HOLY CREPES THAT PACK RAT DECK TECH GAVE ME AN IDEA. * Get a non-legendary copy of Mondrak or Ojer Taq (or another creature that multiplies tokens, if there is one I'm forgetting). Options for this include Spark Double, Helm of the Host and Ratadrabik. Edit: you could also forego making a copy nonlegendary by using something like Mirror Box or Mirror Gallery, which might be way easier. Mirror Box, in particular, would work well for being harder to remove than a creature, and also making the Mondrak/Ojer Taqs huuuuuge. * Exile Pack Rat with Agatha's Soul Cauldron and put the +1/+1 counter on your Mondrak/Ojer Taq (or get them a counter elsewhere). * Watch the exponential growth of Mondrak/Ojer Taq tokens. * You'd get lots value from that alone, but it's possible to make it go infinite - even on Arena. Ashnod's Altar would quickly circumvent the mana cost of activation, which would just make cards-in-hand for the discard the issue. Groundskeeper could keep replenishing a basic land for the discard, so at that point you'd have infinite tokens and colorless mana. Otherwise, you could just use a card like Scorn-Blade Berserker exiled under the Cauldron aswell to draw more cards on the cheap. The Mondrak version would lead you get infinite draw with Peregrin Took (with at least 2 Mondraks out). * Edit: given how many cards would be required for both the non-combo setup and the combo usage, you could run it in a dredge shell, where ultimately casting an Eerie Ultimatum would get you out a Mirror Box, Ojer Taq, Agatha's Soul Cauldron, Ashnod's Altar and Groundskeeper all at once, and leave a Pack Rat in the graveyard to exile to the altar. Hell, just include an Altar of Dementia after all that, and you're golden. Or something to give your board haste once it's big enough. That's more fun, at least. But yeah, definitely Against the Odds potential there. Mondrak/Ojer (made nonlegendary in some way), with a Pack Rat under Agatha's Cauldron is a lot of potential value for a start, but taken further it can also lead to some infinite (and fairly janky) combos.
as you mentioned in the second game, play every day for coins, i usually go for 500 a day. save em up for a 10 pack bundle if i needs cards from the current set, or do a draft eventually to rack up gems. i rarey ever get less then 3 wins in draft so my gems just keep climbing until i want some premium card arts. never spent a dime on the game!
I wish you guys would build and stream a game as described below. 4 personally designed LoTR themed Commander decks. Meant to be used in a two-headed dragon commander game. Teams are: Frodo/sam partners(abzan) + Galadriel(bant) Saruman(grixis) + Sauron(grixis) Using only Lotr cards from the set( reprints that are renamed in the set are viable). The only downside is there is no Gimli card for Abzan :(
To your question early on about starting out without many cards, I'd focus on doing Jump In to get a Standard/Alchemy collection. Also with Starter Deck Duel you can play a fair amount of balanced magic games to grind dailies. Then I'd say taking that Historic budget deck that had zero rares you put forward awhile back would be a good first deck, or maybe Timeless RDW. I definitely would recommend a focus on the Arena eternal formats though because if you're on a budget that goes a longer way since the meta shakes up a bit less.
The kamigawa card that makes 2 mana even busted because it's 2 colorless and only works for legendaries. That that said it's great for my slicer EDH deck
As someone who hates drafting, my nr 1 way to get gold is to play every day and *not* do the daily missions. Always have at least 2 up, only do the 750 g ones and always refresh the 500 g ones to try to "upgrade them" to 750 g. It's a basically free way to get 250 extra gold most days with the slight drawback that it restricts the decks you can play
Other than rerolling your daily rewards for 750s and playing every day, there is really no practical way to get into larger formats like timeless and explorer without spending money now. Doing well in the events (3 to 4 wins) used to be the way, but since they changed the structure to gems that's no longer an option.
1:56:57 - For me, I really enjoy playing TCG games but they are always too expensive and I dont want to keep spending more money every year on it. Or alternatively feeling like i needed to grind MTGA for an hour or more every day just to unlock like 2 more cards for free. So i just play other PVP games but mtg is really interesting so i still watch a lot of content just dont actually play lol If I could just buy the game for like 30 bucks and have all the cards I would play it all the time
We have been to Ravnica 3 times already with 9 total sets, which makes it the second most visited plane behind Dominaria. Even if the last time we visited was 5 years ago, it still isn't that long when you consider the length of time that has happened in the past between plane visits.

We have 4-of staples that cost more than entire decks in...Basically every semi-popular competitor except Yugioh and Lorcana. $250 will get me... half a Standard deck. That same $250 will let me buy an ENTIRE PLAYSET of a Weiss Schwarz release, with enough left over to take a friend to the movies.

Activated abilities contain a colon. They're generally written “[Cost]: [Effect].”
@paulcauley8745 crew is a keyword that stands for an activated ability. He lost Zirda because of Alpine Moon.

Quick draft is 5000k gold and you keep the cards. Then if you win games you’re rewarded in gems.
