I love this franchise, love the hqs, and movies, and many games. This experience was terrifying to me and I loved it, but think I'll never gonna play it again 😂.
Why did you crouch so much when it makes the game harder? The longer you take, the closer the alien starts to patrol around you That plus turning the lights off in the junction boxes makes absolutely no difference when it comes to being seen
Why did they shoot out that part of the station? Well, in the game I forgot who it was, but he'd set up multiple traps trying to kill the Xenomorph to no avail, and his last ditch effort was to trap it in a specific part of the Sevastapool station and eject that part of the station to get rid of it (Note this is before they learned there was a nest at the bottom of the station.) and he was readily willing to sacrifice Ripley if that meant guaranteeing the Xeno would be ejected off the station.
When you play so much that the horror game is not scary anymore and you need to boost the adrenaline level somehow 😊

I never understood why the alien sounded like a horse whenever he landed from the ventilation in the ceiling.
Same reason it occasionally sounds like a bear and a camel. The sound effects have to come from somewhere.
