  • Thought I'd just do a quick review on my Tamiya DT-02 chassis Nissan Titan and look at the modifications I've made to it. Also included are my future plans for it and a speed test. For the speed test it had the Absima 3421kv brushless set and a 5000mAh 2s lipo battery. Many thanks for watching. Please like (if you like !) :-) The Mark Brian front shock tower mod that I mention can be found here • Tamiya DT02 Hop-ups an...

    The DT-02 is a nice chassis.

    Thank you for this video. There are many of very useful information for my project. I'm converting my DT-02 into Blitzer Beetle. I've already got a beetle body and tires. I'm ordering the wheels and front longer uprights, which I almost forgot that I need longer sets. Thanks again. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks Pete, im thinking of buying one . This thing is fast enough and looks like great fun. We have a Blitzer beetle and it's a beast but they break easy . We always go too far with the motors and over power everything but it's fun. Great video and review thanks Pete .

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  Před 3 lety

      Yeah this is a bit less breakable than the Blitzer for sure. Did you see the other video where I've got the lexan beetle shell on this? It's called Indestructible Blitzer or something like that. Good luck with your project 😁

      Hello mate. Actually I was going to say sorry I haven't seen yours yet as we have been at the Great Dorset steam fair since yesterday lunchtime. We are camping a couple of nights. All good fun with all sorts of entertainment and beer. Thanks for your comments on mine. Not a very popular kit from Tamiya but actually really good with these tweeks. I know you know this chassis inside out. Anyway just having a little break from the action and back for the heavy drinking and music acts in a bit. Enjoy your break too. Catch ya soon 😀

    Good video Pete. You don't see many on the Titan. It's a shame it never really reached the popularity of the other DT-02's. Funny how a body can make such a difference in opinion.

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  Před 5 lety

      Yeah I think that maybe people don't like having a truck which is really a buggy with a different shell. They'd probably sell a few more if it was always as cheap as me and Ric got it. Hey I can't remember if I asked you this before but are you a member of the Tamiya club and is it any good for finding second hand ones ? I'm looking for a second hand Sand Scorcher or even just the chassis as I have the bits to build a body. The kit new is very expensive for what it is. Anyway, thanks for watching this one mate :-)

    I got the 2010 holiday buggy (same chassis) for 50 pound before lockdown now I'm turning it into a sand viper with original falcon box art with yellow CVA shocks..

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  Před 3 lety

      That sounds like a good price. Yeah I did the same sort of thing a few years ago with a Holiday buggy kit. They run really well with the CVA shocks. Have fun :-)

    looks great Pete i must admit I prefer the Blitzer beetle look but then i have a soft spot for VW something i have not seen a lo of t and i know a pretty old now is the wt01 chassis as in Blackfoot mk3 being used for custom work i have had one for ages it has the proline VW Baja bug body tough as nails i run a pretty high kv motor a 4pole 5800 this because i can only run a 2s in that chassis but it handles the power no problem

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  Před 5 lety +1

      Yeah you can't beat a bug based RC. Yours sounds great. Also good because the rounded shape means that it usually rolls back onto its wheels. Many thanks for your comments 😀

  • @NordicRC
    @NordicRC Před 5 lety

    Great video and DT, Pete! Love my DT's, so really enjoyed that. Wow, that is a fast one. Much faster than my 02 with the 17T pinion and 10.5T Tamiya motor. Yeah, buggy wheels for this one. But I do like the looks of it with the Blitzer wheels/tires. So the blitzer wheels is a direct fit to the rear wheel axles? (I have to get the GPM blitzer alloy for the front). Would LOOOOVE to see that one with the Bug Body on. Will be a fast light nimble super Blitzer Beetle :-)

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Mikael. Yes the DT-02 is a great little chassis. That brushless motor set I use is good for pepping up any Tamiya kit so I generally put it in everything. Yes the Blitzer back wheels fit the back hubs with no modification. The GPM parts are really good but they tend to come from China so a but of a delay before they arrive. Will be good to get the Beetle body done as I love that look. Should be more robust than my actual Blitzer was. Thanks for watching mate. Hope you are having a good weekend 😀

    • @NordicRC
      @NordicRC Před 5 lety

      Pete Wylie RC Videos Thanks, Pete. Good to know. Yeah, used to order GPM from China, but sometimes they came in unbranded bags, so I tend to order GPM from Tamico usually. They pretty much got every GPM part and they ship to Denmark within 2-3 days.

  • @laho1106
    @laho1106 Před rokem

    Good one! Why did you have to swap the uprights etc. for the other wheels? I am about to get one of these but I will try to fit "normal" car wheels on it. Like rally/offroad style tyres. I was thinking that it has 12mm hex and it should be an easy swap?!

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  Před rokem +1

      Hi there. Well on these 2wd Tamiya buggies the front hubs don't have hexes, they just have a spindle. The front wheels have bearings in them and the spindle on the hub needs to match the width of the wheel. On other brands you have hexes all round on a 2wd buggy but not Tamiya unfortunately. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching 😁👍

    Hi. Great video. I have a holiday buggy I picked up second hand and would love to put a beetle body on it. Did you have success with this and if so can you please tell me which mounts worked for this application? Thanks

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  Před 4 lety +1

      I have to admit that it's one of those little projects I haven't got round to yet. I'm thinking that it will be a bar that goes through the body at the sides like a Blitzer Beetle. You have reminded me that I need to think of something! I'll have a look tomorrow. Many thanks for your comments 😀

      @@PeteWylieRC Thanks for the reply. I will look forward to seeing the result. Seen people do it but none have shown how the did it. Would be great to see.
      I have seen someone put a rough rider shell on this chassis too using standard mounts which are supplied on the parts tree for another car, maybe Gravel Hound or something. I plan on doing this as well as a Beetle.

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  Před 4 lety

      @@DustyFingersRC Just a little update on this. I've got the lexan Beetle shell mounted on this using the Titan front mounts as shown in the vid and on the back I have used Killer Body post extensions on top of the Holiday Buggy rear body mounts. You only need a short length of post extender, maybe 3cm or less. I haven't tested the durability of this setup but it looks good. If you have got the Holiday Buggy front mount then I don't know how robust it would be if you extended that mount to suit the beetle. Might be worth looking into something more like the Titan with the two long posts. Hope this helps. cheers

    • @PeteWylieRC
      @PeteWylieRC  Před 3 lety

      Hi there. Not sure what you mean. The uprights are the same on all DT-02's I think. They are part 19005086. This one just has slightly longer shocks I think.

      Yeah I used Killer Body post extensions on top of the Holiday Buggy rear mount. You need to cut them short as you only need to raise the rear mount by a couple of cm for the beetle body to fit. Good luck 😀
