Great video! Sounds like the Hoover decade Elite bearings might need to be greased or replaced. 😊

or do u think it may just be the fan?

The fan sounds fine to me. If you want to, you can check it. I believe it’s the bearings because I have noticed when listening to the machine. The noise sounds a little bit higher than usual. That’s just my opinion. Usually, when I hear a machine, I listen to them really closely to see how they run. It’s hard to tell when the bearings go bad. 😊

Cool! My late grandmother had an Elite Supreme for many, many years.

i was born 96 & my dad actually used to work on these old elites back when they were brand new. i remember i had a hoover elite soft & light w the “triple filtration system” logo on it & it was dark red which had the tan handle grip & the side mounted attachment kit. it was my very 1st vacuum cleaner encounter ever throughout my childhood & my parents had to use their sears credit card on it to be able to afford it, we were living in an apartment around that time for over like 2 or 3 yrs when we had it & then eventually we moved into a smaller house at about around 2000 & then unfortunately my parents decided to get rid of that old elite after it quit working & later replaced it w a soft & light supreme which was another elite that my parents bought at walmart sometime between like 2001 & it was in green & came w the wrap around hose & had the black handle grip & my mom was quite obnoxiously care w it back then. i remember 1 time she vacuumed up a freakin lincoln log w it & it made a very awfully loud screeching grinding sound & caused my eardrums to bleed pretty badly & then after my parents unclogged it, the headlight was burnt on it & then sometime between like 02 or 03 my parents also threw out that machine as well too after it quit working & then later replaced w either a eureka bravo or precision & it was in blue

@@vacuumboi96 Cool. I was born in 1986 and I was 9-10 years old when my granny got her Elite. In 1996, her sister bought her a Eureka The Boss Victory which is still working. I rebuilt it in 2018. She passed in 2021 and I have taken care of it. I love old Hoover and Eurekas, but my favorite brand is Kirby. I have had a variety of vacuums, but I have had the same Kirby since I was 12. It is the model 519 from 1959. I did a complete rebuild of it in 2009 and have made little custom touches to it off and on since then.

@@mattjones7621 iv always had a soft spot for the old elites back then. they r my all time fav vacuum cleaners ever, however tho.. i did used to be quite sensitive to the noise levels w them back then throughout my early childhood growing up in the early 2000s especially w how obnoxiously careless my mom was w them back then & another prob too w the old elites is they do tend to break alot pretty easily because the plastic on them is very brittle & cheap as u take them apart & service them when theyre in need of repairs & maintenance but despite all of that, they actually clean up pretty good for old machines despite all of their screaming overly loud hoover glories but at the same time i do oddly love the sounds they make & they r def soo much better than any of todays bagless, robot & cordless vacs combined.

@@vacuumboi96 Yeah, I noticed that, too. My granny's Elite was quite loud and the plastic was brittle. She had the fan break on her once, but that was an easy fix. My local vacuum man, Bill Parks, taught me how to repair them. I agree that they beat today's junk machines they have out there now. At least they beat and groomed the carpet quite well. They also had a decent amount of airflow. That Elite Supreme would lift the carpet up off the floor.
