  • Next project on the channel that is really exciting for us, 1959 Ford F100 Long bed and 2010 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor chassis swap. In this video, we complete the sheet metal work on the cab as well as fabricate and adapt the original sheering column to be used with the crown Victoria rack and pinion. This series of videos will highlight how to do this conversion as simple and cost effective as possible. We are shooting for $2000 initial budget to have a running driving shop truck. In the future, we will make improvements after we enjoy it for awhile. Also, you know me, this is staying patina!

    I love that you're keeping the F100 dash and firewall. The plastic modern Crown Vic dash and steering column look so out of place in a classic vehicle.

    Subbed, you're quality of work is great. People need to realize that time is money and time is irreplaceable. If a portion of the job can be done right in 30 min. Vrs 13 hours show car style, 30 min. works for me. That's why my vehicles are ratrods or daily trucks. Keep the videos coming, watching from Texas.

    I very much like the build and ideas … but being a fabricator/ hot rod builder myself for the last 35 plus years I have a small “critique” I guess, even though it is a budget build the quality of your work should not change… what I guess I’m saying is …if I were a paying customer of yours and you built floor pans that looked like Stevie Wonder bead rolled them using his feet… I wouldn’t be too happy… so you can build stuff on a “budget “ but never alter the quality of the end product… so it takes 5 more minutes to roll a straight bead … big deal, that “ Shop Truck “ is a rolling business card and reflects your experience and ability…
    Im passing this advice down from the old timer that told me that 40 or so years ago… and he was absolutely right …Just some food for thought, otherwise I absolutely love the look and general sense of the build…
    Keep it up

    • @BestDamnShopAround
      @BestDamnShopAround  Před rokem

      No worries! It's made by Dominion sure seal LTD. It's called copper weld-through primer. Part number 24080 It worked well, seem to dry faster than other brands I've used in the past. Just be sure to let it fully dry before we start to weld, if not it will make it splatter.
