Hutterite Colonies own a very large % of the grain land, and dairy quota and chicken quota etc etc. The family farm as we understand it is all but done, sadly,there are very very few left.

My father, grandfather and great grandfather were all coal cutters (miners) in Westville back in the day. I was raised in Southern Alberta. I flew from Tampa to Toronto to get a new TN visa. Rented a Dodge Stratos. WOT down 401 to go visit friends in Hull, PQ. Even with an hour stop at a NY border crossing to get visa, still made Ottawa in 4 hours. 120mph the whole way. The world's fastest car: a rental. In 1960 or so, Dad drove his 1958 Edsel from Thunder Bay to Saskatoon in 12 hours. WOT and that was on gravel and the square, no highways then. Dad said that Edsel was the fastest car he ever had, a solid 135 mph indicated. Tire smoke back then was black, due to tires having more natural rubber in them.
