowbringers trailer. Granted he was in a hood there.
I'm surprised no one noticed the transition between him facing away from the camera and then swiping his cloak with the after image conforming to the shape of the world behind it as the WoL faces forward and the camera zooms out

To answer your question! Stormblood was my favorite expansion. I thought It was a very beautiful story. It reminded me of my childhood watching anime’s for the first time watching the cinematics. I loved they eScape storyline as well! The job I Main is Machinist :) one of my al time favorite classes. The speed within the rotation feels fluid to me :) thanks for your reaction. It was great!

My favourite expansion so far - Shadowbringers. The story got me involved in the game for the first time. In previous installments I was always taking long breaks, and I hardly levelled up any job to max level, but now, I'm close to get all jobs on 80! :)
My main is Dancer - I love it's toolkit, being able to buff my party and to be really mobile (En Vante :D)
About the music - from Endwalker trailer - I LOVE that part in Old Sharlyan, it's so good! ❤
Favorite expansion? Good question, they're all phenomenal - but I think I preferred Stormblood more for how the jobs played at the time.
As for my job? Black Mage for life, but I do enjoy Astrologian quite a lot.
So when they did the transition from the catboy Graha in the dusty old library to Y'Shtola the catgirl in the fancy and proper library, did they not have anything modeled beyond that pillar they used for the transition, or do you think the pillar was a "physical" part of the room? Just wondering because objects like the character itself or the table, sconces, etc., that moved in and out from behind the pillar made it look to me like they modeled an entire 360 degree room then filmed the camera spinning around it and just chose a spot to roll the footage from the following scene. Not sure how to describe it, just the objects in that room looked like they "belonged" there for lack of knowledge of a better word, and not like they were just shoe-horned in to add depth.

Since they're removing belts in the expansion, I want them to add an NPC wearing a Lulu inspired dress. "She's the one who bought all the belts!"
It's SUPER hard to pick my favorite FFXIV song. Especially because they also have variations of songs from other games, like the AMAZING new version of Kaine (Salvation) from the Nier raids. A Long Fall is definitely a favorite, as is pretty much anything associated with Alexander.

@@PhilipHarts Fun raid, too! They packed both that song and Emil (Sacrifice), so it was a double whammy. Although the new version of Weight of the World from the first raid where they combined it with elements of Prelude was another big winner.
My favourite FF14 expansion is Stormblood and my current main is White Mage.
It's not the end of FF14. It's the end of Hydaelyn&Zodiark story arc and after that there will be another story arc

I'm personally a bit perplexed by the character models. They look so different from what I am used to in game.
Soken is a nutty composer. And he gets better with every new song.
There is too much great music in this game to decide on one clear favourite.
Oblivion and Fiend came from left field and surprised by how unconventional they are for boss themes.
A Long Fall is a complete banger of a dungeon track.
Nothing beats Torn from the Heavens in epicness.
And Civilizations is the most memed and one of the most beautiful field tracks.
Tomorrow And Tomorrow is still so dear to my heart for the moment it accompanied.
I've heard around that the different character models is due in part to the pandemic. As SE had to jiggle staff around to keep people safe so they had to use the Shadowbringer cutscene models which existed before the in-game models. Which is why they appear ever so slightly different to what we've grown used to during Shadowbringers.
@@FireWarrior2013 Urianger's face is more pointy than in game and his dress lacks the cut-out on his backside, Thancred is more tanned than in game, Y'shtola's and G'raha's eyes are smaller and less "anime", G'raha's neck is also not as wide as usual.
I don't see it as a negative because their in-game models are restricted by the engine and the CGI version are maybe closer to the original vision. They just look different. The quality of the models is extremely high still.
Some people complained about a lack of facial expressions but I disagree with that. They are subtle and not that dramatic but I think it suits the feeling of determination in face of impending doom.
Shadowbringers is my favorite song and Expansion though Heavensward really was the expansion that pulled me in.
My FF14's main class is Dragoon, and i was happy i picked it becouse it ties in perfectly with the Heavensward story(Estinien greets u like a rival instead of just some stranger) though Jobwise i also played alot of Red mage(so much fun!) and Dark Knight, my first tanking expirience.
Shadowbringers has been my favorite expansion so far, the story, the music, the characters and the locations are all just, for lack of a better term, fucking immaculate 👌 Endwalker looks like it just might just top ShB, but we'll see lol been a Bard from ARR to SB but switched main to Dancer/White Mage in ShB, and now looks like I'll be switching to Reaper for main in EW, a class I've been wanting the last 2 expansions XD
My Main now is SAM / DRG, but I am def gonna be meaning Reaper like everyone else lol
Also, the creature is called The First Beast, in a certain dungeon I can't name here. So, Ill leave you with all the connotations of what entails lol

My favorite is Heavensward and Shadowbringers, my main job is Red Mage. Btw this isn't the end of FFXIV, just the original story. Then in 6.1 a new story begins.

I liked some of the insight of the composition of shots you were able to give, but your initial reaction to characters was...strange. Like you clearly know something about the game, but I actually am struggling to know where you are in the game from your comments. I dunno, probably could have been avoided if you had said about how much you'd actually played, even if just a bit. Because while there's a lot to the trailer to get excited for, Matoyas (or rather, y'shtolas) outfit isn't one of them. She's been rocking it for 2 years now.

it's not the end of ffxiv it's the end of the main storyline we have been following since 1.0 so 4 expansions and the remake.
I'm a new player and just got to heavensward, desperately catching up :). I'm a nin/sam till the end!

The expansion won't be out until the end of this year and the later stuff is only so good because it is the payoff for the things set up before~

From what I recall from watching previous videos/reactions, he may have made it to heavensward but that was a while ago (couple years methinks). Someone can correct me if wrong

As much as I loved Shadowbringers, the Stormblood cinematic is my favorite -- if mostly because of the spar between Lyse and WoL. Which is interesting, because that was actually my _least_ favorite expansion. I just felt it went on too long, for one.
FYI, this is "the end" of the current primary over-arching plot that has been running since the beginning. After the 6.0 expansion is wrapped up, they will be introducing a new major story arc starting with 6.1
